Dallas Federal Reserve Dallas, TX
Posted: Fri August 21, 2009 06:21 AM UTC
I will be in Dallas in December for a couple of weeks and remember seeing a brochure on a previous trip regarding a tour where money was manufactured. For
some reason I thought it was in Fort Worth but have been unable to find it on Google. Checking Dallas it shows there is a Federal Reserve Bank and would like to know if this is where money is made ? Any help you can give me will be appreciated as I would like to go to the tour this trip. Thank you, Allison Clark

Dallas Are you Looking for a travel buddy?
Posted: Sat July 25, 2009 07:40 PM UTC
Searching for a friend who is a “transplant “ (a person who is not born in the Dallas Fort Worth area) who wants to learn the city. I travel frequently, and my goal is to learn more about what is happening here in the DFW/Austin area. I am looking for someone to travel with; who wants to visit restaurants, historic landmarks, beaches, attractions, museums, events, and the nightlife. Someone who would like to fill a few gaps within their schedule, with visiting new places in the area.
Must be over 30, friendly, adventurous, travel exp. not necessary, and who has a flexible schedule.
All emails will be answered.

Dallas Visiting Dallas area in September
Posted: Sat July 4, 2009 08:20 PM UTC
Hi

I'll be in the Fort Worth/Lewisville in early Sept for a few days for work, but have a couple of free days. I arrive on a Saturday afternoon and have Sunday free, and I think I have another free day on Friday.

I've been watching Pro Bull Riding on TV for a while and would like to go to a rodeo. I checked the Mesquite Rodeo website but the schedule only goes to the end of August. Will there still be something going on when I am in town? And is this the best place to go? How would I get there from Lewisville if I am not driving?

What else would you recommend? Some smart alec at the office suggested Southfork ranch...

Dallas Dallas on the 4th
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 09:28 PM UTC
I need a little help..I'm bringing my guy to Dallas for the weekend.. I have been there several times but its been a few years.. I know we stayed at Hyatt Downtown by where Reunion was. I think we took a tram to Westend but in my mind it was really within walking distance.. Should we ride or walk..also..I remember going underground in a tunnel to get over by the "JFK" area. Seems it had a walkway. I may be dreaming..lol.. Anyway.. I just wanted to be a little prepared before we go. Is Hyatt a close place to stay if going to Westend one night? I saw there is a Westend hotel but would rather stay at Hyatt if it's close enough.. We are going out to a ballgame Sat night but would rather stay in close and spend more time in that area... any suggestions or comments welcome!!!

Dallas Walking around Bachman Lake
Posted: Fri January 30, 2009 12:23 PM UTC
Exactly how many miles is it around Bachman Lake. We have been walking it lately. And with so many markers on the ground we can't get a accurate milage. I walk a 15 min. mile, and i walk the whole lake in 50 mins. So its slightly less than 4 miles, but by how much. Thanks

Dallas Overnight Hotel near DFW
Posted: Wed January 28, 2009 07:02 PM UTC
HI - when we depart for Europe early April (we live in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico area) our American Airlines itinerary arrives 8p one evening and we don't depart until 5p the next evening to CDG; so we need to make a hotel reservation for the night.
Obviously we want one with a shuttle service and a restaurant, but since we have most of the day, I was also wondering if there is a budget hotel that is also nearby a shopping mall? (as I don't get a chance to do this in BajaSur!)

Dallas The 33 KDAF-TV
Posted: Sun November 23, 2008 03:26 AM UTC
I am looking to find a hotel that has this channel available in the guest rooms. The 33, or CW 33, KDAF.

We will be in Dallas for the night of December 20th and want to be able to watch the Cowboys /Raven game in our room. That is the channel that is suppose to be broadcasting it that night, along with the NFL Network.

Any suggestions? I would perfer that the hotel also has an indoor pool.
Thanks.

Dallas Dallas Area VTers!
Posted: Mon September 29, 2008 10:01 PM UTC
It was a pleasure meeting many of you at the 1st Annual Big Texas VT Meet!

I just wanted to send out a note and say it was a pleasure meeting each of you this weekend. Anyway, I thought it might be nice if the DFW area VTers got together in a smaller gathering sometime, since we didn't get much time to catch up ourselves while entertaining the out of towners...

I looked at the DFW area pages, and thought there were some pretty big names without many tips, so we might meet once or twice a year in one of these locations to bolster the information on a few places...

Some suggestions:
Addison
Arlington
Frisco
Granbury
Grapevine
Irving
Plano

Richardson and Allen have virtually no tips, but some of the others might be geographically more feasible for some...

Anyway, I am sure most are pretty busy as we enter the holiday season, but if you all are interested, please weigh in here...

Dallas Hungry Newbie
Posted: Wed August 20, 2008 02:03 AM UTC
Hello
I recently moved to Dallas from Louisiana. There seem to be many, many steak places, but not so much for seafood. I like all you can eat type places - catfish, shrimp, oysters - fried, of course. Are there any seafood buffet places in Dallas? (North and West mainly, but I will drive far for good food.)
Thanks

Dallas Public Transportation from Bedford, TX to Dallas.

Hi,

I'm a new grad student in the DFW area. I'll be living in Bedford, TX but my school is near downtown, about 25 min drive away. I was wondering if anyone could help me find a way of making it from here (Bedford) to my school: Dallas Seminary, 3909 Swiss Ave, Dallas, TX by public transportation.

