Moscow Question about Museum
Posted: Thu October 1, 2009 07:09 PM UTC
Hi, Everyone,

This is Courtney, PR manager of VT and I have a quick question for you--has anyone been to the new chocolate museum in Moscow? I heard that it opened in March of this year, but I can't find anything on the internet about it.

If you've been, I'd love to know about it--we're working on a possible press release about candy and chocolate museums/factories.

Many, many thanks!

Vladivostok Vladivostok in December
Posted: Sun September 27, 2009 12:44 PM UTC
I am coming to Vladivostok to catch the Trans Siberian and am wondering how many days it is worth staying in the city and exploring before the train.

I thought about staying a couple of weeks and learning some Russian so any idea how to find a Russian teacher there in December?

Thanks

Moscow Restaurant Recommendation
Posted: Thu September 24, 2009 09:16 PM UTC
Hello all,

I will be in Moscow with two friends for the football world cup qualifier game Russia vs. Germany in October. I speak some basic Russian and I was already in Moscow for more than a week in 2005, so I know roughly what to expect.

However, I would like to hear your restaurant recommendations for Moscow. We are probably very easy people and are therefore open for almost everything.

The location of the restaurant should be easy to find and more or less located somewhere near the city centre.

I know all this is not very precise, so just feel free to post your favourite place.

Thank you all

I was in SP in business several years ago and want to return on vacation with my wife. I am interested in any experience or suggestions regarding the best way to do so, e.g. on a cruise, part of a package, on our own? I would also appreciate hotel recommendations.

Russia re-posting
Posted: Thu September 17, 2009 12:50 AM UTC
Hi buds, and thank's in advance for all replies.

As i said before, i'm just trying get the first information about the possibilities of going by my self(my own) and about the country. Very probabily Rio is much more dangerous than those russian cities, but the difference is that i live here, and know well the dark places, where a tourist shouldn't go.
I have in mind being in the country about 10-12 days, and i like very much historical places, architeture, ancient and small cities, especial interest in second war, and things like that(sorry my english again).
The first impressions from your replies is that it seems to be possible go my own, and i prefer that than touristics groups.
By the way, how long should i stay in moscow and st. pet., once, basically i have in mind know the main points of interest of these cities(interrogation).
Other question, is possible to get the refered small cities by a rented car(interrogation)

thank' once more, especially Morozov(Hi from rio)

Russia Travel Itinerary - St Petersberg- Moscow - SW Russia
Posted: Sun August 23, 2009 07:28 PM UTC
Hi,

I would like to travel St Petersberg - Moscow and then somewhere is South West Russia or Kazakstan. This sounds vage but I do not know if it would be more interesting to visit Kazan or somewhere further south or in Kazakstan.

I will be limited by time and will probably have 2-3 weeks only for this travelling and will wish to return by air.

I would be interested in answers from people living in Russian who know these regions,

Thanks.

Saint Petersburg Tap water quality in Saint Petersburg
Posted: Thu August 13, 2009 07:53 PM UTC
Hi, I was in the lovely city of Saint Petersburg in June and stayed at the hotel Rossiya. I was surprised to find that the tap water was all brown and stinky and I was told that it was the same all over Saint Petersburg because all the water pipes in the city are old and rusty.

Do you think this is true everywhere? Do people just put up with it or do many use private water filters?

Has anybody had similar experiences?

Thanks in advance for your replies:-D

Moscow Local guide in Moscow
Posted: Thu August 13, 2009 02:35 AM UTC
I am looking for a local person to be a guide in Moscow for my brother and me. We arrive September 8 and I would like a guide for a couple of days beginning Sept. 9. I had a local gal in Minsk last March and that worked out well.
We are easy going and I don't want a guide from a professional company.
The only requirements would be a person who speaks fair to good English and would help us see some of the attractions on Red Square and know how to get tickets and how to ride the subway and show us a reasonable place for lunch. They don't have to be an expert on every site in Moscow.
At the moment we plan on staying at the HM hostel which is close to Red Square.
I would pay a fair rate plus pay for any food or transportation and for lunch.
Again, we are a little older, but young at heart, easy to be with, not critical, good walkers, and would just like to meet a local person who would
be flexible and help us not get lost in the big city!
thx
