| Manhattan Island | cheap clean hotel - wich neighbourhood ? Posted: Thu October 25, 2007 07:54 AM UTC
Hi
I am going to NY with my father next year (end of April) for about 10 days. I have never been there before and I have no idea which area to choose for a nice, clean cheap B&B/Guest house/Hotel....I would like to stay in a central area where it is nice to go out for a walk, where shops/restaurant are in walking distance...I read the names of so many neighbourhoods in the Lonely Planet .....Greenwichvillage, east village, lower manhattan, lower east side, soho, upper east side, upper west side.... any suggestion? Thanks A LOT Kind regards Francesca |

| Manhattan Island | Summer Picnic Posted: Mon March 5, 2007 04:14 PM UTC
I am planning on a birthday trip to see a Broadway show. Before the show, we would like to have a picnic somewhere. Is there a park which has picnic tables? I know Bryant Park has small tables, but we are a party of 14.

| Manhattan Island | Can you help me find someone in Manhattan? Posted: Sun February 18, 2007 02:18 PM UTC
Some years ago, whilst on holidays in Turkey, I met and befriended a family staying at the same Hotel. I know very little about them except that I am sure they have two deli's in Manhattan. I am visiting New York soon and would like to say hello.
As far as I can remember, he was Turkish, his wife was Swedish, and there were 3 children, two boys and a girl. From memory, I seem to remember that he was one of the biggest importers of Olives in the USA? We met at the Samara Hotel in Bodrum. |

| Manhattan Island | PRODUCERS TICKETS Posted: Wed June 28, 2006 04:59 PM UTC
I had to cancel our family trip due to an emergency appendectomy. I am holding four (4)tickets for The Producers show at 8pm on 6/29, St. James Theatre. They won't refund my money. If anyone is interested in these tickets please email me here. I'm sorry if this post is improper. I'm just out a lot of money and trying to recoup some of it.

| Manhattan Island | EWR to Manhattan transport Posted: Mon June 26, 2006 03:51 PM UTC
Our party of 4 will be arriving about midnight and need transportation with our 6 pieces of luggage. I don't think a cab can accomodate us. Will there be other options at the airport and will they be easily accessible or should I reserve a mini van?

| Manhattan Island | One day in Manhattan/3 guys and a girl Posted: Tue April 25, 2006 04:47 AM UTC
Enroute to Grenada, our family of four including two boys 21 and 17 are staying at the W Hotel and considering the following itinerary: some Harbor Cruise to see the statue of Liberty and the skyline, some part of Central Park and then "The Producers" in the evening. Our substinance for the day will have to include a famous New York hot dog off a corner vendor and a slice of pizza. Any hot tips???????? Ground Zero, Times Square and the Empire State building were also considerations.

| Manhattan Island | Manhattan In Two Nights? Posted: Fri September 9, 2005 11:55 PM UTC
Hi NYC
My wife & I will arrive Manhattan, 1st time, Thur 17 Nov but just for 2 nights. We do not like organized tours. I want to make the most of our too short visit. We are looking for the typical toursit stuff. What do you figure are the must do's? We will walk/subway/ to most venues. BTW, I booked the Travel Inn on West 42nd street. Did I do wrong? Thanks |

| Manhattan Island | Breakfast and Dinner Venues in Manhattan's Theatre district Posted: Sun April 17, 2005 05:53 PM UTC
Help!! 20 of us are heading to New York, staying in Mahattan's theatre district, from the UK for a friends 40th birthday celebration. I am looking for a restaurant where we can get a buffet breakfast for 20 people on a Sat and Sun morning, maybe in a hotel restaurant or any other venue that we can book a large group into. I am also trying to book a dinner venue, for a Sunday night that again can cope with a group of 15 - 20. Dinner could be Italian or maybe a good steak house....any other suggestions would be great Both venues need to be mid price. Finally our group are all arriving in Manhattan at different times so I need a bar that we can all meet up at as we arrive on a Fri night. Nothing too noisy or crowded - but fun. Many thanks

| Manhattan Island | Car Rental Posted: Sat October 16, 2004 04:59 PM UTC
Hi,
I be in NYC next week and staying in E 70th area, think of getting a rental car for a day on Sunday to get out of town and may be do some sightseeing and shopping outside Manhattan. The rental rate is just too expansive, costing about US 80 - 110 for a 12 hrs rental. Anyone have any idea where can I get a lower and cheaper rental deal around the area. And I am interesed to get another car to go to Niagara Fall for the weekend, so can rented car be taken over to Canadian side of Niagara? Thanks for your response, Cheers. Regards |

| Manhattan Island | Grandparents visiting Manhatten with small children Posted: Mon June 7, 2004 11:02 PM UTC
Hello!
My husband and I are planning to take two of our grandchildren (2 & 6) to Manhatten in mid August. The 6 year old is obsessed with national landmarks and going to NYC is his dream come true. We live in rural Maine and not sure how to go about taking a trip to Manhatten. Is it better to stay in a motel in Manhatten or across the river in NJ? Are the tolls expensive going back and forth? I noticed motel prices were a lot cheaper in NJ. Should we bring our car or find another way to get around Manhatten? Subway and bus with small kids?? Any suggestions? The only things we really want to go see is the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Chrysler Tower and other famous buildings & Central Park Zoo. Thanks for your help. MainePatty |