Thank you,

Dallas DFW and customs

Is a 2 hour layover sufficient time to get through customs (arriving from Mexico) and still make my connection home? Right now I'm looking at flights that arrive at about 4p in DFW on a Sat. Any advice from anyone familiar with that customs entry would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dallas Transportation in Dallas - Car or Public Transportation
Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 08:20 PM UTC
I will be in Dallas for 16 days staying in Days Inn Dallas/Ft. Worth area...approx 10 minute drive from DFW and approx drive 10 minute drive from nearest mall. There is no bussing or public transportation from the hotel. The hotel provides me with transportation to and from the airport (when I arrive and depart). I am kind of on a budget, other than Aug 22 and Aug 23, I have no set itinerary so I can come and go when and where I want.
With the price of a car rental (including gas, insurance, etc), would it be cheaper to take a taxi cab to the mall or airport and use the dart system (or whatever) or use the buses to get around. I am not concerned about the time factor as I can leave earlier to get to my destination. One place I do want to go to for sure is the Southfork Ranch, so not sure how I would get there.

I arrive in Dallas Aug 19 evening and leave morning of Sept 3. I am excited about my trip, but I will admit that I forgot to check into transportation...I know I would probably have been better to have had a hotel close to public transportation but I booked this trip in January this year, so I will not be making any changes at this point.

I would appreciate any help possible.

Thank you in advance.

Dallas Dallas Zoo or the Fort Worth Zoo
Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 04:22 PM UTC
I am going to be in Dallas in August (and I am on a budget), and I was wondering which is the best zoo to see the Dallas or the Ft. Worth. I read your comment, and was wondering if the Ft. Worth Zoo has all the same as Dallas Zoo plus more?

I am trying to plan an itinerary as I will be there for 16 days and only 2 of those days will be at the "Women of Faith" conference.

I want to make it a great holiday on a budget but see and do exciting things.

Thanks for your help.

Hi!
I'm planning to travel to Dallas on august to take a 5 week course.
I'll be in Fort Worth, and, tho im traveling to study, im looking for good places to shop and to party, considering that i LOVE electronic music (not rap, hiphop or R&B), is there any place where i can hear electronic all night? do ALL the bars in Dallas close at 2:00am?
Another issue is THE WEATHER!, i live in the Caribbean BUT i've been warned about the weather back in TX. Is its reaaallyyy that hot????
I'm not the museum type of person, so are there any other things to do other than museums?
Thanks for your help! :)

Dallas Local Vacation in November
Posted: Wed May 21, 2008 09:59 AM UTC
So the man person and his brother are taking a vacation in November. I want to take a local vacation and explore the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Local being that I live in Arlington and don't need a hotel. I haven't really seen much of what the DFW metroplex has to offer in the 8 years I've lived here. I'm looking for mostly daytime things as I don't really like driving in unfamiliar places alone late at night. Ideally I'd like things I can "do" and not just things I can see. Six Flags is closed that time of year. Stockyards is a possibility. Might like Botanical Gardens. Considering the Mystery Dinner Theater. Since I live in the area looking for shopping isn't high on my list but I'm open to suggestions. And I'm not much into concerts, opera's or other type shows. I'm also not looking for something that might be overloaded with children like zoo's. Nothing against children but a day at the zoo surrounded by other people's children isn't my idea of fun no matter how great the zoo might be. I've been by the grassy knoll but don't have much interest in seeing more of the JFK tragedy. I'm also not overly religious nor am I big into sports.

I've always been afraid of horses. So I might like to take the opportunity to try and overcome that if there is something available in the area.
I ride a Harley. So a scenic route of the area could be interesting.
I love to cook. I think Central Market has one day cooking classes and that's another type of possibility.
Since it's a vacation I'd also be interested in trying new cuisine and exploring restaurants I maybe haven't heard of or considered before.
I usually love going to festivals. I don't know of any that late in the year though. I've been to Grapefest in Grapevine and the Arts Festival this past summer in Fort Worth I think.
Most of all I want to try to keep things affordable. So no $100 dinners or expensive sports tickets.

Dallas been a while..
Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 02:45 PM UTC
ok... I live in Little Rock and have made several trips to Dallas..it's been some time though and I was younger and not as interested in history as I am now. I'm coming with a friend who has never been to Dallas. I remember staying at the Hyatt by "Reunion Arena" years ago. I know we took a train on a short ride to Westend..seems to me there was a tunnel too that had a lot of JFK info in it or maybe I am dreaming..My friend really wants to go to the grassy noll...
I do know that once I get to Westend I can find the museum area where you can go up and tour. Will they tell you there how to get to the noll area so we can walk around? Is the train the easiest to Westend or can we walk? What's the best route to go see the JFK info from there? I really want to make his trip memorable but I'm directionally challenged and get turned around easily!!
Thanks in advance my TX friends!!!

Dallas rent-a-car from the airport terminal
Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 10:59 AM UTC
I will be arriving at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport and I was wondering how I can get to the rent-a-car office from there? If I book a car online, will they pick-us up from the terminal? Or is there a shuttle bus that goes directly there? I was just wondering how it would be difficult to bring around our luggages to many places. Any help? Maybe you could also suggest good rent-a-car services.

Dallas TRE/DART from airport to Dallas

Dallas Easter weekend in Dallas
Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 10:46 AM UTC
Hello all!
I'll be in Dallas over the Easter weekend, staying downtown by the Galleria. I've been to Dallas before and have been to a couple of museums downtown, and had been to a nice pedestrian area with a lot of restaurants and bars (don't remember the name). I'm looking for a wide variety of things to do-a nice dinner at a non-chain restaurant, a non-country music bar, possibly some outlet shopping, a museum or something I may not have thought of. I will likely be on my own, as I can't be sure my colleagues will care to join me, so safety is also key(especially in the evening) and since it's a holiday weekend, I'm sure it might be a bit quiet too. Thanks for any tips!
