Edmonton Edmonton for one full day/night
Posted: Sat August 15, 2009 10:46 AM UTC
Hello All

I will be Edmonton for one full day in December so i was wondering if you could tell me what sort of things i can do to fill up my time while i am there!

I love taking photos so i'll definitely be doing that a lot
is there any particular attraction apart from the mall that i should be visiting?
where is the best place to take photos of the city? what about any nice restaurants? good breakfast places? bakeries?

Any advice is welcome!

Edmonton Downtown !
Posted: Tue February 17, 2009 05:09 AM UTC
Hi Everyone,

I have booked 3 days in Edmonton and this will be my first stop on my Canadian Trip in August.

The main reason for my trip is to visit the West Edmonton mall and as i understand the Bed and Breakfast i have booked into on 102nd street is only a 12 minute taxi ride away.

Just wondering, How big are the theme parks? Am i being unrealistic if i think i can get through the adventure park in a couple of hours? Or are they like the Disney Parks?

I was thinking i may have to skip the water park due to time restraints, What about the rest of the mall? is it worth a look through or do locals think it's a little overrated? I'm not really a big shopper but being there i think i will buy a few things.

I notice the guide books keep saying there's not much to see in downtown, Is that true? Can anyone give me ideas on what else besides the mall, 124th St shopping strip is a must see?

ANy info would be great!

Cheers

Edmonton reward points
Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 05:13 PM UTC
We stayed at the Hilton this past weekend April 12 2008 and really enjoyed our stay.We have stayed there before and always were very pleased.I was told that there is some kind or rewards program where you accumulate points for future stays. We were not told this at time of check in so I was wondering how to go about it and if we can get credited for past stays.
Thank-you

Edmonton edmonton restaurant suggestions
Posted: Tue September 18, 2007 10:54 PM UTC
i'm looking for an unique, elegant, quiet (she's hard of hearing) restaurant to take an elderly person too. we live in edmonton so i'm quite familiar with the most popular ones. just wondered if anyone could recommend anything that maybe in their neighborhood that might not be well known. type of food doesn't really matter. decore, good food and good service. an example of the type of restaurant we really liked was the madison's grill. but, i would like something a little less expensive this time - entrees around $20. any suggestions for some hidden gems. thanks.

Edmonton Coffee Shop recommend ????
Posted: Sat January 13, 2007 12:41 AM UTC
Hi,

I plan to visit Edmonton soon to meet a very dear friend and will have only a few hours. Would like some recommendations on a nice quiet, cozy and comfortable coffee shop where we would be comfortable to sit, relax and chat for a few hours. Comfortable seating with privacy to carry a conversation and a relaxed atmosphere a must. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Will stay at the Crown Plaza so perhaps something nearby ? It has been many years since visiting Edmonton so I really need help !

Edmonton EDMONTON PROS & CONS

Hi there to all you keyboard types. (get it?)

I'm from B.C and looking to move to Edmonton. I really would like your opinions on Living in Edmonton. Also I noticed that most if not all streets end with NW as opposed to Calgary. Is a reason for that.

Thanks and looking forward to your replies,

OK, just confirmed that i am moving back to E-Town from Calgary (i was born and raised in Edmonton, moved here to Calgary 2 yrs ago) I'm just asking about what the best method of travel would be to get there, bus vs. plane, their both reasonably priced, as i dont have a vehicle as i did when i moved here to Calgary, if anyone could help out with some websites, numbers, etc, that would be awesome, thanks! All i know of is WestJet, Air Canada and Greyhound....

Edmonton Winter in Edmonton
Posted: Tue November 7, 2006 04:39 AM UTC
Hi Everyone,
I am considering studying in Edmonton. I haven't had the chance to visit it, if ever i do, would not probably get the chance to experience the coldest part until i really decide to study there. Was wondering how cold is negative 30 or 40 - in terms of how many layers of clothing are usually used when outside e.g. going to the bus stop and so on? How long does this kind of weather generally lasts there? I come from the Philippines and had only experience negative 12C. Thank you very much for your help!!!

Edmonton come on everyone ... inspiration needed :)
Posted: Wed October 25, 2006 03:18 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

I've noticed Edmonton pages are pretty quiet, lets see you all get carried away and post a reply or two.. the more the merrier :)

I'm coming to Edmonton in January on a 1 year work visa. I've been working in UK & Ireland as a civil engineer for 2 years now. I am not able to make my mind up to whether i should look for work as an engineer and try to get different engineering experience or whether i should try something altogether different.
some ideas that have come to mind...
- Park ranger or something alse outdoorsy, i love outdoors:)
- Working in OilSands
- Construction industry as asst supervisor or project engineer
- any tother ideas??

criteria that i'd love to satisfy:
good people to work with, good money, challenge, reward, no more than 45-50 hrs per week... sounds great but looks like i'l have to make some exceptions??

hope you all enjoy giving feedback and be as crazy and generous with ideas as you can.. brainstorming by myself is a little boring:)

cheers,

Chris

Hi!
My boyfriend and I are moving to Edmonton next October.

We're also looking for a nice, not too expensive townhouse to live in, and we're willing to pay about 700$ to 800$.

Do you have any suggestions which areas we should look at? We are 26 and 30 yr old.

Thanks for any help,

Edmonton Relocating to Canada
Posted: Sat August 19, 2006 11:20 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
Me and my boyfriend are going to relocate to Canada shortly, so I would like to know a couple of things: cost of living, health care (about the insurance).
rentals (for 1 or a 2 bedroom apartment). Any area of Toronto is fine, but close to public transport and ammenities.
Does anyone know if Scarborough, Toronto East is a nice part of the city? are there enough public transport and ammenities in that area?
I would also like to know about the job market.
Thanks again to all!!!!!
