Whiterocks (Deadwood S.D.)

One of the sites to see in a visit to Deadwood is the forested mountain just
outside of Deadwood. On this mountain are the graves of famous historical
figures and on top a unique rock formation called Whiterocks. There was
a road to the top in the mid 1990s. Is that road still there?

Visiting South Dakota for the first time.

We will be visiting Deadwood and surrounding area for about four days in September. Can anyone suggest hotels in this area and things to do? In Deadwood, we would like to stay at a casino. Thanks

staying in a casino- hotel without gambing

Searching the Internet, I noticed that Deadwood is a casino town. Booking a room in a hotel in Las Vegas is quite anonymous, so no problem when not gambling, but what about booking a room in a small historic Deadwood hotel? Are you supposed to gamble when staying in a casino -hotel such as the Bullock hotel or the Franklin hotel?

Is this too much time in Deadwood?

I'm planning on travelling to SD this summer w/my 15 y.o. son. I had figured on staying at Deadwood Dick's for about 2 or 3 nights. At least one day would be devoted to driving over Devil's Tower and I thought we'd try riding on Mickelson's Trail, visit Adams Museum and President's Park as well as walking around the town.

After that thought we'd hit Keystone for a couple nights to hit the sites closer to that area and then spend a night or two in Custer State Park. The Lodge in that park looks awesome.

Is this a good plan or am I all over the place? I also wanted to take my son to Badlands for some hiking and a stop at Wall just to say we did.
