Quebec Christmas in Quebec City...
Posted: Tue October 13, 2009 09:04 PM UTC
My husband and I are visiting Quebec City from Dec 23th to 28th 2009.
Some basic questions:
1) Is there a website that shows what restuarants will be open on Dec 24th and/or 25th? (I assume many in the city will be closed). Any suggestions where we can go for a nice meal on either of those nights?
2) Where are the best bars/pubs?
3) Is eating at the Chateau Frontenac worthwhile?
4) Can you get to Montmorency Falls via public transport and is it open over the Christmas period?
All suggestions/thoughts welcomed
Thanks S

I would like to choose a three or four star hotel (large or small) with a great view of Le Chateau Frontenac and maybe the Saint Lawrence River. We will be walking mostly so something in a good location. Any suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone has ever had the Seafood Buffet at the Chateau
Frontenac, Quebec City. Is it good and worth the cost of $65. Are there any
other restaurants in Quebec City that you would recommend. Thanks!

Quebec Upper vs. Lower Town in Quebec City AND stopover from Boston to Quebec City?
Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 08:48 PM UTC
Hello, I will be traveling with my husband and two brothers (both 20) from May 22-25. I have done some research on hotels, but I still don't know which area is best to stay in QC, is it lower town or upper town. I know the Chateau Frontenac is in the upper town, so I have a feeling this is the area in which to stay, but I don't really know. Can you help me out? We are considering the Hotel Clarendon. What do people think about this hotel?

Also, we will be driving up from Boston and would like to stay about 1/2 way overnight. Any suggestions of an inexpensive, clean place to crash for the night?

Thanks.

Has anyone been on the toboggan ride at the Chateau Frontenac? They bill it with speeds up to 60MPH, looks pretty interesting.

Thanks in advance.

Quebec B&B's or Boutique hotel recommendation
Posted: Tue March 31, 2009 07:08 PM UTC
I'll be in Quebec city in mid April and wanted to know which area I should be looking at to stay in. I have no concept of how big the city is.

I've seen a few hotels near/in the walled city. Is this a good spot?

I'm looking for a nice area with good restaurants, boutiques, museums, etc and I'd prefer to walk.

Thanks!

Quebec Chateau Frontenac Etiquette
Posted: Fri March 27, 2009 05:33 AM UTC
What is the lay of the land like in this hotel? Rather posh, can it be a bit "stuffy" if you know what I mean? A laid back Cali, it would be nice to know of any potential land mines prior to a week long stay.

In other words, I'm more of a fine pint beer kind of guy talking about the long lost Québec Nordiques opposed to a politically correct three-pieced suit intellectual conversationalist.

Thanks in advance.

Quebec December Weather In QC
Posted: Tue March 17, 2009 02:45 AM UTC
Weather.com lists QC averages with a high of 23F/-5C and low of 8F/-13C.

Besides five layers of clothes and antifreeze (aka pints), does anyone have any advice to battle the Canadian freeze?

BTW, I'm targeting this time frame because I love how they dress the city up in Christmas Spirit amidst all the snow.

Thanks in advance.

Quebec Easter Break
Posted: Sun March 15, 2009 05:05 AM UTC
Hi,

I will be visiting my sister in Easter from Sydney and be staying there for about week. She will have school after Easter Monday, so time with her will be very tight.

I'm a bit concern of the lack of activities to do together since most businesses will be closed in Easter. Does that also include the major tourist attractions?

Any info and suggestion would be helpful.
Thanks.

Hi!

My brother-in-law is moving to Quebec in January, and I thought it would be fun to get him a tab at a local bar or brewery, so he can go somewhere to hang out. Can anyone recommend a good place for this? I'm just looking for a good local place in Quebec City.

Thanks!

Posted: Mon October 27, 2008 02:51 AM UTC
We will be in Quebec from December 26, 2008 – January 2, 2009. We would be interested in attending an evening concert, show, play, event, etc. I have not been able to find any events so far. Do you know of any that you can make me aware of? Also, what might be a fun thing to do New Year’s Eve (not into clubs or drinking, however)? Many thanks!

Hi, do you have any good route suggestions from Quebec to Boston by train. I presume there will be a required changeover as not aware there is a direct link between the 2 cities. It would be ideal if you know where to obtain a timetable schedule.

Thanks

Quebec bar in quebec city
Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 01:57 AM UTC
Hi. I'm looking for the name of a bar in Quebec City that I recently went to but have forgotten the name of. I'm pretty sure it was in Vieux Quebec, but I'm not 100 percent. The place had two floors. Upstairs there was a pool table and you could play darts. Close to the pool table there was an outdoor terrace. They also served some food, such as nachos and chicken wings. On the bottom floor they were also serving beer and as the night got older there was live music there, at least on saturday night, we left early the other day we were there so I don't know if there's live music every night. You could watch tv on both floors. I think it's on Rue St-Jean or somewhere in that area or at least around that area. Does anyone know what place I'm talking about?

Pour les connaisseurs.

Hello !

Can we visit Le Chateau Frontenac from inside ?
I can't find this information till now.
Please post a link, if is exist.

I find this place: http://www.canyonste-anne.qc.ca/
Have anyone more photos & info, posted photos, etc. ?

Can we do the Canyon Ste-Anne, basilica Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and Montmorency Falls in half a day, aprox. 5 hours ?
We intend to leave Quebec City at noon and go to the Canyon Ste-Anne, go back to basilica Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré and finally visit Montmorency Falls. At 5 p.m. we must go into the Montreal direction to rich the city at 8 p.m.

Mersi beaucoup !

HiEveryone:

I am planning on spending a few days in Quebec City and am overwhelmed with the amount of places to stay. Is it imperative to stay within the walls or is it just as easy to stay outside. Looking for someplace quaint but clean.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
