| Las Vegas | Where to stay near the airport Posted: Sat March 29, 2008 09:18 PM UTC
We arrive in Las Vegas late on a Saturday night in May. We'll be staying on the strip the following Mon-Wed, but on Sun-Mon we're renting a car and going to the Grand Canyon (staying over there on Sunday night).
So we just need an inexpensive place to sleep in Vegas on Saturday night - we want it to be clean, easy to get to from the airport (by a free shuttle on Sat night), easy to rent a car on Sunday morning, then a way to get to the strip when we return the car (hopefully a free shuttle). Can anyone recommend a hotel we should look at? Thanks, Andrew |

| Las Vegas | Best way to see the lights Posted: Sat March 29, 2008 06:50 PM UTC
My husband and I (both seniors) and our 5 young teen-age grandchildren will be staying at the South Point Hotel in July on a Tuesday night. We would like to see the lights on "the strip" but are hesitant to drive our van because of the traffic and we do not want walk the streets. Is the traffic really as bad as we've been told? If we were to attempt the drive, about how long would it take us from our hotel and back? Any suggestions as to our options would be appreciated.

| Las Vegas | Bargain flights from Las Vegas to San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose??? Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 01:50 AM UTC
Anyone know of any bargain flights/car rental deals flying from Vegas to San Francisco - or close to that area? Dates I'm looking for are evening May 30th or early morning May 31st and return June 1st. The flight would be for my relatives who live in LV. They have found flights for $300+ pp rdtrp and that was too expensive. So they are probably looking for something more in the $200 range pp and less. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

| Las Vegas | Bargain flights Las Vegas to Flagstaff/Grand Canyon/Page??? Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 01:43 AM UTC
Anyone know of any bargain flights/car rental deals flying from Vegas to AZ - Flagstaff, Grand Canyon or Page - or close to that area? Dates I'm looking for are evening June 6th and return June 8th. The flight would be for my relatives who live in LV. They would like to meet up with me and my parents while we are traveling in the area. I have already booked our Grand Canyon accommodations for Thurs/Fri nights leaving on Saturday morning to go to Monument Valley. On Sunday we would be driving from Monument Valley to Page and probably on to Bryce Canyon. As the itinerary after the Grand Canyon is so fast-paced, having my relatives drive from Las Vegas wouldn't be practical for them as they only have the weekend... They were looking at meeting us the weekend before in San Francisco, but the flights were too expensive for them at about $300pp rdtrp. So they are probably looking for something more in the $200 range or less pp. Any ideas? I'd appreciate any tips.

| Las Vegas | Hotel between Phoenix and Vegas Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 03:05 PM UTC
I'm planning a big 2 week hiking/driving trip in June starting and ending in vegas. Need a nice relaxing hotel on my day off hiking/driving. Needs to be somewhere between Phoenix and Vegas (maybe near mohave?). Ideally somewhere in the middle of the desert where I can just get away from everything! Anyone have any ideas?

| Las Vegas | book grand canyon tours in advance or book when we get there? Posted: Tue March 18, 2008 01:32 PM UTC
Hi,
We are going to be in vegas for 2 nights only, first day getting there around 5-6pm. In our case, is it better to book gc tours on net in advance or book with hotel when we get there? I've been looking at different tours on the net but i have no idea which ones to pick... North/South/West? We are planning to go by helicopter, which tour do you recommend? is doing the skywalk & helicopter possible? i've seen tours with those 2 options for around usd 500 which is way over our budget, we are looking at max usd 300 per person. someone has said that it would be much cheaper to book when we get there but is it possible if we only get into town at 5pm? please recommend some tours and tour companies, thanks a lot!! |

| Las Vegas | Live bands Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 11:42 AM UTC
I'm going to Vegas with my partner on 26th April and staying for 6 nights.
We've booked some shows and the Grand Canyon tour, but I'd like to see some live bands. We don't want tribute acts or karaoke, we want to see some proper bands doing either Rock, Indie, Reggae, Americana, Country. Can anyone recommend some venues? TIA |

| Las Vegas | Quiet Accomodation and suitable for young children Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 05:24 AM UTC
Hi
Having done some searching for accommodation in Las Vegas, I have come to a possible conclusion that resort style, off strip is probably best for our family with two children, 2 and 4 yrs old. We will also have a car. Preference is for 2 rooms so that we don't have to go to bed at the same time as the kids. Having read a few reviews, there seems to be a lot of complaints about noise from adjacent rooms in these places. Can anyone advise on places like this that may be quiet in this respect? Any other Ideas on where to stay? We will be visiting in late May for a wedding and will be there for a few days but are unlikely to be doing any casinos with two young ones, so would like to know where there are some interesting places to visit and also shopping places. I saw somwhere else on this forum that there is an outlet mall out of town too? Thanks from Downunder... |

| Las Vegas | Few questions about Vegas and about Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon.... Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 07:25 AM UTC
Hello,
We are a group of 10guys going to Vegas for a bachelor party June 19-23 and are all 24-27yrs old. We booked to stay at Bill's but that can be changed...none of us have been to Vegas and the price seemed great as well as the location. Any other suggestions? We also rented to cars ($115/car - full size so $25/person) that way we have our own transportation to and from the airport and when we venture off too the hoover dam and death valley. Is that a good idea, car rental? Where else should we go site seeing? What bars/clubs are a must for a group of guys that enjoy partying, not interested in strip clubs? Somewhere where the women are easy to talk to and not completely snobby. but the drinks are flowing and the atmosphere is loose and wild :) Also, where are good places to eat with a decent cost per meal, under $25. Mexican, asian, italian? |

I will be staying in the Venetian hotel for four days in July. Are there any reasonably priced cafes or restaurants local that my teenage kids can go in and have buffet breakfast in less formal surroundings and pay a little less (as they generally don't eat that much).

| Las Vegas | hotel upgrades~ true or false? Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 06:21 PM UTC
We booked a vacation package for las vegas thru USAIR to stay at the New Yrok New York hotel. Right now it is a pretty penny to upgrade to the spasuite. USAIR told us to wait until we check in because if they are not busy at the hotel then they may let us upgrade for another $25 per night. Is it possible they would offer us such a deal when we get there? Forgive me as I don't know much about trying to upgrade in Vegas.

| Las Vegas | Stratosphere hotel and rental car? Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 04:16 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I will be staying at the stratosphere hotel march 16-20. We booked about a month ago when we found an amazing deal. Now that I am reading reviews, I am wondering if we need to rent a car. We're in our mid 20's from NYC (so we are used to walking,) and not too big into the club scene when it is just the 2 of us but we would like to be able to drink and keep our options open. The cheapest deal on a car we have found was $133 for the trip.
Is it worth it to rent a car? Are there cheaper rental rates available, and where? thank you |
