Portland Needing as much help as possible
Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 03:27 PM UTC
Hey everyone! My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to Portland OR in July (brew festival) We are both looking to relocate to Portland OR in the next year/year and 1/2. We are going to be in town for 10 days and we wanted some ideas of what we should check out before coming back to "dirty" Jersey! LOL
I know I want to see Cannon Beach, take a few scenic Byways and climb the tallest of the 3 sisters mountains, but we want to make sure that we see allot to make that final decision on the move. PLEASE help us figure it all out.
We are outdoors people that love, hiking, biking, micro brews, coffee shops, bohemian styles etc......

also if you can help - I have been looking into Hawthorne, and North Mississippi for a location to live on day SOON..... Any ideas on that area? I have a 5 year old who will need to be in a good school - but not looking for uptight areas????

sorry for sooo many questions - just excited to find the Perfect place to start my life over in PORTLAND

We are going to Portland "on a whim" for the weekend. We have reservations for the Epicurian walking tour Saturday, and reservations for brunch at London Grill on Sunday. We also plan on riding the Arial Tram on Saturday - Anyone have any suggestions what else we should see - or where else we should eat? Thanks in advance for your help!

Portland Portland in May
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 02:09 PM UTC
I found a great airfare in May so we are gonna spend the 13th thru the 20th in Portland.Couple of questions:

Weather: What should I expect?

Music: Can someone find me a good concert calender?Anybody good playing that week?I like Jam bands ( Phish,Disco Biscuits,Keller Williams,Allman Bros ,ect....Nothing heavier than Government Mule). What are some good (and relativly safe) Venues to look into?

Hotels: Cheap Clean Good location .A friend we're traveling with want to stay at the Jupiter Hotel. She's been there before-says it's OK.Any other suggestions in that section of town?

Food: I'll be visiting someone who's been there 10 years now but I don't want to depend on just his advice.Any suggestions-I like Pan-Asian But really my goal is just to not eat the same stuff I get at home. What's uniquely "Portland " food wise?

Special Events: Anything going on I shouldn't miss?

Thanks a bundle-C

Portland Portland Here I Come!
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 05:48 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be driving up to Portland from Los Angeles in the first part of April. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on the best/most scenic route to take and once I'm there, what are some things to do in Portland. I have never been, so my knowledge of the city is very small.

Portland Debating moving to Portland?? Need some help.
Posted: Fri February 1, 2008 03:37 AM UTC
Hey everyone, one of my really good friends is moving to Portland and is begging me to go with her. However, she has never been and just plans on winging it. I'm not like that.. I need to check the place out before I decide to live there.. We are both in our early 20's and I'm looking to go to school in Portland.

Basically I would love local advice on a place to stay (hotel), the most important things to see/do in order to experience Portland.. the realistic stuff (not the whole fancy vacation things) in just a few days to really help me make a decision!

Thank you for your help!!

Portland Need your help in Oregon
Posted: Wed January 23, 2008 03:53 PM UTC
We are long retired, fairly well-travelled, and are finally ready to take our long-delayed tour of the parts of the U.S. we've never visited. Part of our 8000 mile, 5-6 week trip will take us from SF to Portland OR. I'm familiar with VT tips as I have read & written many over the years, but I still need help in discovering interesting stops in and between these 2 cities. You can check my homepage for our preferences and/or check our posting in the United States forum for our preliminary itinerary. We will be traveling the southernmost states first

Portland San Fran to Florence, Oregon?
Posted: Mon July 9, 2007 11:29 PM UTC
What is the best route to take? All the way up 101, or partway up I5 and then switching over to 101? i am aware it is about an eight to nine hour drive. We will be driving this all on a Wednesday, I don't know if the day of the week makes a difference with traffic or not. Thanks!

Portland walking/driving in portland
Posted: Fri April 13, 2007 12:09 AM UTC
Hi. I'll be in Portland for 5 days next month. I'd like to know how easy it is to get around on foot if I stay in a downtown hotel (shopping, restaurants, etc.).

otoh, if I choose to book a hotel away from the city center(and rent a car), would driving/parking be a hassle (in the downtown area).

I've stayed in downtown Seattle before, and found the city pretty walkable (if hilly). I would describe that downtown area as not big, but a tad bit spread out. Is Portland similar?

Thanks in advance.

Portland Cherries, Apples and Pears
Posted: Tue December 5, 2006 04:59 PM UTC
Hey! I heard that there are many fruit orchards in and around Portland...

Guess what, I simply love cherries, apples and pears and I screamed when I heard that there are actually fruit harvest festvivals.

My question is: what is your alltime favorite fruit orchard in and around Portland? I heard that I really should check out the orchards at Mount Hood...

Help a fruitlover out! Thanks :)

Portland visiting Portland
Posted: Wed November 15, 2006 09:14 PM UTC
Hiya all:
My boyfriend and I are excited about visiting Portland when we both get vacation time in a few months. I've been looking up airfare prices from Orlando - Portland, and some exceed $600/roundtrip/each! The least expensive I've found is Southwest in early March for around $250/roundtrip/each. Suggestions on low-budget airlines to Portland would be appreciated. Also, what can one expect as a reasonable round trip airfare price from the east coast - Portland/roundtri/per person? Many thanks!
