Winnipeg Best Long-Term Parking
Posted: Thu August 13, 2009 03:11 PM UTC
My husband and I are gong to Churchill in October. We live in Minnesota, so we're just planning to drive to Winnipeg and take the flight to Churchill from there. Can anyone suggest a good, cheap and safe place to leave our car? We will be staying a couple of nights in Winnipeg, so our hotel may be an option, but we're not sure where we'll be staying yet. The airport is also probably an option, but I'm guessing that's expensive. If there are any better ideas we'd love to hear them.

We're also looking for suggestions on the best way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning. That's the only time we'll actually be free to do things in Winnipeg, but I imagine a lot of things will be closed...

Thanks!

Winnipeg Malborough Hotel
Posted: Wed April 8, 2009 06:17 AM UTC
Can anyone advise me whether it is safe to stay at the Malborough Hotel in downtown Winnipeg. We don't have a car as we are flying into Winnipeg. Is it a safe part of town? Most of the reviews say downtown Winnipeg is crime ridden. Which part of Winnipeg is safe? Please advise.

Winnipeg Hotel & Bar Q's
Posted: Sat August 2, 2008 06:14 AM UTC
I've got a trip up there in a few weeks and wanted to know where a good area to stay is in? Also, can anyone recommend some good bars/lounges/clubs ect...that are a little nicer. Somewhere the young professionals go.
Thanks

Winnipeg Best parking spots for concert at MTS Centre
Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 05:37 PM UTC
I am coming to Winnipeg, from North Dakota for a concert in July at the MTS Centre.
I know there are some safety concerns in downtown Winnipeg.

Where would be the best/safest parking spots for a concert at the MTS Centre to best avoid car theft, panhandlers, etc?

Thanks

Winnipeg Transportation

I will be flying into Winnipeg this July and need to get to Winnipeg Beach. Does anyone know of any sort of transportation to get me from the airport to the beach? Unfortunately, I won't be quite old enough to rent a car.

Winnipeg moving to winnipeg
Posted: Tue November 6, 2007 11:32 PM UTC
I'm thinking of moving from Calgary to Winnipeg . Recently visited and had some concerns about the city, ie; employment, crime, etc... I can handle the cold, but what is the quality of life really like. Is there a lot of rational tension between the native and non-native population. Downtown did seem a bit bleak with a disenfranchised, drunks hanging around. Although Calgary has its share of the same problem (maybe less visible). As well, can anyone give me an idea of what Winnipeg is like for artists?

Winnipeg Travel from Winnipeg to Chicago...
Posted: Wed April 12, 2006 04:27 AM UTC
We are travelling from Saskatoon to Nova Scotia. We would like ot make a pit stop in both Winnipeg and London. I hear the best way to do this would be to drive down through the states, hitting Chicago. Does anyone know how long this would take? Any helpful hints? Thanks.

Winnipeg WHAT ABOUT FROSTY THE SNOWMAN -- Will I See More of Him In Winnipeg?
Posted: Wed March 22, 2006 02:00 AM UTC
I want more SNOW -- the kind of snow and the kind of long winters I remember as a child in the midwestern United States. I like cold and beautiful snows. Is Winnipeg a good choice?

Winnipeg Third VT meeting in Winnipeg
Posted: Wed July 27, 2005 11:32 PM UTC
VT member birchy99 (from Oregon) is coming to Winnipeg for a dog show to show his wife and his bearded collies.

We are planning a VT meeting - this would be the third VT meeting that has been
held in Winnipeg, usually whenever a VT member from afar comes to visit. So
far, meetings have included spouses or significant others if people wish.

VT members always seem to have something to chat about. It is always cool to
compare notes on each others trips. It will be fun!

The date will be August 4th (Thursday evening) at 7:30pm at The Keg, 1275
Pembina Hwy (south Winnipeg). Mark it on your calendars.

Visit our meeting page at: http://meetings.virtualtourist.com/meeting-1923-1-0-902705-Winnipeg---meeting.html and sign yourself up so we can ensure we have reserved enough places at the table. Email me if you require any further information.

See you there!

Winnipeg Any cheap hotel at airport to recommend?
Posted: Wed May 11, 2005 08:22 AM UTC
I am taking a flight from Toronto to Vancouver in July, and will have to stay one night in Winnipeg for tranfer. I'll arrive at Winnipeg late (10pm) and leave the next morning (flight at 6:30am). All I need is a bed to sleep.
Are there some inexpensive motels around the airport? Thanks!

Winnipeg 2 questions....
Posted: Mon March 21, 2005 07:49 PM UTC
I'm coming to Winnipeg 6th-8th April during a 3 week train trip across Canada.

Been checking the weather and see that it's been -12 at night, which being from England where we don't get proper winters, I'm not used to! How cold is this?! Will I be alright in normal clothing, i.e jeans, shirt, warm jacket, hat & gloves?!

Also, any recommendations for a hotel fairly near to the train station, and ice hockey arena (off to watch Manotoba Moose 2&1/2 hours after arrival). One that's decent but not too expensive.

Thanks
