Toronto Self catering apts for short stay?
Posted: Tue March 3, 2009 05:51 PM UTC
I'm a first time poster, so excuse me if I don't explain myself well.

Here goes, we are a family of 6 travelling to Canada in August, we will be staying 4 nights in Toronto and I would like to book an apartment in downtown Toronto. We have 4 children (ages 13, 10, 6 & 2) so an apt makes more sense re feeding, laundry & containment! Does anyone know of any reasonably priced apts that would fit us? Just looking for clean & centrally located. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Toronto Niche places to check out in Toronto
Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 06:48 PM UTC
We're going to Toronto this July to spend a week, checking out Niagra, Casa Loma, etc. We'll be hitting all the major attractions of course. However, I always like to get advice on some great niche places, you know, the ones that aren't posted in the "Top 10 places to go in Toronto". I'm definitely looking for some great food, authentic to some culture, I'm not too picky. I'm not looking for the tourist-ready places, I'm definitely looking for some "off the beaten path" kind of places. I hope I've described well enough what I'm looking for.

I really appreciate it,
Gareth

Toronto better winter driving route from New York to Toronto?
Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 03:41 PM UTC
Hey, there, I am going to drive tomorrow (Sunday) from New York to Toronto for an interview on Monday. The weather is pretty bad as snowing along the way, not the best time to travel (if not for the job interview) !!!

Do you have any experience with the following two routes? Please share with me. Thanks.

Route 1: new york -> albany -> kingston -> toronto

Route 2: new york -> binghamtown -> buffalo -> toronto

the weather along route 1 seems not as worse as route2 for tomorrow due to less windy and less snow.

route 1: 10-15 mph, 1-3 inch

route 2: 10-25mph, 3-5 inch

I was told that bufallo is more likely to have traffic jam as well.

Toronto public parking
Posted: Sun February 1, 2009 02:03 PM UTC
I read online that there is public parking one block from Westin harbour castle in toronto. We find the parking way too pricey. I obtained this room for 60.00 USD and the parking is 30.00, 50% wow. Please let me know where I can save precious canadian dollars and park for cheaper. Thanks from Penetanguishene, ONT

Toronto Toronto Neighborhood Hotels
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 06:13 PM UTC
My husband and I will be traveling to Toronto early summer 2009. We are looking for a small neighborhood hotel as opposed to many large hotels that I see on various internet sites. We don't mind--and perhaps even prefer--staying outside of the Toronto center area, so long as there is relatively convenient access to public transportation, preferable subway. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Toronto Cheapest way to get to Europe (croatia)??
Posted: Sun November 30, 2008 06:46 PM UTC
i go to europe twice a year for 2-3 months to see my girlfriend, it looks like do to financial problems i wont be able to go this winter, but i would still like to try all possible options before i give up.

a usual round ticket for me is $1100-1200 to Croatia. my question is, is there any other way to get a ticket other than at a agent or online. what i mean is, do airlines sell Dirt cheap tickets because someone canceled last minute or never showed up, if i go to the airport and one passenger doesnt show up, will they sell me his space cheaper? Also is there maybe a canadian website, where people try to sell their non-refundable tickets to people who can use them? i know these might be dumb questions, but i would just like to now for sure.

P.s. i would be leaving from toronto pearson airport.

thanks in advance.

Hi,

I will be in Toronto from 8th December to around 30th December. I need this info:

1. Where can I get latest photos about current clothing trend (specially winter wear) in Toronto? How does a male typically dress up?

2. I'll be staying close to Eaton Center. Any place where I can purchase reasonable price gifts for distant relatives? How value for money Eaton Center is?

3. Please suggest some good gift articles in the range of 25-50 Canadian Dollars.

4. Will it be expensive during Christmas holidays?

Thanks.

Toronto 360 restaurant in CN Tower
Posted: Sat November 15, 2008 06:56 PM UTC
When we had lunch, yesterday, November 14, 2008, at the 360 restaurant in the CN Tower, I asked if they had a sample menu to show my friends back in Rochester. They did not. After asking a couple of people, one said that the menu would be posted on the Internet. After spending a while looking, I'm writing to ask for a copy of yesterday's menu. Caesar salad and Squash bisque were outstanding, as were the meals: spinach stuffed breast of capon and Spaghetti Carbonera (Spelling?). The chocolate tower was great. Tapioca pudding only so-so, but the accompanying cookies were delicious. Anyway, I need the fancy descriptions of these menu items, in particular, although, as I've indicated, I'd like a copy of the entire menu.

