Brasov Dracula's Castle Stay
Posted: Thu June 12, 2008 10:31 PM UTC
I asked this question in the general Romania forum but I'm asking here to just in case it gets more bites...

I know that in many castles in Europe, some of the rooms have been made into hotel rooms to where, provided your willing to cough up the money, you can overnight there. My question is if that is the case with the castle known as Dracula's castle (I believe it's also called Bran Castle).

Brasov Rasnov,Bran and Prejmer in a day.
Posted: Thu February 21, 2008 10:08 AM UTC
Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if it would be possible to visit Rasnov fortress,Bran castle and Prejmer church all in one day using public transport and/or taxis, and if so how much would it be and roughly how long would you be able to spend in each. Also, does anyone know the exact opening days/times for each place as I seem to get conflicting answers from various websites and guide books.
Cheers.

Brasov Butoiul Sasului
Posted: Wed February 6, 2008 08:53 PM UTC
I went with my mother to have lunch at Butoiul Sasului but the owner of this restaurant did not allow us to use washroom's facility located outside the dining area. Is it any other place where we should have gone before eating in that particular restaurant?

Brasov A room in the centre of Brasov
Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 09:39 AM UTC
I have been searching the internet for hours now, for a single room in Brasov for a reasonable price but am coming up blank. Everywhere seems so expensive. Don't really want a dorm situation. Can anyone help, please? What I would really like is a room with a family. Maybe someone knows somebody who lets rooms in their house.

Brasov Bella Muzica Hotel
Posted: Thu August 2, 2007 02:37 AM UTC
Hello,

I am planning to be in Brasov for one night in early September. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has stayed at the Bella Muzica Hotel. Or is there anyone living in Brasov that knows if this is a nice hotel and worth the money you pay to stay here? Are there any hotels in Brasov nicer than Bella Muzica Hotel. I appreciate all responses. Thanks!

Brasov Mother in Law visiting what to take her to see
Posted: Tue July 24, 2007 10:06 PM UTC
My MIL will be here next week for a month and we plan on doing a bunch of tourist stuff. We have not had the opportunity to do a whole lot due to my husband's job taking a lot of his time. But with his mom coming he plans on taking some time off so we can show her around. I don't know if we will have time for everything and I have having trouble deciding on what to do while she is here. We have been to Poiana and Tampa but cannot decide on the rest...What are some must sees while she is here. I have looked all over the website but there is so much to do, I can't decide. Also I plan on taking her to a concert at the Black Church but couldn't find anything in English to tell us when.

Brasov May weather
Posted: Wed February 21, 2007 04:59 AM UTC
Our trip is still in the works but our move dates have been pushed back to May 1st from Mid-march. I went to the packing section but it really didn't give me much of an idea of what type of clothes to bring. In general what are the temps for for around the first of May. Will we still need some long-sleeved shirts? Are the nights still chilly but days warm? Where I am from May is pretty hot with high humidity. Just a general idea would be nice. I don't want to waste our precious luggage space on things that we wont need. Also I just want to say thanks to all of you who are taking the time to answer my many, many questions about the area and life there. I know I have asked a lot of questions and this website seems to be the best I have found. No one is hateful or ugly when I ask somewhat stupid questions. I am just determined to know as much about the city I am moving to as well as much of your language as possible. I think the worst thing we could do would be not to learn any language or anything about life there. So thank you for your paitance and understanding.
Multumesc

Brasov Going to school in Romania?
Posted: Sat February 17, 2007 03:40 AM UTC
Going to school in Romania?
My family will be moving to Brasov, Romania in March or April. I now homeschool both my daughters and my husband has an early morning job which allows us to spend the majortiy of our days together as a family. But with the move the girls will be attedning private school and my husband will be running a factory with regular 9-5 hours. This leaves me with a lot of time on my hands, I do intend to see the sites in and around Romania as well as travel some outside the country but with my family. So with that said during my everyday life I don't know what to do. I know that with our high income I will enjoy shopping some but refuse to allow that to be my life. So I am wondering if I am allowed to continue my education there? What would I need to do to finish college. Would I need a different visa and what if we come home to the US, is my degree good here? What are good colleges near Brasov. My passion is midwifey. Does anybody know how I can achieve this

Brasov Currency in Brasov, Romania?
Posted: Sat February 17, 2007 03:38 AM UTC
Currency in Brasov, Romania?
I am aware that right now Brasov is using 3 different types of currency, the old Lei, the RON and the Euro. I am nervous about becoming confused while shopping, taking taxis and paying bills. I was hoping someone could offer some tips as to the best way to get used to this without getting ripped off or losing a lot of money by making stupid mistakes. What about US ATM or checks? Should I carry all 3 currencies with me at all times or just one. This is very confusing to me? Please help.

Brasov Shopping in Brasov
Posted: Sat February 17, 2007 03:36 AM UTC
Shopping in Brasov, Romania?
I am curious about the grocery shooping in Brasov. I am used to bulk shopping here in the US sometimes only once or twice a month. How is it normaly done there. Do people shop daily at either outdoor markets or stores? In our rented apartment should I expect a smaller fridge? If shopping tends to more of a daily activity can you offer some suggestions that will make the transitiontion easier for me. What are some of the better stores or markets? I also read somewhere about milk being sold in bags? Is this true, it seemed very odd to me. I would love any suggestions about products or tips on making this easier for me.

We are moving to Romania sometime in March or early April and I know that there are some differences in products. What I am looking for are Romanian Products that are similer to brands I am familier with in the Southern US. Such as grocery items, cleaning products and washing powders. I am trying to make the trasition as easy on myself and the children as possible. We will be in Brasov, Romania. Also what are the best stores to find them at?

Brasov Brasov -vs- Sighisoara
Posted: Thu February 1, 2007 06:57 PM UTC
I want to spend approx. 3 days in Transylvania and don't know where to go. I've read Brasov is interesting but more touristic. What I'm looking for is a place with interesting architecture, scenery and with warm people, but free of touts as possible. I don't mind about museums, but wouldn't say no to a medieval castle.
Any suggestions? Or should I share my time to both places? I hope to be there in mid-May 2007 without pre-booking accommodation or train/bus. Will that be fine for both towns?

Brasov Library or bookstore
Posted: Sat January 6, 2007 04:12 AM UTC
Is there an english library in Brasov or places that we can buy books and videos? I know that there are quite a few people who speak english there but I am still unsure sure how much we will be affected by not speaking or reading romanian. We are trying to figure out what we need to bring with us and what we can leave here in the US. What about board games, will we be able to find any in english? Or should we send ours ahead of us?

We were told that most medicines we would need are available over the counter instead of by prescription from a doctor. What are the medicines that you cannot buy over the counter and need a doctor to write you a prescription?

I think we will need to by an adapter for the outlet though.. right? Would we buy those here or in Brasov?
