Bookstores Posted: Fri October 13, 2006 03:07 PM UTC
I would like some help in locating the right bookstore to visit the next time I come to Ottawa; my interest is in bookstores that may carry casino game titles, like blackjack, poker etc. Thank you in advance for any tips; address and phone number of the store would also be appreciated.

pubs and Bars Posted: Sat July 15, 2006 07:50 AM UTC
Four of my friends and I (ranging from ages 19-25) will be visiting Ottawa for a weekend in august and bungee jumping in Wakefield. We will be staying on Albert Street. Does anyone have recommendations for some fun bars and pubs that we can go to that will be in walking distance to the hotel. Because we are in the business district it seems like it might be hard to find nightlife that will be interesting for a bunch of crazy college kids on the town.
Thanks for the help

Upper Canada Village Posted: Sat June 17, 2006 08:20 AM UTC
I will be visiting Ottawa in July end for about 3 days.
Can anyone suggest me if there are any TOUR OPERATORS who organize a day trip to Upper Canada Village? Do they pick you and drop you back to your hotel?
Or else, Is there a public transport that goes to Upper Canada Village?
Cheers

sounds silly but...make out spots? Posted: Tue May 16, 2006 09:20 PM UTC
Hey All,
My fiance is coming into to town and I want to take him to all the romantic spots in ottawa...
any suggestions? I have lived here for 17 years but don't go beyond my home area (east end) very much.
Any nice look outs and hideaways? somewhere we can be totally alone (usually) and no one would care what we did i.e picnic'd in the middle of the night or just watched the stars etc...
thanks!
(I am 100% positive everyone has a favourite "make out" spot! ;-) )

Inexpensive Lodgins Posted: Thu January 19, 2006 06:30 PM UTC
My wife and I would like to visit Ottawa for three or four nights in the month of February. We will be coming from Ste-Agathe-des-Monts. Can anyone offer or advise on inexpensive, private and clean lodgings near the centre of Ottawa or within very easy commuting to the centre. Or if anyone has been thinking of the Laurentians, we can make some exchange arrangements for any hospitality. Sincerey Yours, Tamas and Ilona

Aristocrat Suite Hotel + surrounding Posted: Wed October 12, 2005 06:56 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm thinking of staying at the Aristocrat Suite Hotel which is around Cartier and Cooper streets. I'm wondering if anyone's had any experiences with this place. Also, what's that area like? Is it quiet, bustling, etc...?
Thanks in Advance!

Where to go? What to do? Posted: Sun August 21, 2005 08:22 PM UTC
Our son attends the University of Ottawa. We're considering going up to see him at Thanksgiving. Would like to go somewhere outside of the city (1-2 hours drive maximum) (either Ontario or Quebec) and spend a couple of days with him. Anyone have any suggestions as to a location that has activities that might interest a 22 year old. My husband and I would be happy to go anywhere and not do anything but we don't want son to have something to do. Thanks for any help. Any budget accomodation or restaurant recommendations would be great too.

Temporary Accomodations Posted: Tue July 5, 2005 03:16 AM UTC
I think this question is somewhat travel-related...maybe not though, so reply fast in case VT (you have to love them) decide it is innappropriate.
My soon-to-be-wife (ie 4 days from now) and I are planning on staying here in Ottawa until mid-fall some time, but don't know where to start looking for a place to live until we take off for India/Thailand/Korea. Does anyone out there have any ideas or contacts? We're both good people, but it's tough finding a place that will rent to you month by month. We're losing our current place (yes, we are living in sin...for 4 more days) at the end of August, so have little bit of time to look around.
Any info would be very helpful! We'll even take you out for beer if you're around!

I am visitin g relatives in the coming July and I also hope to go on a little photography spree. I know most of the attractions there but does anyone know where the CSIS building is located? I heard things as it's reputation as a secret service agency(?) and I'd like to know more too (photos would be nice as well) that's all.

Stayin at the Chimo Posted: Fri April 15, 2005 04:35 PM UTC
Hello All,
I will be in Ottawa for 4 or 5 days in August for a wedding. I have never been before and would love some hints on things to check out.
I'm staying at the Chimo and was wondering if there is much shopping around this area? How far away from the main tourist sites (Parliament hill, rideau canal)? I likely will not be renting a car and was wondering of the best modes of transportation? Also are there any nightclubs in the area?
I will be a single female goin out alone so the friendlier the better.
Thanking you in advance for any advice.

Ottawa Neighbourhoods & Suburbs Posted: Sun March 20, 2005 11:57 PM UTC
I'm pretty sure I will be moving to Ottawa this spring, and I'd love to hear a bit about the different neighbourhood flavours.
I've had friends who enjoyed the Glebe area, although they were all students at the time. I'm finishing grad school, in my mid-20s, and would probably prefer living in either a more cultural/downtown-y area (though I can never seem to find in Ottawa anything that would compare to Toronto's Annex, or downtown Montreal, even on a small scale), or else in a comfortable, convenient suburb. Depending on where I end up working, I may end up getting a car, which would be a big selling feature for living in the suburbs.
One place I'm interested in working at is located in Nepean. What is Nepean like? What about Kanata or Hull? If you had no kids and could live anywhere in Ottawa, where would you choose?

The bar scene in Ottawa Posted: Thu March 10, 2005 04:30 PM UTC
Can anyone suggest a good place for 19/20 year olds to go in Ottawa? We are having a family get together on the Easter week-end and the 19+ crowd would like to check out the bars or dance clubs. We are staying at the Minto Place Suites, so anything in that area would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looking for Room to Rent - Ottawa Posted: Mon March 7, 2005 01:19 AM UTC
I am REALLY looking for a room to rent in a specific area of Ottawa;
Chapel Hill (Orleans suburb). I am willing to rent on a full time basis, though I would not need actual full time residence. Given this I don't need board (food supplied) or full house access, so I would an easy boarder to have. Possession is flexible but really want it by 2005 06 01. Anyone?
