San Antonio Local VTrs Downtown Next Week?
Posted: Wed January 21, 2009 09:20 AM UTC
I'm coming in next Monday for a conference, and will only be there through Wednesday. Since it's a short trip I won't be renting a car and will be staying at the Omni La Mansion Del Rio. Without wheels, I'll be spending most of my free time on the river walk. If there are any local VTrs that would like to meet for coffee or a stroll along the river (or to tell me local secrets of all the things around SA that I've missed) please drop me an email.

San Antonio What to Do and Eat on Riverwalk
Posted: Mon October 27, 2008 04:27 PM UTC
I am heading to San Antonio for a convention near the end of November. I won't have a car, so I was hoping for some ideas of what to do and eat around the Riverwalk area. I will have limited time to do things as I will be attending the convention, but I was hoping to check out some of the area while I was there. Thanks for your advice!

San Antonio Need moderate price clean hotels in safe area on riverwalk or very near it.
Posted: Tue October 21, 2008 10:52 PM UTC
We are planning to spend 4 week-days in San Antonio in early to mid november. Can you recommend a clean, well located hotel on riverwalk where it is safe to walk in day or evening. We will not have car but will take available tours from the hotel. We are seniors who love to walk. We don't need a pool but would like a free continental breakfast and maybe free internet.

San Antonio San Antonio to NOLA
Posted: Thu August 14, 2008 01:17 AM UTC
We leave SA on Aug 23 and are heading to NOLA for 3 days or so...

Should we rent a car to get from SA to NOLA and make stops along the way?

We have two days to make the trip and would like to see as much as possible.

I had thought of overshooting NOLA and into Mobile or Biloxi for a night then backtracking to NOLA. Or perhaps take a night in Galveston and a night in Baton Rouge?

What do you think?

Perhap's a tour bus is a better and cheaper option?

P

San Antonio Missions Bike Trail?
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 11:33 PM UTC
I read somewhere that there is a 7-mile bike trail that connects all the missions churches. Has anyone ever done this or know anything about it? Is there a place to rent bike or would I have to bring my own?

San Antonio What's Around San Antonio?
Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 06:32 PM UTC
I will be arriving next Sunday, 6/8/08 about noon. I'll be traveling alone, so my schedule is completely flexible. I like outdoor scenic areas. What are some interesting things to see and do out of the city, and outdoors? Obviously it would have to be something I could do between noon and dark. I'll be in meetings for 3 days near the river walk, so would like to do something different on Sunday. THANKS!

San Antonio Surprise 50th Birthday Trip
Posted: Fri February 15, 2008 01:20 PM UTC
I am planning a surprise birthday trip for my husband's 50th to San Antonio on March 14-16th. We have never been there before. It will be my 3 grown children, and my Mother In Law (78). We are flying in and not renting a car to save cost. I am wondering your recommendations on where to stay on the Riverwalk that will not be terribly expensive and be close to all attractions. ALl the hotel sites seem to have different ratings. We need to use the trolley and public transportaion and want to see everything. Any suggestions on restaurants and other things "not to miss" would be great. Thanks.

San Antonio Home cooking
Posted: Mon December 31, 2007 03:57 PM UTC
Anybody know where I can get some down home cooking in San Antonio? Not BBQ or Mexican food, much as I love both. I mean blue plate specials where the locals eat. Chicken fried steak, pork chops, meat loaf, cornbread, greens --- that kind of food.

San Antonio Thanksgiving parade on riverwalk
Posted: Mon November 19, 2007 12:14 AM UTC
I am interested in reserving for the dinner in a restaurant along the riverwalk for Friday 11-23-2007, so we can watch the parade. I can't seem to find any info on restaurant reservation on the internet. Does anyone have idea which restaurants are at good locations for parade viewing? I prefer Italian, Mexican or Chinese restaurants, but they rank below good viewing locations.

Thanks

My husband and I thinking of going to San Antonio this weekend. Being native Texans we have been many, many times already. However, we have only ever done the same old things (riverwalk, The Alamo...etc). I'm looking for other suggestions of things that we may have never done before... Any ideas will help!! Thanks!
