Yellowstone National Park Wireless access (sorry)
Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 02:33 PM UTC
I'm ashamed of myself for asking this, but my husband runs a small business and it would be helpful for him to be able to check his email while we're on vacation. Does anybody know if there is internet access anywhere inside Yellowstone? I'm torn between wanting the convenience and hoping the answer is no on general principles

Yellowstone National Park Best travel plans through Yellowstone for a first timer? HELP!
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 03:13 AM UTC
Hi Everybody,
I LOVE how helpful everyone is to eachother on this site so I was hoping this would be helpful to me as well.

There will be 3 of us adults and 3 kids (ages 15, 6 & 5) traveling to Yellowstone/Tetons this summer in mid July. Can anybody suggest the best route from Denver Colorado going through the park? Are there any MUST SEE stops to make?

We will be leaving 1st thing on a Friday morning and returning on a Monday evening. That's all the time we'll have to explore this time around.

Does anybody have any inexpensive camping/lodging suggestions while we're there? We are all on a budget seeing as how we have kids but we want them to experience the wild without us having to sleep outdoors. We plan on taking coolers with 3 days worth of food and a tiny little BBQ to cook on. Good idea?

I would be open and welcome to any help in planning a 4 day, 3 night trip seeing as how I have never been to Yellowstone and feel completely lost here.

Would you mind terribly emailing me directly at: AngieWaltr@aol.com
Thank you very much,
Angie

Yellowstone National Park June bigs
Posted: Sat April 5, 2008 04:52 AM UTC
We are planning on camping yellowstone late June. How are the mosquitoes and what about the biting flies? Are they only bothersome at dusk or are they around all day long. I've camped in both situations and will never camp where the mosquitos are bad again. Not worth it. Any recommendations on campgrounds inside the Park?

Yellowstone National Park Driving times and distances in Yellowstone and beyond

We will be staying at the Old Faithful Inn and have a mid-morning flight out of Jackson and were wondering how much driving time should we give it. Also how long would it take to drive from the Old Faithful Inn to the Lamar Valley to see the wolves and when is a good time to go to see them? Thanks for your information and advice.

Yellowstone National Park One night for Yellowstone!
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 02:16 AM UTC
My family is traveling from Bozeman Montana to Jackson Wyoming. I'd like to drive thru Yellowstone and spend one night somewhere in Yellowstone. Not familiar with my options at all and what the kids would enjoy (ages 16,14,12,10) . Keep in mind we are doing a White Water rafting trip on the Snake river when we get to Jackson. Any ideas?? I really sound like an East Coaster don't I!! Thanks in advance

Yellowstone National Park Breezing through yellowstone
Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 03:00 AM UTC
My boyfriend and I want to drive through Yellowstone on our way to Banff from California in late May. We don't have much time to stay, but figured the drive alone might be worth the visit. We'll be spending the previous night in Well's Nevada. The first option is to drive through Targhee National Forest and enter Yellowstone from the West entrance where we would spend the night and spend the next half day exploring parts of Yellowstone around the West side before we start heading north toward Butte. The second option is to drive through Grand Teton where we would spend the night, and spend the next day driving up through Yellowstone with some quick stops along the way. Given this quick time frame what are some must see quick stops along these two routes? Which route would you recommend to see some good sites without overdoing the driving time? Where would be a good place to camp? Am I trying to cram too much into one short trip? Thanks for your incite!

Posted: Sat August 11, 2007 02:51 PM UTC
Hey all! ok, i am an international student from Malaysia. well, i was born in malaysia but pretty much spent my entire life before coming to the states in Brunei. so here's the deal. family's coming over to the states for my graduation may next year and i really want to make their trip here a real special one. dad loves being outdoors and just enjoys natural beauty especially mountains. i have been reading about the park and the planning part but am at a complete lost as to which part of the park to visit. preferably a site with lots of breathtaking views of mountains and such. i know lots of them offer this but specifically which ones i have absolutely no idea. also i am pretty much new to hiking in the woods. saw a bunch of pictures from a friend's trip and just though that it would be an awesome idea to go on a trip like that. so yea, just about anything about the park, tips about hiking, just about anything related would be greatly appreciated. thanks all! enjoy the rest of your summers!!!

Yellowstone National Park Visiting Yellowstone and Grand Tetons on low budget
Posted: Tue July 24, 2007 04:04 PM UTC
2 of my firends and I are vising the park the last week of August for 4-5 days. We are on a low budget.

