Hello everyone!

I am planning a trip to Greenville to visit some friends (who recently relocated there), and I am turning to Virtual Tourist for some advice...

What is the best time to visit Greenville? I was thinking possibly visiting around Christmas-time. What is the weather like this time of the year? Are there any special activities or events around Christmas-time?

Is there anything in particular that Greenville is known for, whether it be a food or authors or artists, ect.?

Any great bakeries, pastry shops or sandwich shops you can recommend?

Hi-

I am certain that you have heard this question many times prior. I am married in my mid 40's with an 8 year old son. We would like some information on Greenville SC. We are thinking of relocating but it's such a big step. I have heard nothing but positive experiences with Greenville so I am putting these questions out to all of you. "What do you like best about Greenville"? "Is it a family town?" "Any flooding", What's the weather like? Humid?, Recommended Communities/towns, Builders, Schools, activities for children 8 and above. What sports do the children play?

Where is the nearest Beach from Greenville SC??

I am from Maine just outside of Portland and would like to relocate to a place that is warmer but still provides access to outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and kayaking while being affordable. I have done some research on the Greenville, SC area and know that it has many of the qualities that I seek. It's proximity to the mountains and rivers/lakes is a big plus. My biggest concern is being welcome. I would be relocating alone, pretty much starting over. I have read some posts on the web that in parts of the South as a YANKEE I would be tolerated but never really welcome. Would I be better off considering Charlotte, Charleston, or Raleigh since they have populations that are more geographically diverse or is the Greenville area a good choice? Thanks for the advice!
