Retired ladies need info about Dallas sightseeing Posted: Mon February 11, 2008 05:09 PM UTC
My friend and I will be in Dallas the first of May and would like to see some highlights of Dallas. We have read about Mary Kay tour, which sounds interesting, and also about a lot of import/export stores on Harry Hines Blvd. Can you give us any info about these areas??? And any other suggestions?? Also a nice local owned restaurant, moderate priced. Thanks for all your suggestions and help.

Rodeo show on Tuesday? Posted: Mon February 11, 2008 12:21 AM UTC
We will be driving through southern states in April and according to the plan we will arrive to Dallas on April 8th (Tuesday). Unfortunately all of the rodeo shows I was able to locate so fat were only on Fri/Sat. Any suggestions where can we go on a workday? It does not have to be exactly in Dallas, anywhere along the way from New Orleans to Dallas or from Dallas to Albuquerque...

In Need of Inexpensive Place to Stay This April Posted: Sat February 2, 2008 03:13 PM UTC
Hi, fellow travelers. I'm wondering of any of you can tell me of a fairly decent and low-cost place that I can rent for the month of April only. It needs to be close to the DART busline and not too far from the downtown area (or at least kind of easy to get there). It will be just myself; I don't want to spend over $500. What do you recommend? And thanks to all of you in advance!!

a fun layover Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 05:06 AM UTC
I am flying into DFW airport at 8pm on a friday night in march. I want to go see the grassy knoll and see some live blues and be back to the airport by 4:am saturday. How can i do this without a rental car. What venues would be fun and near my path. I enjoy the adventure of public transport if it is somewhat direct.

Dallas in Early February...advice for areas to stay Posted: Mon December 31, 2007 03:36 AM UTC
Hi, I am thinking of a 4-5 day trip to Dallas-Fort Worth in early February. I do want to see the JFK sites, but also like museums and art galleries. I do not know Dallas, and wonder what area of the city might be best to stay at: from the websites I have visited I think Downtown would be best for JFK related sites, but wonder if the Market Center area might be more economical for me...it is easy to get to downtown? Also the Galleria area sounds like it would have stuff of interest...again is it easy to get to downtown, and back? I would also like to visit the arts district of Forth Worth, esp, the Kimbell Art Museum...I assume that local buses make the trip to and from FW easy. I see a lot of hotels of decent prices in the Airport areas, but wonder if they are too far out to be practical. I do not want to rent a car. Being from Canada, any weather is better than Canada: is Feb. a wet month? I assume a light jacket will suffice.
Thanks to any and all for tips and advice.

Dallas VTers Posted: Thu December 27, 2007 07:09 PM UTC
Hello all...
I just got back from a couple years in Australia, and we actually got the VT meetings in Melbourne and Sydney going pretty strong. Are any of you interested in starting some here? Every other month or so? I would be glad to help organize and negotiate some good rates at restaurants....
What suburbs are you in?

Good place for a Sunday gathering Posted: Mon October 15, 2007 10:15 PM UTC
A friend of mine from grad school is getting married in India in February 2008, but I cannot get out to the wedding. Instead, I'd like to throw her a small bridal shower with about 5-15 other women. I'm open to ideas. I'm looking for something nice, not prim and proper, a quiet location with yummy food where we can celebrate my friend's upcoming nuptuals. I'm looking to fly out there in early to late January.
I'm open to restaurants, a bed and breakfast, a small hotel room with kitchennette, etc. Eh, throw some ideas my way please--thanks!

Good/Bad areas Posted: Tue October 2, 2007 11:16 PM UTC
I will be visiting Dallas next July/August.So my question is where do i stay?(Not a particular hotel)
What are the good areas ,what areas do i not want to be staying in.It does not have to be walking distance to restaurants etc. Just a safe area ,we'll have a car and don't mind driving. So if you think Fort Worth ,Arlington or whatever were not bothered ,just something in the General Dallas area.I have no knowledge of the area what so ever,as far as what is good or bad.

Dallas vacation Posted: Sun September 30, 2007 04:53 PM UTC
My wife & I are in Dallas [ Based in Plano to be exact ] for the last week of October and we were wondering;
What kind of weather can we expect?? Should we bring shorts & t's or woolies!!
What is there for a couple of 40-somethings to do in the evening??
What are public transport links like [ especially around Plano as, being Brits, we like to have a drink or two which precludes the use of our rental car - Taxi recommendations particularly welcome!!

Dallas vs Ft Worth Posted: Fri June 15, 2007 02:44 AM UTC
Myself and a group of 5 of my friends will be coming down to the Dallas area for 5 days in October for the Pats/ cowboys game. We are all 30 years old and are looking to have some fun away from our "normal" lives at home. This trip is an annual event and has been going on for almost 10 years. I wasnt sure if we are better off staying in Ft Worth or Dallas? Will there be enough to do in Ft Worth? Hotel recommendations? Costs? What would you recommend? Any help would be great.

loooking for fun inexpensive stuff to do... Posted: Wed May 2, 2007 12:21 AM UTC
Hey! I'm a local to the dallas area (grand prairie), and my boyfriend and i are looking for some things to go out and see/do to get us out of the house. we've become homebodies and don't really want to get used to it!
most of the things i can think of, like zoos and museums and stuff like that, close kind of early. any suggestions of stuff that stays open a little later? like 7 or 8?
even better would be stuff that's open 24 hours, or late night stuff. since parks and things like that are supposed to "close" at midnight.
any suggestions you guys could give would ROCK! thanks!

Looks like I'm coming to Dallas Posted: Mon January 15, 2007 12:17 AM UTC
Hey Everybody (especially those of you who live in the Dallas area),
It looks as if I might be moving that way, so I was hoping I might be able to gather some insight from the locals there. So far it is just me (single white female, 25 years old) and Jack (single yellow male, 60 lbs with 4 legs!). We walk everyday and he loves the park/water. I love being able to walk to find food, shopping, activities, coffee, etc...Therein lies my question. I have done a great deal of research on the city and there seems to be a ton of different areas to live, but without knowing what surrounds these areas...I am at a loss. I will mainly be working from home, therefore traffic is not such an issue. I would like to be in a safe area with other young people who share these same interests. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

My parents are traveling north to Nebraska, but were told to wait a week or so because the northern part of Texas is getting freezing rain and ice. Is it safe for them to travel up I-35 Friday night and be here, Nebraska, by Saturday morning?
