Warsaw Warsaw - Hotel shuttle service from Airport?
Posted: Wed November 4, 2009 03:29 PM UTC
I read somewhere that some of the downtown hotels offer free shuttle service from the airport. I don't know if this is true. Does anyone know? We're planning on stayindg somewhere in the main hotel area, in the vicinity of Ogrod Saski. Is this an OK location, or are there better alternatives?

Warsaw One day in Warsaw with kids
Posted: Thu October 8, 2009 08:51 PM UTC
We are flying from Cyprus to Norway and by far the cheapest way to go is by LOT airlines to Warsaw and then on to Oslo. This route does mean that we have a 10 hours stopover in Warsaw and I'd like to do something during that time. I will be travelling with two children aged 6 and 9 so not too much walking! Any suggestions would be great, i.e. best way to get into town from the airport, any child-friendly things to do, etc.

We're visiting Warsaw next month and would appreciate some help on the airport/hotel transfers (any shuttle buses or trains?) Also, as we'd like to do some sightseeing, perhaps somebody happens to know where to ask for good English speaking guide, unless we don't need one?

Warsaw Warsaw-Poland. Accomodation etc
Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 08:25 AM UTC
Hello,

I will be in Warsaw 17-18 July. Maybe I will need some hotel/hostel for night. Preferably some cheaper and somewhere in the centre of the city, or close to Warszawa Zachodnia station.

Can you recomend some cheap accomodation?
Must I book room in a hotel now, or it is possible to find free room at the day of arrival?

Is there luggage room in Zachodnia station where i could put my luggage?

Thanks!:)

Warsaw Train Warsaw-Berlin
Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 08:39 AM UTC
Hi there,

Sorry if this has been dealt with already (I had a quick scan through the forum but couldn't find this topic...)

I'd like to take the train from Warsaw to Berlin on 2nd June...there's a train that leaves Warszawa Centralna at 11:30 and arrives in Berlin Ostbf. at about 17:00. Polrail quoted me a price of 251 PLN plus a ticket delivery price of 21PLN.

I am currently living in Russia and unfortunately there is no time for the ticket to be delivered to me before I leave the country.

Will it be possible for me to buy a ticket to Berlin on the day of departure? And will the price be the same/less or more?

Thanks in advance!

Warsaw 4 days in Warsaw - highlights?
Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 03:51 PM UTC
Me and a friend are going to Warsaw next week for four days to attend the Beethoven's festival at the Royal Castle. We will be staying at a youth hostel in the Old Town.

I would be greatful if you could help me with the highlights of Warsaw? What places/monuments should we absolutely not miss? What are the traditional dishes of Poland? Any drinks?

Since we will be staying at the Old Town we will surely go around there, but what other areas are worth seeing? When it comes to the restaurants, are there any specific areas that we should try?

How about bars and nightlife? We are not into heavy clubbing, but nice cosy, maybe jazz or even disco bars would be nice to know of. Also are there any bars to avoid, we're gonna be two girls at late 20s..

Thanks in advance!

Warsaw First Trip to Warsaw, Poland
Posted: Wed February 18, 2009 07:31 PM UTC
We are planning to go to Warsaw, Krakow, Vienna and Prague in March 2009 with a stay of two nights in each city. This is our first trip to this area of Europe. We plan on doing all of the sight seeing and travel on our own and from reading the forum and VT, it appears this is not to difficult to do even for seniors.

We would appreciate any additional insight anyone has to offer us on Warsaw and Krakow. Restaurants, shopping and safety in of these cities. Also, to pay for the transfer from the Warsaw airport (WAW) how would you suggest to get Zloty? ATM, Money exchangers? Also, is the bus/metro system easy to use?

We appreciate any help - thank you in advance.

Warsaw Where to Stay?! For convinience, Culture & Fun
Posted: Tue November 18, 2008 03:04 AM UTC
Hi::: Visiting Warsaw between 13th December - 21st December. still haven't made my mind up in regards to hotel because I wanted to know where best area to stay is. i read a lot about "Old Town" is it just the charm or is this the happening area? ie: bars, clubs etc....

I was looking at MDM or Metropol Hotels...are they too far from action? I'm young and traveling alone, so I want to stay near where people go out to socialize.

