Toronto Cheap way to get to Montreal from Toronto
Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 03:03 PM UTC
Dear all, hi, I am going to visit Montreal in the mid of July. As to the information I now have, I can either take train, bus or flight to there. Unfortunately, I am a budget traveller, so taking flight is not my issue. I wonder any other cheap ways to go to Montreal?

Many thanks to any suggestions.

Cheers

Toronto Best dimsum and Korean BBQ in Toronto or close by
Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 03:51 AM UTC
Where is the best place to eat dimsum in/around Toronto? We have a car so we can travel beyond the city. I know that Toronto has a huge Chinese population so there must be some excellent places. I'm planning on visiting Pacific Mall. Are there any good places there to eat?

Also, where is the best place to eat Korean bbq? I read reviews on Korean Grill House and Grill Time Korean BBQ. If you've been to both and could only go to one, which one would you choose? If neither, what place would you recommend?

Thanks for your help. :)

Toronto Where can I find Golden Cloud brand Chinese Sausages?
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 11:23 AM UTC
I'll be visiting Toronto soon and want to make a trip to Chinatown to pick up the Golden Cloud brand of Chinese Sausages while I'm there. They used to be shipped to the U.S., but it seems that brand is no longer available here and it's been my favorite brand to cook with since I discovered them years ago. I know there are several Chinatowns in Toronto, but I'm not familiar with any of them and I was hoping I could at least get the names/addresses of some of the Chinese supermarkets in the area. In the past, the sausages were available at the larger Chinese supermarkets in NY where many different brands were carried. Any help would be appreciated.

Toronto Am I going to be bored?!
Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 11:45 AM UTC
So my friend has moved to Toronto from England for a year and I've decided to book myself out there for a month!
June 15th - July 18th!
The only thing is, I think she'll still be working ( she has like 2 or 3 jobs!)so we'll only be able to do touristy things on her days off, if she hasn't already done them!
We're planning on going to Edge Fest and Warped Tour, but other than that, I have no idea what I'll be doing out there? haha
Can someone give me tips on what to do with my time, even if it is alone?!

Also, it's my 21st birthday on 8th july, any ideas on what to do/where to go?

Thanks, Bex

Toronto Question of getting to VIA train station from Toronto Pearson` intl. Airport
Posted: Sat April 11, 2009 04:56 PM UTC
Hi there,

As other responses in the related topic, I see that the No.192 airport rocket served from the airport to downtown Toronto. But the problem is, I went to the TTC website, and found that the destination of No.192 is at Kipling, where is still far from the majoy bus terminals (Greyhound or Coach Canada)and VIA station.

Does this mean I need to get off at Kipling and another type of transportation to the station? If so, would anybody tell me what kind of transportation I can take to get to the station?

Or any other better advices for transportation from the airport to the train station? If there is a direct way to get to the downtown will be exceptionally great, coz I am afrard that I will get lost~(my first time to Canada).

Thank you very much indeed.

Toronto (1) Shuttle to/from airport and (2) rtn train trip to Niagra Falls from Toronto
Posted: Sat March 28, 2009 06:35 AM UTC
Hi everyone

We plan to fly into Toronto from Quebec for a couple of days in early October as we want to see Niagra Falls before heading back home to Australia. (I am assuming that flying into Toronto would optimise our time in Toronto, but I'm open to suggestions).

(1) Could you please tell me if there is a shuttle service from the airport to major hotels in the city (and return)? If so, any idea of cost each way/per person and if it is recommended that I book it in advance?

(2) I've seen reference to trains to Niagra Falls in this forum. I was wondering if they are reliable, and how often they run from Toronto, how long does the journey take and any idea of the cost (return ticket)?? And finally, what is the return service like to Toronto?

Many thanks for your help.

Posted: Fri March 27, 2009 01:10 PM UTC
I'm planning to travel from Dublin to LAX with a stopover at Toronto airport. I won't be booking the tickets separately it just says DUB -LAX via YYZ on the travel website.

* Do I need to collect my baggage and retransfer upon arrival or departure?

* Is YYZ airport an alright one for connecting flights?.......I'll be travelling alone and never done the whole connecting process....so I'm kinda nervous.....

thanks

Toronto 80's Dance Clubs
Posted: Wed March 18, 2009 06:05 AM UTC
Is there a retro dance club in Toronto that does 80's (and 70's) music? I would prefer one that does this kind of music all the time but even information on a club that just has a retro or 80's night would be appreciative. Just to give an idea, if anyone's been to Montreal, there's a club there in the Crescent Street corridor called Club Electric Avenue that only does 80's and it's EXTREMELY popular. Anything like that in Toronto?

Toronto Travel advice
Posted: Sat March 7, 2009 08:42 PM UTC
We have plan to visit Toronto area including Niagara Falls, Canada Wonderland, CN Tower,Museum etc in mid June 2007. What would be the best way to get around the city? I was thinking of renting a car, but afraid of finding parking and getting lost, since I have never been to Toronto before. Would that be a good idea to stay in a downtown Toronto area hotel?

Toronto Self catering apts for short stay?
Posted: Tue March 3, 2009 04:51 PM UTC
I'm a first time poster, so excuse me if I don't explain myself well.

Here goes, we are a family of 6 travelling to Canada in August, we will be staying 4 nights in Toronto and I would like to book an apartment in downtown Toronto. We have 4 children (ages 13, 10, 6 & 2) so an apt makes more sense re feeding, laundry & containment! Does anyone know of any reasonably priced apts that would fit us? Just looking for clean & centrally located. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Toronto Niche places to check out in Toronto
Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 05:48 PM UTC
We're going to Toronto this July to spend a week, checking out Niagra, Casa Loma, etc. We'll be hitting all the major attractions of course. However, I always like to get advice on some great niche places, you know, the ones that aren't posted in the "Top 10 places to go in Toronto". I'm definitely looking for some great food, authentic to some culture, I'm not too picky. I'm not looking for the tourist-ready places, I'm definitely looking for some "off the beaten path" kind of places. I hope I've described well enough what I'm looking for.

I really appreciate it,
Gareth

Toronto better winter driving route from New York to Toronto?
Posted: Sat February 21, 2009 02:41 PM UTC
Hey, there, I am going to drive tomorrow (Sunday) from New York to Toronto for an interview on Monday. The weather is pretty bad as snowing along the way, not the best time to travel (if not for the job interview) !!!

Do you have any experience with the following two routes? Please share with me. Thanks.

Route 1: new york -> albany -> kingston -> toronto

Route 2: new york -> binghamtown -> buffalo -> toronto

the weather along route 1 seems not as worse as route2 for tomorrow due to less windy and less snow.

route 1: 10-15 mph, 1-3 inch

route 2: 10-25mph, 3-5 inch

I was told that bufallo is more likely to have traffic jam as well.

I read online that there is public parking one block from Westin harbour castle in toronto. We find the parking way too pricey. I obtained this room for 60.00 USD and the parking is 30.00, 50% wow. Please let me know where I can save precious canadian dollars and park for cheaper. Thanks from Penetanguishene, ONT

Toronto Toronto Neighborhood Hotels
Posted: Tue January 6, 2009 05:13 PM UTC
My husband and I will be traveling to Toronto early summer 2009. We are looking for a small neighborhood hotel as opposed to many large hotels that I see on various internet sites. We don't mind--and perhaps even prefer--staying outside of the Toronto center area, so long as there is relatively convenient access to public transportation, preferable subway. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
