Romania travelling from Sfântu Gheorghe - Brasov- Cluj back -home
Posted: Sat July 4, 2009 10:48 AM UTC
We will be in Erdély for about 3 weeks. (July/August)
First one week at Kommando-music camp near Szepsiszentgyorgi (Sfântu Gheorghe)
and back to Brasov (Brasso)and Cluj (Koloszvar)
via all small music-villages, sleeping probably in tent.

Possibly we would like to spend one night a week in a hotel/hostel/appartment. never mind what, but with good facilities as bathroom/toilet.

Anyone any suggestions for accommodation not too expensive in these cities?

I have been to several music-camps in Transsylvania over the past few years, and stayed with peoples in their homes, or in tents. but now travelling by car, so a new adventure.. :-)

any suggestions are welcome!

Bucharest Bucharest pubs & bars
Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 12:37 AM UTC
I will be in Bucharest in about 10 days and am staying overnight in the Carpati Hotel, where I have stayed many times before en route to Targu Jiu. This time is different however, because my 29 yr old daughter will be with me, and I want her to enjoy her first visit to Romania on what will be my 21st visit. I know Bucharest centre reasonably well, but I'm not not so au fait with the location of the best bars. I plan to take her to the Vatra restaurant opposite the Carpati, but then I would like to move on to a few good bars or pubs that are not too far away, but to be honest I don't really know of any in that part of town. Anybody got any suggestions?

Romania Taxi and safety in Roamnia
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 01:33 PM UTC
Hi, I will travel to Roamania in July. I probably will take taxi from Train Station to Old town in Sighisoara, from Train Station to the apartment I rented in Brasov, and from train station to the apartment I rented in Bucharest. Do the drivers overcharge tourists seriously in Romania? If yes, how to avoid that?

Besides, are the apartment safe to rent in Romania?

Are the cities safe for tourists?

Thanks for your reply.

Bucharest Rahova Bus Station
Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 09:02 AM UTC
Hello,

I will arrive at Bucharest with the Bus, unfortunelly at Autogara Rahova, most probably late in the night (between 23:00-02:00) and with a bike. I doubt that I will find any public transport at that time which is also going to take my bike. I could ride through the city with the bike to come to a hotel, which I'm not sure is a good decision, or I could wait at the station in Rahova until morning.

Does anyone have a good idea of what I should do? Does anyone know the Rahova Bus Station, is it possible to wait there in a building on a bank until the morning? How safe is it to ride with the bike in the night trough the city?

Thanks a lot...

Was wondering if I could buy a train ticket from Bucharest to Budapest with the option to stopover in several places along the way, and how much would that cost. I would like to make overnight stops in several places like Sinaia, Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, etc, and complete the trip in about 7 days.

Romania Best way to spend a few days mid-Romania?
Posted: Fri June 12, 2009 04:14 PM UTC
Hello all,

Some friends and I will be travelling to Romania in mid-July, and we have 5/6 days to spend between Sibiu, Sighisora, and Brasov. Our idea was to spend 2 nights in Sibiu, 1 in Sighisora, and 2 in Brasov, with one day at the end to travel to another destination.

Can anyone give some advice? Is there too many days in one place, not enough in another? Or perhaps is there another place that should be added to the list?

We are flexible, but we are travelling towards the Black Sea, so anywhere in that general direction.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Romania Hiking: Bucegi? Sf.Anna? Bicaz?
Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 07:37 PM UTC
I have been hiking in Padis and Ciucas so far.I would like to choose one from above. I will be also with my teenage children who don't like hiking much (but who cares hahaha).
I think that Bucegi can be the most suitable because of lifts (fun for children not for me), and mountain hostels/huts availability. Is there still a huge queue to get into lifts?
I'm also temptate also by Lacu Rosu area- it must be also easy hiknig trails there.
Sfanta Anna sounds also interesting.
Which one to choose?

Bucharest Booking Tickets for Opera Nationale Bucuresti
Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 01:40 PM UTC
Hi,
will be in Bucharest mid-June and would like to visit the National Opera for a ballet or opera event.
Until today I've been unable to find out how to book a ticket online via http://www.biletelaspectacol.ro/

Also the webpage doesn't give a clue about the June program (opera nor ballet) on the official webpage http://my.operanb.ro/component/option,com_jcalpro/Itemid,36/lang,en/

Is the opera closed? How can I learn about the programm or book a ticket ?
Thanks for your help!

Romania Brasov, Sighisoara to see traditional or rural Romania village ?
Posted: Thu June 4, 2009 04:23 AM UTC
Hi,

I will visit Sighisoara, Brasov including one day trip to Sinaia.I really want to see some traditional villages where I can have a test of rural Romania, not Museum. I know there are some villages around Sibiu, for example Marginimea Sibiului, but I may not have time to go up there.

Do you know this kind of village near Sighisoara or Brasov and I can visit within one day?

Thanks!

Romania Budapest –Brasov-Sinaia-Bucharest -Sofia by train
Posted: Tue June 2, 2009 07:50 AM UTC
Hello,

I will come from Budapest and would like to visit Brasov (including a day trip to Sighisoara),Sinaia, then to Bucharest and take 12:16 train for Sofia. All of these will be done by train. My questions are:

1)What kind of train ticket will save me money? I only take day train, no night train. I noticed that there is a SET International ticket but not quite understand. BTW, I am over 26 years old.

2)As to Sinaia, is it better to stay in Sinaia then next morning take a direct train for Bucharest or stay in Brasov and visit Sinaia as a day trip? Which way is convenient? I checked http://infofer.ro and noticed that Brasov-Bucharest will take 3 hours and Sinaia- Bucharest takes only 2 hours.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