What camp sites in the park do you suggest? Any amazing day hikes that we should not miss?

Any hostels near the Grand Tetons or Jackson Hole? The only one I can find is Hostel X. Is it better just reserve a camp site?

What do you think I must see when there.

I know this post is broad, but I am trying to get as much info as possible without relying on just the park sites. Thanks for all your help.

Yellowstone National Park Not to miss suggestions
Posted: Thu May 17, 2007 03:52 PM UTC
There will be 7 of us (3 children 16,14 and 6 included) going to Grand Tetions and Yellowstone next July.
We will arrive at SLC on July 14th and sleep at an airport hotel. On the 15th in the morning we collect our car, spend a couple of hours in the city just to say "been there" and aim to the Tetons. We have booked 2 nights at Jackson lake Lodge. Then we head to Yellowstone, where we booked 2 nights by the East Entrance and another 2 by the West Entrance. There was nothing left insinde the Park when we started looking back at end March, so we have to go in and out of the Park during those days.
Does any of you suggest an itinerary and not to miss spots? We have an idea of what the park has to offer. I have a Lonely Planet book, etc, but a personal experience from anyone having been there recently makes a difference.
As he take kids, we cannot make very strenous hikes, even though the younger one is a good companion in walking trips.

Have we done well splitting our nights this way, even considering we have to backtrack every evening?

We'd like to do some rafting. I heard there is a company on the Tetons that takes young kids on an itinerary that's not too hard. Do you know any?

Thanks a lot!

Yellowstone National Park Good day hikes?
Posted: Sat April 7, 2007 04:02 PM UTC
I'll be in yellowstone for the first weekend of June. What would you recomend as a good day hikes about 15 miles long and away from the crowds? I'll be coming through the north entrance. Also a good campsite. if this is easier to do in the tetons let me know that is okay. I've only got two and a half days i need to make the most of it.

Yellowstone National Park Traveling with trailer from Pa
Posted: Mon April 2, 2007 06:06 PM UTC
Hi, planning a trip to yellowstone this summer. I have a 30 ft travel trailer which is pulled by a Chevy pickup truck. Traveling from Pa should be an experience one that we should enjoy if all goes well. My main concern is the mountians that I might encounter on my way to yellowstone. Have never been west so anything outside of Pa is new to me. I would like to know what is the best route, not mearly the shortest but the one which I wont encounter those huge mountian ranges i would need to climb over. We have some mountians here in Pa but nothing as i have heard I might encounter in the west. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Ed and Estelle

Yellowstone National Park Boise - Yellowstone - Glacier N.P.
Posted: Fri March 23, 2007 11:24 PM UTC
Hi!
My husband and I are young and active and are going to Boise - Grand Tetons - Yellowstone - Glacier N.P. - Boise loop from May 23-June 3rd. I want to see everything and anything and would love to break for some worthy hikes/backpacks in both parks (Tetons we plan to canoe, only 1-2 days there). We really only have about 3-4 days in each park, so please give me some advice on any "must sees" this time of year, since we are about to become ex-patriots (Singapore) and will not have access to this lovely land for a long while. We're both first timers as well.
Any and all help is much appreciated.
Cheers,
Leah

I`m planning a tour of Teton & Yellowstone parks during june initialy flying into salt lake city and hiring a car. Ive booked a 2 night stay at Jackson then intend to drive upto Gardiner driving through the parks on route for another 2 night stay, already booked.I have the car for nine days in total, had thought about driving back through yellowstone exiting at east entrance, and using the remainder of th car hire to see Arches national park staying at perhaps Vernal and Moab, before returning to Salt Lake City.Am I being a bit optimistic in thinking I can put this together.Coming from across the big pond I`m not too sure of what distances are involved and the time scale to be considered.Any advice about best sights to see would be greatly appreciated.

Yellowstone National Park Honeymoon in Yellowstone
Posted: Tue February 6, 2007 03:25 AM UTC
My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon trip to Yellowstone. We are looking for suggestions for accomadations. We would like to spend some nights in a hotel (less rustic, more honeymoon like) and maybe some nights in a more rustic setting. Are there vacation home rental options available near the park? Is Jackson, WY close enough to get to experience the park on day trips? We would both appreciate any info!
