San Antonio Vacation rentals in San Antonio area
Posted: Sun January 7, 2007 09:33 PM UTC
I just tried posting this and it didn't seem to take so I'm trying again--sorry if it turns out to be a repeat!

I'm looking for a vacation rental (condo or house or cottage or cabin) in the San Antonio, TX area for a week in April '07. My husband and I are traveling there with our two teenagers and would prefer that over getting a few hotel rooms.

Would prefer a 3-bedroom but will settle for a 2 bedroom (even one bedroom if the living room is large enough!).

I've perused the internet and found a few places but thought I'd check in with my favorite travel website, too, to get some suggestions.

Thanks!

San Antonio Wanting to live in San Antonio
Posted: Tue October 24, 2006 12:37 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm thinking about moving to the South someday in the future and I was wondering if some of you guys could help me with some information.
I grew up in Venezuela (a tropical country, near the beach) but I have lived in Missouri/Kansas for 12 years. Now that I have a family and two kids I realize that I’m staying in the US to raise my family (can’t move around so easily as before).

I’m a little tired of living in the center of the US where people look down on me if I speak spanish, I really want my kids to speak spanish, I want to live closer to the beach/ocean, I want to live in a city that is family friendly (not Miami), I want to live away from cities with racist people or history (South-East US), I also wouldn’t mind traveling to Mexico by car to visit a Latin-American city every now and then without having to spend $800 per person to go to Venezuela, I’m also a christian (not fanatic, respectful of other religions) and very proud of my latino/hispanic heritage.

Based on this, I believe that San Antonio is a perfect city for me and my family. Seems close to the beach, Mexico, has a lot of hispanic historic places (I like that), big hispanic population, warm, not a party city like Miami, etc, etc.

What do you guys think?
Can you please tell me the bad things about San Antonio, I’ve found many things that make me like San Antonio, but I also need to know the bad ones.
I’ve heard something about the water not being completely clean, very hot during the summer, any problems with military people (they tend to be party animals)?

San Antonio Relocation Information
Posted: Fri September 1, 2006 10:54 PM UTC
I have been having a little trouble finding information on relocation. I hope someone out there can help with "what's it really like living in San Antonio". I like a zoo, water (lakes, river), walking-hiking-jogging paths in the park, a nice home that that is not over 200k in a nice neighborhood. I currently live in Tucson, AZ (leaves a person with not a lot of options of activities). Help? Thank You, Diana

San Antonio Walk or drive the Missions?
Posted: Mon July 10, 2006 06:16 PM UTC
I read that you can walk the missions national park, but some say a vehicle is mandatory. Which is it? If you are a healthy adult is it better to see the missions on foot than in a car? I think you experience more walking about than sitting in a car and driving from place to place if the distances are not that great.

San Antonio San Antonio Living
Posted: Sun June 11, 2006 05:48 PM UTC
Our family is seriously considering a major re-location move to San Antonio from Orange County, Southern California. Primary motivation is to lower lifestyle pace and live a simpler life. Our son is 11 years old, and a good school is vital. I am looking to transit from a technical account management position in the aviation industry, into any job market I can transfer my many skills into.
We do know about the heat, we made it a point to visit last August for evaluation. The people all treated us with a warm demeanor, our neighbors here in So. Ca don't really want to take the time (or maybe have the time) to get to know one another.

Any real advise would be appreciated.

PS, If you know of a more appropriate forum, please let us know.
Thank you.

Hi,

We stay in Dallas, TX, my husband an myself are planning to drive to San Antonio for the memorial day weekend. We are planning to stay for 2 days and visit the seaworld. Since, this is our first trip, could you provide any suggestions, like what are the good hotels/studios available near the seaworld at reasonable rates, do we have to reserve them in advance, or can it be reserved after we arrive there, what are the other nearby places to seaworld that are good to visit? Do you know of any indian restaurants nearby? What all attractions are good to see in the seaworld?

San Antonio parks for picnicking?
Posted: Tue March 28, 2006 06:02 PM UTC
What are the best parks for picnicking? If it's somewhat quiet/relaxing it's a big plus, as well as if there's a lake/river/pond in it.

Also, has anyone been to the Botancial Gardens or the McNay Museum? Are they worth going to?

San Antonio folk venues and musicians in SA?
Posted: Tue March 14, 2006 04:59 AM UTC
Hi, I'll be in San Antonio from May 23 and 30, and I'm interested in learning about the local singer-songwriter/folk-ish musicians, and venues. I know that Kerrville Folk festival starts when I am in SA, but I'm also interested in finding more of the regular venues...
Thanks in advance...
