Victoria Family-friendly hotel/motel?
Posted: Mon April 23, 2007 08:45 PM UTC
At the end of May an old friend from Japan is arriving for a conference in Vancouver and popping down to visit us with his family in tow for 2 days. They will be catching the ferry across and have a rental car.

They have asked me about accommodation and As a new arrival to Victoria, I have no idea about the hotels here. They have a 2 year old and a 5 year old.

Can anyone recommend a nice clean and not shabby (Japanese people are very particular about that) but also child-friendly hotel or motel? I don't think it has to be in the center as they will have a car. Just something nice and not extravagantly expensive.

Thank you in advance,

Jitka

Victoria affordable photographing needed!
Posted: Thu March 8, 2007 07:09 PM UTC
Hello!
I am looking for somebody to do the photographing for my wedding ceremony in April.
Maybe there is someone who does it as a hobby and wont charge so much as other private studios.
We are planning a big wedding in a year or so and now it is only a small ceremony outside.
If you are local in Victoria and have a good professional camera and enjoy taking picture, would be great to talk the deal!
Thank you, Olga

Victoria Port McNeill
Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 12:45 PM UTC
Hi,

I am staying in Port McNeill for a few days this summer as I couldn't get accommodation in Telegraph Cove. However I am doing a couple of bear trips from there that start early in the day. I was initially told they would do a pick up from P M but have now been told I have to get down to T.C. Does anyone know a way other than by Taxi as I am on a Budget. Would renting a bike or scooter work out cheaper and can I actually do that from Port Mcneill?

Thanks

Victoria Questions about Seaplane to Vancouver
Posted: Sat January 13, 2007 01:59 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm thinking of taking seaplane from Victoria to Vancouver in April and it seems that there are only 2 seaplane companies (Harbour Air & West Coast Air).

I have emailed these companies about the schedule and reservation but there is no reply. Hope someone can help me with the following questions. Thank you.

- Is there any difference in which company I take the seaplane from?
- Do we need to reserve beforehand?
- Can we just purchase the ticket the day before departure? Will the ticket be sold out for a Sunday afternoon departure if we do that?

Thanks in advance!

Victoria Money Exchange
Posted: Sat December 23, 2006 11:45 PM UTC
Hello, I have just moved to Victoria and have a wad of Euros I'd like to exchange (since I won't be making any European trips for a while and could do with the money.) Does anyone know the best place to change it? The banks? I got robbed blind changing money in Toronto and don't want to repeat that...

Thank you for any suggestions!

Victoria Flash Photography not allowed ?
Posted: Thu November 9, 2006 02:40 PM UTC
You state that flash photography is not allowed in Craigdarroch Castle; yet I was just over there, (Oct. 2006) I asked, and they informed me that it was okay. I was using 2 different camera's, a tri-pod, and a mono-pod with no problem at all. I've got a Travelogue about Craigdarroch on my Victoria page.

Victoria Butchart Gardens worth it?
Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 10:38 PM UTC
Hi all and thanks for reading.

The reviews of Butchart Gardens make it sound like the best spot in Victoria and to absolutely not miss it. I'd certainly like to see it, but I'm only there for one day (ferry from PA about 10am, out at 4pm). I could certainly take the bus, but it appears that it requires a transfer at off-peak hours which means that the trip would realistically be 1 hour one-way.
I'm not a gardner in any way, but certainly appreciate flora and fauna and typically enjoy botanical gardens.
Should I go for this, or just bide my time in the city with the other things to do Downtown?

Victoria Where can I get a straight perm?
Posted: Sun July 30, 2006 11:38 PM UTC
I have approximately 17" long hair that I've highlighted last year, dont think that matters but it might, and I really want to get them straightened! I don't really want to pay over $250 for it though either. Can anyone reccomand me any places to go to? My hair is slightly wavy and not curly at all so I don't tihnk the salon will need to be extremely skilled.

Some Questions: How long would it take? Would it make me lose a lot of hair? Is it good or bad for your hair's health (i've heard both versions)? How long would it last for my type of hair?

Victoria Sundays

We will only be able to spend one day in Victoria. We will come up on the Seattle ferry in the morning and leave that same evening. Will all of the shops be open on a Sunday or would it be better to go on a Friday or Saterday?

Victoria BC Experience
Posted: Sun June 25, 2006 05:10 AM UTC
Okay - who is excited about the BC Experience? It opens this week! Frankly, I'm going to miss the "finger monkeys", but according to recent advertising material, when people view the giant 3D map of BC "their first response is emotional". As people are joking, that emotion is ANGER when they realize, "I PAID $14.95 FOR THIS?!?!?"

I would go if I could get in for free. :)

Victoria Fable cottage memory
Posted: Tue April 11, 2006 03:31 AM UTC
Hi,

I was reading the last readers question on Fable cottage and realize it has closed. My husband and 2 sons and my daughter. We were there in Victoria island in 1978. I loved the Butchart Gardens and Fable Cottage. I bought a gold frame plate of the Cottage. I just broke it yesterday and just fixed it.
I have always loved having it and remembering our visit. My children will always remember it. My daughter and myself wanted to go to the tea house to gether, but my husband was Running out of money and we had other places to go and then back to home to Southern California at that time. Do you have pictures of the area or Butchart Gardens. My daughter and I want to return to go to Butchart Gardens and have our tea, and of course sight seeing. We loved Victoria. Thank you, Jane Osborne

Victoria Hotel and Restaurants...pls help
Posted: Sat March 25, 2006 01:12 AM UTC
1) I booked a Penthouse Suite at the Laurel Point Inn. Could someone please tell me if that hotel does have the best view? That is what I am looking for...the best view. I was deciding between Laurel Point Inn and the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa. Or are there any other hotels anyone could recommend with better views? Price not an issue.

2). Could someone please recommend a fancy romantic restaurant by the harbour for a romantic dinner? Prefer Seafood or Steak restaurant...but my main priority must have romantic ambience. Price not an issue.
