Brooklyn Walking Brooklyn to Coney Island
Posted: Thu June 26, 2008 04:48 PM UTC
I'm planning on walking from the Brooklyn bridge (Manhattan side) to Coney Island and was wondering if someone could recommend an interesting route through Brooklym. I know it's a haul but I've walked Manhattan tip-to-tip twice and was looking for something different (with a swim at the end a bonus!).

Thanks!

Brooklyn Safety in Brooklyn - Eastern Parkway
Posted: Sun June 1, 2008 08:50 PM UTC
Hello,

We are planning a vacation in NY and we found an appartment on Eastern Parkway, near by Washington Ave, Brooklyn. We understood there are some unsafe neighbourhoods in Brooklyn, so we would like to know if it's safe for a few people from Europe to stay there for a couple of days? Thank you.

Brooklyn Brooklyn Clothing
Posted: Sun July 15, 2007 11:54 PM UTC
Hey there,

I understand there's a store where you can buy sweatshirts, t-shirts, baseball caps which have that classic "Brooklyn" logo on them? I think the store is in Brooklyn and it specializes in these Brooklyn-themed items. Does any know what I'm talking about and if so - where it is and what it's called?

Thanks everyone,
Cailey

Brooklyn Coney Island to the Brooklyn Bridge (bus, train)?
Posted: Fri March 2, 2007 04:59 PM UTC
We are coming in May and will stay in NYC. We want to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and the Heights area and also want to spend some time at Coney Island. We're Seniors (full-fledged) and have to have a Nathan's hot dog, go the the Coney Island Museum and (if it's open the last week in May) ride the Carousel (I know it has a fancier spelling at Coney Island!). We would perfer to go to Coney 1st and walk back on the bridge a little before dark.

Can you help with transportation ideas?

Brooklyn Best Route from LaGuardia to Prospect Park
Posted: Tue December 12, 2006 06:14 PM UTC
Hello,
I am heading to the City for the first time in a couple weeks and need to know the best route from LaGuardia to the Prospect Park area (6th Ave @ 1st street). A relative went a few months ago and mentioned that she felt like the cabby jipped her on the fare (55 bucks) Spoke to my friend there and she mentioned the fare should be 20-30 bucks. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some advice so I can avoid the same situation.

Happy holidays.

Brooklyn Going to NY for the first time for Labor Day 2007
Posted: Mon November 13, 2006 08:31 PM UTC
I am going to NY for my very first time (from Detroit) for Labor Day weekend next year. Although the person I am going with has been there several times, we both like to pay as little for lodging as possible and I wondered if
1) it would be cheaper to stay in Brooklyn as opposed to staying right in NY and
2) how far is it to all the NYC attractions if we do stay in Brooklyn?
Let me know!
Thanks!

Brooklyn kings highway brooklyn, ny pizza
Posted: Thu January 19, 2006 03:09 AM UTC
Looking to take a trip back after 20 years. Here is what I'd like to go back too. Thanks in advance..

I really hope someone from Brooklyn, NY can help me. Try not to make this too long. 20 years ago I live in Brooklyn, NY but worked in Manhattan.
Hope I can remember all of this correctly. I remember that the last train I took was the D train from Manhattan to Brooklyn. I got off at the Kings Highway stop. When I would cross over the street after getting off the subway to catch a bus to go about another mile home, I would always grab a slice of pizza. This place was basically right there were I crossed the street. If I remember correctly, it was just on the other side of the road from the steps I came down from the subway.
If it helps, I also remember a Wendy's around there to , but this seems to come to mind as being like upstairs nearer to the subway train area?
Now, it may just be a young kid remembering the best slice of pizza ever because he was hungry, or just young..lol, but it was always great. I would just love to know the name of this place and if it is still there..?
Also, what part of Brooklyn is this area called or known as?
I lived off this pizza! Want to tell others about it if it's still there?
Drazy thing about this being such good pizza is that this area seemed to be a Jewish area? Or at least where I lived was?
Maybe it was further than I thought, as far as the bus ride home, once I got off the train, grabbed my pizza, then caught the bus.
At the corner where the bus left me off, down the road was where I lived. There was a grocery store on one corner and a Jewish House of worship on the other corner.
I would also love to remember the name of this road, and cannot.
I wish I could remember what direction I went on bus...
It was cool, I was young and rented a basement apartment for cheap in a cool brownstone from a Jewish family who sort of took me in..what times those were.
I must have gone either south or west on the highway on the bus.
Anyway, sorry this was so long and thanks for your time.
Great memories.

Brooklyn Help - Your Brooklyn advice and faves greatly appreciated
Posted: Wed September 7, 2005 09:37 PM UTC
Spending a week in NYC end of this month. I want to spend at least one day + evening in Brooklyn. Will likely walk across the bridge.
I'm thinking about an evening walk by Heights Promenade, Prospect Park, Williamsburg, etc. but have never had the pleasure.

Any sincere Brooklyn "musts" (food, walks, places to check out) or recommendations from local VTrs or VT Brooklyn fans would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much for your help.

Brooklyn Accomodations in Brooklyn Heights
Posted: Sat February 19, 2005 12:01 AM UTC
Am visiting a relative in Brooklyn Heights with my 6-year-old. Looking for safe and inexpensive accomodations in that area. Have found names of St. George Hotel, Bossert Hotel, and Awesome B&B. Awesome has a Web site with prices. Cannot find any other information on rates or (esp. important for me, since I can call for rates) travelers' reviews of these ratings. Please advise if you know about these places, or if you have other places to recommend. Cannot afford the Marriott. Thanks.

Brooklyn What is the best place to stay in Brooklyn?

Hello, I'd like to stay in downtown Brooklyn for about a week. Could someone tell me a good hotel/motel/B&B/inn? I'm looking to spend about $75 - $100 a night.

Also, does anyone know approximately how much it costs by taxi to go from LaGuardia airport to downtown Brooklyn?

Thanks very much.

Brooklyn Is this Brooklyn neighborhood safe?
Posted: Fri December 31, 2004 08:03 PM UTC
I'm planning to rent a place in Brooklyn and here's the intersection: Willoughby Avenue and Dekalb Avenue.
Would like to find out more about this neighborhood and the surrounding ones. Are they safe? What time should one not be found on the streets? Are they open to Asians being in the community? Thanks!
