Richmond Richmond transortation (bus stops)
Posted: Fri June 27, 2008 04:06 AM UTC
I have already found a map of the Richmond bus stops (http://www.ridegrtc.com/images/systemmapMay2008.pdf), but I still do not know how to get where I need to be on 02 July. Can someone please help? I will be arriving at the Amtrak station, and need to go to 2812 Emerywood Pkwy. Directions for a car say to take the 64 W exit Broad St./Glenside North, and then make a few more turns for about a mile, but I will not be taking a car, and will have to get there by a Richmond bus.

In addition, does anyone know of a cheaper--and much better!--to get to Richmond than Greyhound? I am coming from Charlottesville, a town that only has transportation to D.C., if any.

Thank you very much in advance.

Do you know of anyone in Richmond Virginia who knew about Tantilla Gardens or Tiny Town? It was torn down but during the 1930-40's the "South's most beautiful ballroom had famous orchestras like Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, etc.

Richmond Moving to Richmond
Posted: Fri November 3, 2006 07:12 PM UTC
I am moving to Richmond and know very little about the city or the area. The company I'll be with is located by the airport on the east side.

Please provide suggestions as to areas to live - will want to rent an apartment/home for a few months before purchasing so as to understand the area.

Thanks

Richmond Car Rental From Train Station (Either Staples Mill or Downtown)
Posted: Wed June 14, 2006 09:10 PM UTC
Hi!

I'm a former Richmonder who left the city for school (undergrad in DC), then for work (Taiwan), and now again for a graduate degree (Boston).

I visiting the old hometown this summer, but need a rental car. I'm taking the train from and back to DC.

Does anyone know of a company offhand with a location within walking distance of either train station? Every rental company I've looked at so far (going on 7 now), only offer cars from RIC Airport. That is not very convenient since I plan to stay in the city the whole time.

I would prefeer something at the downtown station. I'm excited that the Main station is open! It was just a proposal when I left!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Richmond Slip to Bottom
Posted: Wed June 7, 2006 03:37 PM UTC
Hi all,
We're coming in to do some golfing (boys get away weekend). Is the distance between the Slip and the Bottom walkable/safe? Or should we plan on one Fri night and the other Sat night (or something like that)?
Never been to Richmond before. Mapquest makes it seem walkable (less length than walking across the FQ in Nola, but having no idea what the neighborhoods are like, thought I'd ask.
Thanks!

Richmond How to get from Richmond to Kings Dominion?
Posted: Sat January 21, 2006 09:32 AM UTC
Is there a tour company or any form of transportation that can take one from Richmond VA to Kings Dominion? Is there a hotel that offers a shuttle between the two destinations?
We do not want to rent a car and drive.

The other option we are looking at is from Baltimore to Kings Dominion?

Richmond Any recs for Richmond nightclubs????
Posted: Mon May 23, 2005 04:44 AM UTC
Going on road trip. Trying to decide whether to stop in Richmond or just keep going right to Charlotte. Have heard about Schock ?? Bottom as being good for nightlife in Richmond? Any specific clubs to go to or avoid? Friend of mine used to live in Charlotte but he is married and was not able to give any specific names for clubs in Charlotte. Atlanta - open to your suggestions. A friend of mine would like to check out the strip clubs - I'm open to checking out one club - so what would you recommend as a good one? He's heard that Atlanta has some world-class strip clubs???

Richmond Relocating to Richmond
Posted: Fri August 27, 2004 01:45 PM UTC
Hello, my husband and I are relocating to the Richmond area in June 2005. we're looking at the Chesterfield County/Midlothian area. And suggestions for which neighborhoods are good with good schools? I will be pregnant and would also like to know which hospitals are the best in that area. My husband and I are from the NYC area and are very excited about moving to Richmond. The times I've been there have been great. My one concern, and I don't mean to offend anyone with this question, is that my husband and I are very liberal and people who probably don't know any better have told us that we won't fit it, that we'll be isolated. Especially since we're from the north. That can't be true, right? I've been to Richmond many times and have family in Charlottesville. I've met only wonderful people. Please give me something to say to all the killjoys. Thank you,

Richmond Virginia State Fair - Worth it?
Posted: Mon August 23, 2004 08:39 PM UTC
I live in Maryland and my wife and I are always on the lookout for weekend trips. We have talked about going to Richmond for a while and we will definitely go sometime in October or November. My question is whther it is worth going to the State Fair. It seems like its pretty expensive ($13 in advance, $18 at the gate), so if its just another fair (like Maryland, which is pretty small and kind of junky), I wouldn't bother. But I also once went to the New Mexico State Fair and it was great. Any comments appreciated.

Richmond Transportation in Richmond, VA?
Posted: Wed April 28, 2004 01:52 PM UTC
what is the best/cheapest way to get from Richmond, VA to Williamsburg, VA? Is there public transportation between these cities (what bus, subway or train numbers, stations to get on and off etc...)? Or is the only way between these cities to rent a car?
