Accessible (disabled) toilets Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 04:41 PM UTC
Going to Poland for the first time to celebrate my friends wedding. As a full time electric wheelchair user (can't stand or walk at all) I am a bit concerned about being able to "spend a penny". Anyone know if / where the accessible (disabled) toilets are in Krakow and Warsaw?

Warsaw airport Posted: Tue May 20, 2008 11:31 AM UTC
Hello!
Iīve got a question about changing the plain at Warsaw airport. When I arrive at Terminal 2 I need to change the plain and depart from Etiuda Terminal. How much time does it take? I must take my luggage and at the Etiuda Terminal start from the beginning (check-in,...) ?
Thanks a lot for your advice because I am lost in this "mysterious" Etiuda Terminal and I canīt find it in any map about the airport.
Bye:)

Hotel Hyatt, how far to shopping centre and town centre? Posted: Sun May 18, 2008 02:49 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I'm going to Warsaw for conference from Sunday PM until Wednesday AM.and we're staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Obviously we want to do some sightseeing whilst there but I would also like to do some shopping. The only free time is Sunday pm and after 5 pm on Monday and Tuesday. (I'm only looking for department stores like Marks & Spences and C&A as they do clothes in larger sizes at good prices and there is nothing like this where I live).
Can anyone tell me the opening hours of the shops and how to get to them from the hotel ie taxi /bus?
Grateful for any help you can give

Is Warsaw worth a visit Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 11:35 AM UTC
We are looking to incorporate Poland into a 2 month trip to Europe. I have to say I am getting a bit spooked by all the warnings in regard to safety in Warsaw. Would it be better to skip Warsaw and spend the time in Krakow and the Tatra Mtns? Would we be missing out by not going to Warsaw? Also are there any other towns we could include - looking for a week in total in Poland. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any special events for anniversary of the Uprising of 1943? Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 12:19 PM UTC
A friend was remembering that yesterday was the anniversary of the Jewish uprising in Warsaw in 1943. We wondered if there were any special events or memorials taking place in Poland. If anyone has info or pics... could you please send to me? I have seen the tips and pics of the memorials posted under Ghetto tips.

Warsaw to Vilnius by bus.... Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 01:33 AM UTC
Hi Everyone,
Thanks alot for your input regards my query. I actually looked up www.litrail.lt and gathered info on train trips between these two cities. I also called the phone number provided and spoke directly to someone to confirm the info on that site regards the train schedules. I'll be posting a review about this experience when I get back which might be helpful to others in the future....
Cheers,
Howie....

Currency Exchange, etc. Posted: Fri April 11, 2008 03:33 AM UTC
Hi There! Need some help on my trip to Warsaw next week.
Where is the best place to change money, at the airport or in the City Centre? Are the rates the same no matter which place you go or is there a difference? I shall be staying at Premiere Class which I think is quite centrally located. Will it be within walking distance to cafes and shops? Is it convenient to take a bus to the EXPO Centre from my hotel? I am not planning on bringing too much cash but I read that credit card is still not readily accepted in cafes & restaurants. What about shops & malls can I use my credit cards there?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Short break in Warsaw Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 10:00 AM UTC
Hello. I'm off to Warsaw tomorrow with my flat mate and we are really looking forward to it! I have read the other comments made and taken note off all the places to visit. Could you please tell us the best way to get from the Etluda Terminal from the airport to the Czarny Kot where we are staying? Our flight will not be in until 10.30pm/11pm at night. Also as we will be celebrating St Patrick's day while in Warsaw - could anyone give any advice please on where best to celebrate? Many thanks for all your help in advance!

Long Layover ideas Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 11:35 AM UTC
I have a long 7 hour layover on a flight from Odessa to Athens in Warsaw. I have never been there and would like to know how far/difficult it is to get from the airport to the city center. I would like to go see something and eat dinner. My layover is from 1520 to 2240. It will be me and my friend (2 girls) traveling. Please give recommendations if this can be done or if it would be better to just sit at the airport, and if it can be done, what should we see, since we have a short amount of time.
Thanks, Jenn

Restaurants near Hyatt Regency Hotel? Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 06:08 PM UTC
Hey TravelBuddies :)
Do you happen to know a good restaurant close to the Hyatt Regency Hotel? Polish or anything else really and no matter what budget?
And if I'm there just for one night - which restaurant (out of whole Warsaw) would you say is a "must try"?
Thanx everyone :)

Train between Warsaw & Karakow: non-smoking cars? Posted: Thu February 14, 2008 05:38 PM UTC
I purchased non-smoking reservations and tickets to travel via train between Warsaw & Krakow. When I received the reservation, the word "SMOKER" appears on the reservation. When I called www.raileurope.com, they said that my reservations were indeed non-smoking.
1) Who can give me any information about the smoking vs. non-smoking situation on trains between Warsaw & Krakow? Is there a separate non-smoking section? Are there separate cars/coaches?
2) Has anyone purchased tickets from www.raileurope.com and had the word "SMOKER" appear on the reservation? What did it mean?
P.S. Just in case I have not been clear, I am a non-smoker and would be immensely more comfortable in a non-smoking section / car / coach.

me again- hotel question Posted: Fri February 1, 2008 03:28 PM UTC
I have narrowed it down to:
Mercure Fryderyk Chopin
Hotel Czarny Kot
Hotel Praski
MDM
I am wanting to know if there are any "Avoid at all costs" warnings for any of the above hotels; and I am wanting to know if anyone can say if I'll get my money's worth at the above places. I am looking for something in between super-cheap and the Bristol/Meridien.
I've read mixed reviews on Czarny Kot. I don't mind so much if a place is somewhat eccentric. I'd like a place that is comfortable, has helpful staff, and is mostly centrally located.
Thanks again!

Warsaw at night Posted: Fri February 1, 2008 01:12 PM UTC
It's me again this time with a question about what me and the 11 yr old can do in the evenings.
And before you suggest I read the Warsaw pages- did that and got GREAT tips from everyone's pages.
When my daughter and I were in Rome and London our biggest problem seemed to be what to do in the evenings. We had absolutely no problem finding plenty of things to do during daylight hours but after the sun went down we invariably found ourselves sitting in our hotel room surfing TV channels and reading. Boring. We can do that at home for free and with a full fridge!
Most travel books and VT travel pages only list night clubs as later night entertainment and since I sincerely doubt the little will be let into a dance club (although she'd be all for it, let me tell you) I was wondering if you have any other suggestions as to how we can amuse ourselves outside our hotel room in the evening. As usual - any ideas and suggestions are welcome. Thanks for all your help so far. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions later!!
Dzienkuje and do zobaczenia,
MB

airport to Warsaw transfer Posted: Sun January 27, 2008 04:28 PM UTC
My 11 yr old and I will be arriving at the WAW airport on 12 March. Given that it will be one adult and one cild with 2 (small) pieces of luggage- what is the most efficient/affordable way to get into the city proper. I don't have a hotel selected yet so I don't know if I'll have the option of a hotel shuttle bus for the trip.
I am SO excited about this trip. Feel free to offer any hotel/restaurant/sightseeing suggestions. It's our first trip to Polnd- we'll be in Warsaw for 8 days.
Thanks!
