Memphis memphis and graceland
Posted: Fri August 22, 2008 07:42 AM UTC
we shall be coming to Memphis in the middle of October this year. I am splashing out and we staying at the Peabody Hotel, it's our 30th wedding anniversary treat. What would be the best way to get to Graceland and buy tickets for the tour of the house. Also are there some good bars near the Peabody Hotel we quite like a drink at night. Any info on these questions would be most wecome. Thank you.

Hello all....

I'm thinking of a wee trip to Tenessee next year, clearly I've gotta go the whole way and travel in style, so was wondering if any of you good folks knew of anywhere I could rent a classic 50's or 60's American auto in the state?

Memphis New Year's Eve in Memphis
Posted: Sun December 9, 2007 05:04 PM UTC
Hi. On a whim, my husband and I decided this morning that we would go to Memphis for New Year's Eve. We don't care to do anything too ambitious. We'll fly from Washington, DC, to Memphis on Dec 30 and spend two nights there. I have a few questions:

1. What are some good dining places? Anything good from a real dive to a fancy place will do so long as it's memorable (in a good way).

2. Where could/should we go on New Year's Eve? Live music, dancing, whatever . . .

3. What's the usual dress code in Memphis? Coat and tie? Jeans? In between?

4. Anything else we should know?

Thanks!

Memphis worried about safety in memphis
Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 08:46 PM UTC
Hello,
Im bringing my wife and daughter to Memphis for our vacation. Were from England and I have seen numerous warnings about venturing out after dark in Memphis. Were stopping at the heartbreak hotel which apparently is in a bad part of town. Is there anything to worry about or is it all hype. We will obviously want to go to Beale Street, and some of the other major attractions. Can anyone give me the do's and dont's. We wont be using a car,so which is the safest way to get about. If it helps we've been to Vegas a few times, and been Downtown there without any problems, is Memphis any worse or better?. Obviously we dont intend to wander off anywhere but what about returning to the hotel at night, are there likely to be problems outside at night?.
Well thanks in advance for any tips

Memphis Day Spas or Hot Springs, Arkansas?
Posted: Wed August 1, 2007 08:06 PM UTC
Hello to all!

While organizing my impending trip to Memphis, my mother told me she had heard that Hot Springs, Arkansas is a nice place for a day trip to relax and recuperate from touring All things Elvis. It's kind of far, so I was wondering if anyone recommends it, or if anyone knows of something similar a bit closer to Memphis?

We leave on Saturday. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Memphis Artisan Hotel , "midtown arts district"
Posted: Mon June 11, 2007 06:51 AM UTC
Hello to all,

Does anyone know anything about this hotel? The webpage says it's in the "midtown arts district." Is that a safe area to stay in? I´m less worried about the hotel than the location, that it's safe, with restaurants and things to do nearby of an evening.

Thanks in advance for any tips.ç

Happy travelling!

Memphis Christmas in Memphis 2007
Posted: Sun April 29, 2007 01:20 PM UTC
Hi

Myself, husband and teenage son will be arriving in Memphis on Christmas Eve, from the UK. We are spending two nights in Memphis, then doing a tour of the South. We realise most places will be closed on Christmas Day, but does anyone know of anywhere interesting to visit that would be open? We are thinking of spending the two nights at the Heartbreak Hotel and doing the tour of Gracelands on Boxing Day, 26th December, which I understand is open then.

Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hi

We're hoping to stay in Memphis [and Nashville] this summer - with as much live music as we can fit in.

Will my daughter, who isn't quite 21, be able to join us in Beale Street, Concerts and music bars / clubs?

Thanks

Memphis Graceland - Safety
Posted: Wed April 18, 2007 12:14 AM UTC
Hi,
I want to take my mother-in-law to Memphis to visit Graceland, we are from Baltimore, MD. The problem is I have been reading some really scary things about Memphis and the area around Graceland. Could you tell me where I could stay in Memphis that would be safe? And is it safe to go to Graceland only during the day? Is the surrounding neighborhoods that bad?

I know that Baltimore City has some bad areas, but because I live here I know where you go and don't go. But I know nothing about Memphis and am a little leary about taking my 65 year old handicapped wheel chaired mother-in-law into a bad area. Please advise.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Memphis Romanian Language Lessons needed
Posted: Fri December 29, 2006 04:21 AM UTC
There is a good possibility that in April my family and I will be moving to Brasov, Romania for an extended period of time. I have not been able to find any classes for us and wanted to try it that way before I went to books and tapes to learn from. I was hoping that someone here would know of a place that has classes or of someone who would consider it. Thanks

Memphis Nashville to Memphis - what are my options?
Posted: Tue October 24, 2006 04:02 AM UTC
Hi

I'll be travelling to Nashville from Australia in 2 weeks and would like to do a day trip to Memphis.

I've read other posts here and it seems the most popular option is to hire a car. Unfortunately this will be out of the Q for me.

Can you please recommend bus companies, rail companies or tour companies that run this leg?

Thanks,
Frezzal

Memphis Visit to Graceland and all that is ELVIS
Posted: Tue September 12, 2006 02:31 AM UTC
My cousin and I are planning on surprising our aunt with a trip to Memphis to visit Graceland and just have an all around fun time. Our aunt is an avid Elvis fan and has never visited. I am interested in recommendations on time of year that is best, sites we need to see and even hotel ideas. We want this trip to be a great time for her...so please send ideas. Most importantly, we want to know which month (weather wise) is the best for visiting.
Thanks much!! Cara

Memphis Moving to Memphis
Posted: Mon September 4, 2006 08:41 PM UTC
My wife and I plan on moving to Memphis later this year, and we're wondering what are some recommended apartments? We do not want to live in the ghetto, and we are looking in the $600-$700 a month price range. We would also consider living in an affordable house. So what are some areas we should look at?