Will arrive in Toronto tomorrow to help a dear friend celebrate his 50th birthday (without him knowing) and am looking for recommendations on thrify accommodation. Any help would be dearly appreciated. I can travel freely with my trusty motorcycle and GPS, and could commute up to an hour outsied of rush hours with no issues.
Any secret locations would be cool, I can search by name if anyone has a sugestion or 2. I am travelling alone and am depending on internet links, but haven't found the perfect dive yet. Thanks in advance for any help any one of you might offer.

Toronto Driving from Toronto to Stratford
Posted: Wed September 10, 2008 09:34 PM UTC
A friend and I are renting a car and driving from the Toronto airport to Stratford, but we would like to avoid taking the 401 as much as possible. Does anyone have any reccomendations of routes to take that would be direct, but not directly along the 401?

We both love exploring and scenic little towns, so any good reccomendations for places off the beaten track that are worth exploring would be much appreciated too!

Thanks!

Toronto Toronto Vs Budapest
Posted: Thu August 28, 2008 10:02 PM UTC
Hi Everyone!

We wanted to go on a trip this coming November, but we can't make up our minds between a couple of places. For everyone who's already been to Toronto, maybe you guys can help me out. If we go to Canada, we were going to go to Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City. How is the Canadian currency and overall costs of things? Is it still fairly affordable to do a 10-11 days vacation out there? We are most likely going to take the train between the cities. We are debating between this trip and Budapest. We wanted to compare the costs of things because we want to enjoy our travels and not just live off a tight budget the whole way through.

Thanks!

Toronto parking near Toronto Airport - Do Not use SKYPARX
Posted: Mon August 18, 2008 04:37 PM UTC
Guys,

Just wanted to share my bad experience with SKYPARX in Toronto. I left my car with this parking lot for a week. Upon return, my front bumper was damaged. They will not be responsible even if they damage your car. I have not heard such a thing but seriously, that is what the ticket says. The parking lot requires you to leave the key to them so they can park cars closely to maximise profit. I wonder if anyone else have the same problem????

Toronto Advice on the smells and sights of Toronto
Posted: Sun August 17, 2008 09:57 PM UTC
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if I can get a little help on where to visit, plpaces to stay and where to eat in Toronto. Haha yes that's a little vague so I shall proceed to help on that.

My girlfriend and I are planning to spend some quality time in TO, we've been to the main sites such as CN tower, chinatown, wonderland and TO zoo. Well we haven't really had much time to do much sighseeing but this fall we're planning to continue with a few more days. I'm sure there TO has much more to offer and only those who are used to the city can share its secrets.

I would like to make it a special holiday so I request some help on this, hehe yes sometimes heading out to the city and simply wandering around is great but this time I'd like to plan it.

So what about the sites to visit? Oh for your information, we are university students so that should give an idea about the budget >.< While surfing around the net I saw many palces to visit, just so much that I wasn't sure which I should focus on. Also I have heard of Algonquin park? Ok it's about 3-5hrs from TO right? But is it worth doing the kayaking?

What about places to eat? Let's see...obviously it would be nice to try some not too common places. But we're not too picky so if you can name some of your favourite restaurants that would be great.

Nightlife? Ah we're not looking for a big party place, so how about a nice place to relax, drink with great music/sights? Also, what about karaoke places, any good ones downtown that is recommended?

Lastly, any recommended places to stay? It doesn't need to be a fancy hotel, but not hostels either. Just a good hygieninc place.

Thank you everyone for spending time to read through all this, I am sorry if it took a while and my many questions but I just want to make this a great experience and not lose time on just figuring what to do.

D.K.

Toronto Canadian dollars / US dollars in Toronto ??
Posted: Sat August 16, 2008 03:41 AM UTC
Maybe a dumb question, but when we are in Toronto, can we freely use USD in places like restaurants, hotels etc or is it only Canadian dollars which are accepted ? Also, I seem to see that the exchange rate is more or less 1:1 ..... is that fixed or something? Thanks !!
