Any sugesstions about this itinerary and advice how to get from one point to another Posted: Tue April 14, 2009 10:38 PM UTC
Hi, I have planned 34 day - itinerary traveling in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. However I am not sure about amount of days in any particular place. For example is it enough 2 days in one place or maybe 2 days is too long? Did I allow enough time to travel between places? Could you please take a quick look and have some suggestions for improvement. Also I am not sure how to get from one place to another; we are thinking train, bus, car combination. If you have any suggestions could you copy and paste my itinerary into your reply box and make changes there? Thanks a lot.
Tania

hotels in oslo, copenhagen and stockholm Posted: Wed September 10, 2008 01:35 AM UTC
Hi, VT members, I need your help. We are planning to go to Scandinavia next late spring, but I do not know which hotels I have to book. We are looking for the centrally located hotels with a price range ~ $180-230 per night/ per room. We are looking for a certain comfort, but I do not want to overpay. Would you please suggest the names of the hotels and provide your opinion about them. Thank you very much in advance.

Scandinavia Posted: Tue September 9, 2008 11:11 AM UTC
Good day Vters,
Can I have a piece of advise, if it is alright to join a tour on scandinavia for 12 days,
which will cost me 1,700 US$ for the duration of the tours, or will I be able to do it on our own via eurail or the like. do you think it will be possible? if so,then how about accommodations? will it be hard to get a hotel near the train station for two.and will it be safe. thanks a lot for the help.Am running out of time since we plan to leave 1st or 2nd week of October..
thanks a lot.

Trains in Scandinavia Posted: Tue August 19, 2008 03:32 AM UTC
Hello!
We will travel to Norway, Sweden, and Copenhagen at the end of September.
It makes financial sense for us to purchase railpasses. We are debating purchasing a Scansaver pass, or else a Select pass (first class).
Are many/most of the trains in Scandinavia second class only? Is second class comfortable for longer train rides (e.g. greater than 4 hours).
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

cruises to St, Petersburg Posted: Tue November 6, 2007 03:16 AM UTC
Interested in a 7 day scandinavian cruise which includes St. Petersburg. Not a lover of cruising, but seems to be the best way to get around this area. Any opinions? Looking to travel next August and need a locale that is not a hot climate (can't take Rome or Paris anymore during a heat wave). Want to be with a "middle-age" crowd....not too wild but not on a weeklong nap! Would love to hear about experiences on Regent Seven Seas or similar line or alternatives.
Thanks.

Heading for Scandinavia Posted: Fri April 21, 2006 11:33 PM UTC
Hi All:
A friend and I will embark on a trip that starts in Helsinki and ends in northern Norway this coming July. The stops are:
Helsinki, FIN
Stockholm, SWE
Oslo, NO
Trondheim, NO
Bodo, NO
Lofoten Islands, NO
So, if anyone has any helpful, money saving tips on trains and hostels that would be very helpful info. I also love trying new beers so whatever advice you have on that matter is greatly appreciated!
