Buffalo From Buffalo Airport to Canada
Posted: Mon June 23, 2008 08:35 AM UTC
Hello friends.

I getting to the Buffalo Airport in July. Our plan is to visit the Niagara Falls and then Canada for a few days.

In detail, we would like to get to Canada, rent a car to leave in Montreal later, and visit the Niagara falls traveling with our car. We think that getting a car in the Buffalo Airport and leave it in Canada would be rather expensive. So, do you have any suggestion? I do not know which is, for instance, the best way to go to a place where I can rent a car in Canada from the Buffalo airport. Looking at the area map it seems that getting to St. Catherine or Hamilton could be quicker than getting to Toronto. Do you know if it is possible?

Thanks for any suggestion.

Buffalo Cheap accomodation in Buffalo
Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 04:13 PM UTC
I'm going to be getting in to buffalo airport just before midnight and can't decide whether to take the bus directly to Toronto or to spend the night as I would be getting to Toronto at an awful hour in the morning when no one would come pick me up!

anyways I was wondering if there was any truly budget accomodation that had single rooms. I checked out the hostel but I don't want to sleep in a dorm.. If anyone has any experience in a backpackers or guesthouse please let me know!
thanks

Buffalo Crossing the border
Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 04:42 PM UTC
I plan on crossing into Buffalo on New Years Day from Canada for the Winter Classic game. Does anyone have an idea how long it will take crossing the border? I'm worried that since it's a holiday it may take longer than it normally would.

Buffalo Restaurants Near Amtrak Buffalo Depew
Posted: Fri November 23, 2007 02:43 PM UTC
We have 3 hours to wait on a Saturday before boarding our Amtrak train and would like to have a leisurely lunch near the station. Google shows Kelly & Co. virtually across the street. Can anyone comment as to what type of restaurant it is? Can we "lug our luggage" from the restaurant to the Amtrak station? A bit further away is Skaros Family Restaurant on Walden Avenue and St. Angelos and Hearthstone manor on Dick Road. Comments or alternative suggestions please?

Buffalo Things to do in Buffalo (downtown) & Areas to Avoid?
Posted: Mon August 13, 2007 02:48 AM UTC
Hi,

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Buffalo, NY next weekend (August 24-25) for 2 nights and will be staying at the Hyatt downtown.

We will be driving to shop at the Walden Galleria, Niagara Outlets, Prime Outlets (Grove City), going to Darien Lake Theme Park, and then heading to Niagara Falls for the next 2 nights.

What are some nearby places (around the hotel) to visit during the day/night and good places to eat?

Also, is the areas (walking distance) around the hotel safe during the day or night?

Thanks!

Buffalo Evenings in Buffalo

I'm visiting Buffalo from Aug 24-28 and already have plans for most of my time there. I'm looking for ways to fill my time there in the evenings of Aug 25th (Sat) and Aug 27th (Mon). I'm NOT a fan of bars or clubs so I'm looking for alternative ideas.

Any tips and/or recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Buffalo Duff's or Anchor
Posted: Mon July 17, 2006 05:59 PM UTC
And the debate rages on...

My wife and I will be visiting Buffalo and Niagara Falls August 10th through the 12th and are looking for things to do. So far 1) Niagara Falls, 2) Ripleys Believe it or Not, and 3) Eat some wings.

Thought I would poll the audience...which has better wings, Anchor or Duffs?
Also, any suggestions for free or really cheap things to do while there? Thanks.

Buffalo How much is the move worth?
Posted: Thu July 6, 2006 05:36 PM UTC
Is it worth a pay cut to move to Buffalo?
I have a job opportunity to move to Buffalo. I currently reside near Baltimore, have a nice home, in a nice community, but Buffalo is where I'm from and have family there. The pay cut is about 10%. Will the lower cost of housing make up for it? or the higher property taxes off set that?

Buffalo Restaurant Near Airport?????
Posted: Tue June 20, 2006 12:40 AM UTC
I used to travel to Buffalo on business quite frequently a number of years ago, there was a restaurant on the same road the airport is on. The restaurant was I believe west of the airport. It had dozens of signs in the parking lot. They sold, wings, pizza, beef on a weck, loganberry drink, fried balonga sandwiches, etc, etc, etc. As I recall the name of the place was "JIMBOS"????

Was that the name? It is still in business? If so is there an internet site or listing for it? If not, when did it close? What is it now?

Thank you!

Buffalo Transportation to the airport.
Posted: Thu June 1, 2006 08:37 AM UTC
Hi everybody,

it seems that there is a bus service to/from the airport 24 hours a day (http://www.niagaraairbus.com/Airport_Transfers/airport.htm), but I cannot find information about the schedules. Is this Niagra Bus the best choice? Is there any other?

Please, let me know about any suggestions,

Thanks!

Buffalo A short stay in Buffalo
Posted: Wed May 31, 2006 09:51 AM UTC
Hi everybody,

I will be in Buffalo for a short time (from around 5pm until early next morning) and I'm thinking what can I do then. I guess it's too a short time to go and spend the night in Niagara Falls because I have to catch a flight in Buffalo at 6am. I guess it will be easier to go to the airport from Buffalo than from Niagara... right?

Any ideas about what can I do in Buffalo? Maybe walking around the seashore area? Is this well-communicated? (I won't have a car). Also, please let me know about any hotel recommendations that you may have.

Thanks in advance,

Sergio

Buffalo How to get to Buffalo from DC
Posted: Mon April 17, 2006 04:03 AM UTC
Hi all,

I plan to drive from DC to Buffalo next month. According to the Atlas map that I have, the shortest route is via US 219. I have no idea about this route and searching on the net about US 219 brings not much of a result.

Wondering if anyone ever takes this route to go from DC to Buffalo. How's the traffic? How's the scenaries? How long does it takes? Are there any alternates?

Much obliged

Buffalo Day-Pass for Metro/Bus
Posted: Thu April 6, 2006 09:06 PM UTC
Dear VT-ers,
I read on nfta website that there is day-pass for only 3.5$, and this is valid for all bus and metro, and also for all-zone. Is this true? I notice one-way bus fare going to Niagara from buffalo-downtown is 2.25$, means the round trip will cost 4.5$. So, it will be more valuable if we buy one-day pass to go to Niagara round-trip.

Is this true? Please advise.

Thanks

Buffalo interested in Buffalo area
Posted: Thu March 30, 2006 07:35 PM UTC
Hello to the VT community for Buffalo NY. I am interested in getting some info on the area around the Buffalo State College. Think its on Elmwood Avenue and its near something called Park Lake? As I've read through some of the postings on the VR site already regarding Buffalo, I think I really do need to get some more info regarding this. I am considering attending Buffalo State but feel I need to get some real info on this area before making any further considerations. Is the area that the college in a area to be avoid, is it considered part of the south or east areas of the city that are better off avoided unless you know your way around? Any info given will be appreciated. BTW - Thinking of this for the fall of 2006.
