hiking trails along the Guadalupe River?

Hello, I'm planning a trip to Kerrville soon. I would like advice on finding hiking or walking trails that go along the Guadalupe River. I have been to the paths close to town.

What I'm looking for are trails and access to the river further up- or down-stream. Where it's a little more remote, tree lined, where could sit by the river with friends, maybe put our feet in? For example, is there a greenbelt anywhere on the outskirts of town?