Thanks. all tips welcome.

Warsaw Warsaw to Vienna (and return) by train
Posted: Fri November 7, 2008 05:53 PM UTC
I have to travel from Warsaw to Vienna and back by train and I would appreciate some advice from the forum gurus.

I will probably travel during the day from Warsaw to Vienna and would prefer to return by the night train (taking a couchette, most likely).

The normal return fare (without seat reservation or couchette) is somewhat around 100 euro.

Of course, my first choice would be to get Spar-price with 29 euro per seat and 39/49 euro for couchette. However, I am afraid these options will not available by the time I would have my travel dates confirmed.

So I am trying to research some other options.

Based on Jizdenka it seems like the cheapest option is to buy 2 tickets:
Warsaw-Bohumin-Warsaw (can be bought in Warsaw) roughly 32 euro, Bohumin- Vienna -Bohumin roughly 45 euro. However, I do not know if conductor can sell me the Bohumin-Vienna-Bohumin ticket on a train and I can not buy it online, unlike some other Czech-Austrian tickets. Any advice on that?

It seems that buying separate Bohumin-Breclav-Bohumin ticket does not make too much sense, but I might be wrong.

Buying tickets Warsaw-Breclav-Warsaw + Breclav-Vienna-Breclav seems to be about 6-7 euro more expensive which is not dramatic. As there are regular connections from Breclav to Vienna it might be a safe option in terms of getting off the train in Breclav and buying separate ticket to Vienna.
But I would certainly prefer cheaper and “non-stop” train, if possible.

Also, do you think it would be possible to buy one “couchette reservation” all the way through from Vienna to Warsaw on my return trip if I would have these two separate tickets?

Thanks in advice for you wisdom!

Warsaw Urget request: Suggest Night travel form Warsaw to prague
Posted: Wed October 29, 2008 10:16 PM UTC
Dear Friends,

I need your suggestions/help.

I am planning to travel form Warsaw - Prague on 3 Nov night.

Being a student, looking for the cheapest "Budget travel" option.

(Please don't post/answer something like Walk..)

I looked for Eurolines Bus & it is about (931 czk)

For this Should i Book in advance or can i buy few hours before the departure ?

ELSE..................

I heard that If I follow the following steps it can be still cheap (But RISKY ????? !!!!!!!).

But don't know how exactly it works ...i mean which type of train... etc etc,..( I don't speak either Czech or Polish..can manage a bit with English)

STEP 1

First, Buying a ticket in Train (?) from Warszawa to Zebrzydowice

STEP 2

Then a special train ticket in train (?) across the border from Zebrzydowice to Petrovice

STEP 3

Finally, Buying a ticket In train (?) until the Petrovice to Prague.

Can anyone tell me how much it costs ???

If I catch/take a direct train (sleeping/seat couch..something like that ...) how much it costs??

(I don't have any rail pass...)

Else is there any other cheap means of transport ?

Anything less than 30 € is well appreciated!!

If anyone can suggest/ help in this regard I would be Grateful & Thankful to you all...

Best wishes

Warm regards!

Sravani !

Warsaw Exchange rates at Okecie Airport in Warswaw
Posted: Wed September 17, 2008 10:26 AM UTC
I'm traveling to Poland in a couple of weeks and I've got a question about exchange rates for Euros. I'm aware that the airport Kantor offers the worst rates, but my question is.... how bad are they? I need some money for the first two days and I've been offered 2.95 zl per euro in Barcelona. Would it be a good idea to bring some zloty from home at that rate or is it still better to exchange some euros at the airport to keep me going?

Dziekuje bardzo za odpowiedz

Hi,
Can anyone help?
We are visiting from the Uk in September and wish to see the real Warsaw. We plan to see Legia Warsaw who are playing at home that weekend but want to go to a part of the city to eat local food and drink in local bars.
We are not precious and prefer down to earth places!
Please rescue us from the possibility of Irish bars and sky sports!
Any help and advice will be appreciated

Hi,

A few of us are going to warsaw on 12th Sep for 3 nights but our deal does not include breakfast.
The cost in the sofitel for beer and breakfast would appear to be excessive.
Can anyone recommend any decent bars for beer and cafes for breakfast near the hotel
thanks
