Driving from Calgary to Jasper in Winter Posted: Wed January 18, 2006 12:05 AM UTC
Hey all - we are due to land February 1st in Calgary and we're staying in Jasper for a week. We were due to pick up a car rental to do the drive from Calgary International to Japser, but we're now having second thoughts - will it be possible to do the drive in 5-6 hours in winter?
We obviously want to make it to Jasper before nightfall. Is the road heavily trafficked, or is it just stupid tourists like me who don't know better? Would we be better getting the free coach transfer offered us by our tour operator?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. :-)

drining time from Jasper to Hinton Posted: Thu November 10, 2005 08:01 PM UTC
Hi can someone advise us of the driving conditions from Jasper National Park to Hinton? We`re booked overnight in Hinton but are heading back to Vancouver the next day, therefore hoping to reduce unnecessary driving time. Should we stay in Jasper or is driving to Hinton a relatively easy run? We`ll be exploring the park any way so at the time of booking it didn`t seem like a silly idea! Thanks for any help,Anna & Kym

travelling from Jasper to Pemberton Posted: Tue October 25, 2005 10:18 AM UTC
Can anyone advise us of the driving conditions from Jasper to Pemberton? We`re concerned that the distance we`ll be covering may be too much for one day, including stops. We`ll be travelling in May and would appreciate any advice including any suggestions if an overnight stay is recommended

Jasper to Banff day tour including Lake Loiuse/Icefield parkways etc Posted: Tue October 18, 2005 05:33 AM UTC
Hi
Myself and 2 friends are heading to Canada for 6/7 days in March 2006. We want to spend 2-ish days in Vancouver (where we fly into) and then we want to do a tour of the rockies. Only need some good tour company's....
Firstly, we can get a 5 day/4 night tour from Vancouver - all by coach!! but I figure (and please tell me if I am wrong) we only really need to see the stretch from Jasper to banff (or Calgary to Jasper) as we are pushed for time and I am not too sure about spending 4 days in a coach/bus (one day is the Jasper to Banff)
So I am looking for a day tour or a 2 day tour from with Calgary/Banff to Jasper taking in the best sights of Lake Louise (would LOVE to stay overnight at Lake Louise) and Icefield Parkways and all the frozen lakes etc.
Please HELP!!
Thanks in advance
Tam

Hi,
Planning to visit Banff & Jasper National Parks in September, and I know that ice skating is generally a winter sport. But I would still like to know if there are ice rinks (indoors/outdoors) available in these 2 parks that I can go ice skating in September? Thanks.

River of No Return Filming Locations Posted: Fri July 29, 2005 05:43 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to Banff & Jasper this September and I was wondering if anyone could tell me which locations in these parks was the movie River of No Return (1953, 20th Century Fox, Marilyn Monroe Robert Mitchum Rory Calhoun) shot? Also, did the stars and crew of the movie stay at Becker's Chalets/Cabins near the town of Jasper on the Icefield Pkwy? Thanks.

Patricia Lake Bungalow or Becker's Chalet ? Posted: Wed March 23, 2005 06:50 AM UTC
I would like to have some suggestion on these 2 places if my husband and I would like a motel room unit, which would be recommended between Patricia Lake Bungalow and Becker's Chalet (Becker called this motel unit as "sleeping room" so I am not sure if there is any TV in it but I know that Patricia Lake has TV and a sofa in their motel room)

Accomodations in Jasper or nearby town Posted: Wed February 23, 2005 02:25 AM UTC
I planned to camp for our trip to Banff,Jasper and Lake Louise in August, but I am now almost going to change my mind if I can come up with more information of reasonable hotel or family shared bedrooms cabins (6 people) I would like to know your experience of travel to Jasper. Where did you stay or where is the best to stay outside Jasper but easy to make a day tour visit, because it might cost fortune to stay in Jasper. Also my anybody travel from Vancouver to Banff and Jasper - please share your route tips where is the best town to stop for a day drive before get to Jasper or Banff. We will only plan to have 7-8 hours drive before next day to Jasper or Banff. Thanks !

overnight in golden Posted: Sat February 12, 2005 10:37 AM UTC
Hi we were planning to stay overnight in Lake Louise but are wondering if Golden would be a better option as we hope to visit the Grizzly Bear Refuge,do the gondola and just generally enjoy the park (wildlife ect.)before spending our last night in Jasper. We really want to see all the sights;Columbia Icefields,Anabasca Falls, glaciers without backtracking too much. It's so hard to gauge travelling times and distances on the travel books.I really appreciate all the help given so far. I hope some one can help this time as well. Thanks Anna&Kym

Larch Viewing in the Canadian Rockies Posted: Fri August 13, 2004 03:05 AM UTC
I am considering taking a trip to the Canadian Rockies this September or October. I would like to see Larch trees during their peak color.
Can someone tell me where the best larch areas are and when (approximately) they hit peak color? I can hike, scramble or climb to get to them if necessary.
Thanks.

Bed and Breakfasts in the Jasper area Posted: Tue July 13, 2004 09:38 PM UTC
Has anyone stayed in either the Mountain Splendor Bed and Breakfast or the Wyndswept Bed & Breakfast? Both are in the Folding Mountain Village in East Jasper.
Any recommendations for B&B's, cottages, etc. in scenic, less crowded/more secluded areas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

From Jasper to Calgary-public transportation Posted: Thu January 22, 2004 06:25 AM UTC
I am helping a friend with some travel research & she needs to get from Jasper to Calgary Airport by public transportation. I found information on the airport shuttle from Brewster Transportation and Tours but they only run until April 2004, & my friend will be in Jasper in July. Renting a car is out of the question as my friend & her travel companion cannot drive. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Short trip to Jasper & Banff parks Posted: Wed July 2, 2003 10:21 AM UTC
Hi, I need suggestions for a three days family trip in the area of Jasper and Banff parks. We are arriving to Jasper on the evening of July 19 and planning to continue south to Yellowstone on July 23. Should we stay two nights in Jasper and two nights in Banff? What are the main attractions that we shouldn't miss?
Thank you in advance, Meir
