Houston Best Route from Cypress to Pasadena
Posted: Sun September 13, 2009 02:05 PM UTC
Hi, I've actually been living in Houston (Cypress) for about a month now and I have to communte weekdays to Pasadena. I am on a very tight budget and cannot easily afford to take the toll roads. I leave everyday about 7 AM and it takes me usually about 1 hour and 40 minutes. My question is as follows: is there a better (faster) route than what I'm taking currently (posted below). I live about 7 miles from Jones/290 and I take 290 to 610 to I-10 back to 610 to 225 and to the appropriate Pasadena exit. My gps says to take 610 to 45 to 225, but I've quickly learned trying to get on 45 is a mistake. I would be greatly indebted to anyone that could reccomend a route that would shave off time and therefor shave off the stress of worrying if I'm going to be late.

Houston Travelling to Houston
Posted: Tue September 8, 2009 11:44 AM UTC
This is my first time trip to houston and this is also my first time in US. I would fly to houston in next couple of weeks on business, will be staying in Courtyard Houston Northwest, and my office just opposite the main road.
Is taking cab/taxi convenient in this area? not sure if i could drive here if i don't owned an international license.
How far from the place I stay with Houston city area - the most happening in town?
Any of the interesting place that i shouldn't miss during my visit?
Is there a rail station from where i stay?

Appreciate of any input given here.

Thanks

Houston Houston Airport - Arriving Terminal C leaving Terminal A
Posted: Wed July 8, 2009 12:24 AM UTC
Hi!

Is someone familiar with the Houston airport? My sister in law will be arriving from McAllen Texas into Houston (Continental Airlines) and continuing onto Calgary, Alta. from Terminal A. Continental tells us that she will likely arrive into Terminal C but that could change at any time.

She has a tight connection and will have a baby and child along. We are all unfamiliar with the airport and wondering about distance/transportation between terminals etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Houston 2 airports 1 hotel
Posted: Tue April 21, 2009 04:39 PM UTC
Is there a good hotel that provides complimentary transportation to and from both Bush International Airport and Hobby? We have international guests making a 1 day stopover in Houston flying in to the International airport, staying overnight at a hotel, then flying onward from Hobby early the next morning.

Houston living in Houston
Posted: Mon April 13, 2009 12:15 AM UTC
I've recently interviewed for a job in Houston. THey haven't let people know about the job offers yet, but I though I'd ask what it's like to live in Houston -- other than the traffic I've heard about! What are the best and worst things about living there? How bad are the hurricanes? Where are the good places to start looking for a house?

Thanks!

Houston Alternative Accommodations
Posted: Sat March 28, 2009 04:54 AM UTC
If one wanted to stay in Houston for 1 to 2 months but didn't want to spend the rates hotels charge, are there places to rent that offer a reasonable rate and yet are flexible re the duration?

I've heard a rumor that 3-month minimum rentals are the norm in Houston.

Houston Question regarding visitors during stay
Posted: Tue March 10, 2009 12:38 PM UTC
To whom it may concern,
I have booked a 24 night stay at the Homestead by the Galleria in Houston (business trip). Checkin 22 March 2009, Checkout April 2009.

My wife has some preliminary plan to visit me during the last nights of my stay.

I have two questions to you:
1) How is the daily rate affected if shortening- or extending the stay?
2) Is it OK if my wife stays in my room during the last nights (no extra beds needed)? Will any extra charges be added?

Looking forward to your response!

Kind regards,

Karl-Oskar Lidstrom

Houston Car rental with a twist
Posted: Thu January 29, 2009 11:38 AM UTC
Hi. Myself and three friends are coming to texas for two weeks in March and are going to do a bit of driving around the state checking out during that time.

We therefore need to rent a car but wanted to rent something a bit different.

We were thinking something old with bench seats, maybe a convertible or maybe something big!

Does anyone know any rental companies that do out of the ordinary vehicles?

We fly in to Houston International.

Cheers!

Houston How long to recheck bags in Houston IAH?
Posted: Wed January 28, 2009 01:11 PM UTC
Hi everybody,

I will be traveling from Europe to Cancun via Houston IAH and I will be flying with 2 different and non-partner airlines. This means I will have to recheck all my luggage to get on the 2nd flight.

I have been reading comments about the IAH airport and I have understood the following so far:
- Flying in with Air France I should be arriving at Terminal D.
- Flying out with Continental Airlines (to Cancun) I should be leaving from Terminal E
- IAH is a big airport, "Texas size" as some described it so you should plan enough time to go from one terminal to another (even using the internal train)
- I am not sure where the baggage claim area is... one for each terminal or a central one (if so where is it located?) ?

Now taking into account all that my question is:
How long should I plan to get through the baggage-claim / recheck / security check process so that I will be in time for the second flight?

Houston Moderate Hotels in Houston
Posted: Sat January 3, 2009 02:47 PM UTC
Good day to Every one and Compliments of the Seasons.

I am planning on a trip to Houston for the OTC in May this year, and would greatly appreciate if some one could recommend a moderate Hotel for a period 5-7nights; something within $100 per night would just be fine.

Thanks for your usual kind advice.

Houston Houston Space Center crowds

Your suggestions on when better for smaller crowds visiting the Space Center, Dec. 31, Jan. 1, or Jan. 6. Seems New Year's could be very crowded but then again it could mean that nobody goes then and it is empty.

Houston Four Seasons Houston or The Lancaster?
Posted: Tue November 18, 2008 03:04 PM UTC
I'll be in Houston for two nights in the late spring to attend an opera. I've narrowed my hotel choices to The Lancaster or The Four Seasons. I've booked a King Room at The Lancaster and a Deluxe King (Does anyone know if the Poolside rooms are nicer?) at The Four Seasons. I've never been to Houston before so any feedback would be appreciated. FYI, I'll be without a car so hope to have a variety of food options and "things to walk to" in the immediate vicinity. Thanks!

P.S. Any other hotel suggestion in the 4 to 5 star "old world Luxury" category would be welcomed.

Houston Long layover in Houston
Posted: Thu October 9, 2008 02:52 AM UTC
On Monday, my friend and I will be arriving in Houston at 7:44 A.M. and departing for Lima at 3:55 P.M. (Unfortunately, only one seat on the later flight from Tampa was available for frequent flyer travel.)
The idea of hanging around an airport for eight hours is dismaying, to say the least.

Do you know of a hotel, preferably with a good restaurant, where we could hang out instead? Another possibility would be a movie, if there's a theater complex within easy reach of the airport.

I would certainly appreciate the suggestions of members familiar with Houston.

Thanks,
Harriett
