Tours availability of wheelchair for handicap person
Posted: Sun September 6, 2009 08:44 PM UTC
We are planning to visit chateau of Amboise, Chenonceaux, Chombard and Blois.
My wife had a recent surgery. She is doing OK. But in case she gets tired while walking big areas of different chateau grounds will there be a wheelchair available for rent at these places.

I would also like to know whether we can drink water from the tap or only bottled water should be used??

Tours baggage storage in Tours
Posted: Mon August 17, 2009 08:23 PM UTC
Hello,

I will be arriving at the Tours station in the morning from Paris to join a 1-day (9.30 AM to 6.30 PM) excursion. I plan to go the following evening to Bordeaux. Are there any baggage storage facilities at Tours (at either of the two stations or at some hotel near the stations) that I could use? Any pointers will be appreciated.

thanks!

Tours train stations
Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 09:28 PM UTC
I will be arriving at St.Pierre Des Corp.(Tours) from paris on TGV at 10:35 am. I have a train connection to Tours at 10:40 AM
Is that possible to make. Most probably not. In that case do trains run often between these two stations?

Is SNCF station located in the town? How far apart are these stations.

Next day I want to take train to Amboise and Chennonceau. Will that be from the SNCF station or from St. Pierre Des Corp.

Tours Tours to Paris late at night
Posted: Fri April 10, 2009 10:34 PM UTC
Hi all

We are a group of friends travelling to Tours for a concert. We need to find a way to return to Paris where we will be staying after the concert which will probably last until past 11pm. I've checked the train schedule on http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ and it appears that the latest train goes around 10.30 which is too early.

Does anyone have any tips on alternate travel methods that might take us back to Paris around 11.30pm or even after midnight? Buss maybe, or something else. We don't really care as long as we dont have to spend the night there.

Thanks a lot.

Tours Quickest travel from Tours to Antibes
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 01:45 AM UTC
We are going from Tours to Antibes in August. All the train schedules redirect you back to Paris then south to Antibes taking an average 8 hours. Can anyone suggest a different quicker route, not driving.

Tours Traveling by car
Posted: Thu August 31, 2006 11:29 PM UTC
Hi there,

My boyfriend and I planning to go to France next May, and of course, we want to go to the countryside and see the Chateaux and Vineyards. We plan to use the TGV a lot, but is a car the best way to get around to each chateau we want to see? Are any of them walking distance?

Thanks, and I appreciate the feedback.

Tours Help with residence hotels
Posted: Mon December 19, 2005 06:14 PM UTC
I will be visiting Tours next fall to take a course at CLE. The school has recommended one residence hotel (Villa Medicis on rue Walvein) and a past student has recommended another (Appotel on rue Voltaire). The school is located at place de Chateauneuf. Does anyone know these two hotels and have a recommendation which would be best (nice, good location, safe for walking alone)? Thank you!

Tours Parking close to the "Vieux Tours" Youth Hostel.
Posted: Sat September 17, 2005 03:05 AM UTC
I will be sleeping there quite soon, and as I will get to Tours quite late in the evening (21:00 or so) and the hostel check-in closes at 22:00; I would really thank if anyone could tell me how easy (or difficult) would be to park a car close to the hostel (rue Bretonneau).

If likely to get easily somewhere to park the car on the street, how safe the zone is and so on.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Inaki.

Tours Tours... what about seeing the ocean?
Posted: Thu May 5, 2005 03:56 PM UTC
Hi, everyone, we're very happy to join this place.
For now, there is a very urgent question that we would be happy to get answered. When travelling by bus in Tours (going there next week to choir competition), is it possible to reach the ocean within a few hours? Does anybody has an idea, which route to take and where exactly to go?
Of course, we looked up in the map but an insider tip would be great.
Tnx in advance

btw - consider visiting Latvia in summer :)

Tours Please help us with our (long) LOIRE VALLEY DAYTRIP from Paris!
Posted: Wed May 4, 2005 11:53 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,

In June, we will be taking a long daytrip, driving from Paris to the Loire Valley, and back. We know this will be a long day, but we think we can do it!

Here is what we have so far:

1) Leave Paris early in the morning (7am?); drive directly to CHENONCEAU castle.

2) Explore Chenonceau castle and surrounding estate; have a picnic lunch on the grounds.

3) This is the part we would like input -- after Chenonceau, do we have time to either explore a trologdyte cave (Samur?), or is that too far? We don't feel the need to see another castle, so should we explore another town instead (like Amboise)? Another possibility is exporing a wine cave, such as a champagne cave in VOUVRAY.

4) We want to have dinner at L'Embarcadere -- near Blois. It is a fish restaurant where you can sit right by the river.

PLEASE HELP US WITH THE TIME BETWEEN CHENONCEAU AND DINNER IN BLOIS!

Merci beaucoup/Thanks!

Tours Tours or Poitiers better to see the Loire Valley castles?
Posted: Mon November 22, 2004 01:20 AM UTC
Which one does everyone feel would be a better "home base" for touring the Loire Valley? We will be taking a train down from Paris and picking up a rental car to use for the 3 days that we have in the Loire Valley.

We found a nice hotel castle in Poitier: Chateau de la Guillonniere...that is what originally started us looking in Poitier.

Any and all information is welcomed!

Tours Favorite chateau
Posted: Wed September 8, 2004 03:30 PM UTC
We will be spending 3 days near Tours in Amboise in early October. Of course, we plan to see some of the lovely Loire Valley chateaux but do not have a set agenda. We will be driving so have some flexibility. What is your favorite chateau in the area? Why do you think it is the loveliest or most important or historic or whatever? Thanks for your suggestions.

Tours Montrichard and Chambord
Posted: Thu April 29, 2004 12:00 AM UTC
Q: I am planning a trip to the Loire Valley in June with a 14 year niece.

Has anyone been to Montrichard? I understand there is a exhibition with eagles each evening? Has anyone seen it? What time does it take place.

Chambord: I understand there is an equestrian show every day at Chambord. Has anyone seen it?

Is the Pagode de chanteloupe, outside of Amboise, worth stopping at?
