Provincie Zuid-Holland Getting to Noordwijk and Katwijk
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 11:12 PM UTC
Hello everybody,

I'm a sports journalist from Romania and starting 20th of May I will be travelling to Holland to cover the national team's matches versus Ukraine, Denmark and Wales.

I've been told that the first training camp for the dutch team prior to the above games will be held in two different cities: Noordwijk and Katwijk.

Firstly, I want to know whats the distance between these two cities (Noordwijk and Katwijk) and Amsterdam, where I plan to book a hotel during the first week of my stay in Holland?

Secondly, I want to know how can I get to Noordwijk and Katwijk from Amsterdam and how long the trip is going to take?

The 2nd dutch training camp, between 26th of May and 1st June is going to be held in a village called "Hoenderloo".

I have two options for the 2nd week of my stay in Holland: to book a hotel in Rotterdam or in Eindhoeven.

I would like to know which of these cities is closer to Hoenderloo?
And how can I can get to Hoenderloo from either Eindhoven or Rotterdam and how long the trip is going to take?

I thank you in advance for your help and will be waiting for your replies.
Kind regards from Bucharest

Keukenhof Help needed: Keukenhof
Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 07:19 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm planning to go to Keukenof and I've read that there's a direct bus from Schiphol airport (bus 58) to Keukenhof. My flight arrives at 7pm in the evening at Schiphol. What time is the last bus departing from airport to Keukenhof?

If bus 58 going to Keukenhof is no longer available at night, is there another bus or train from the airport that can take me somewhere near Keukenhof?

Also, any suggestions on a cheap accommodation to spend the night near Keukenhof? I can stay overnight here then go to the garden/park the next day for a daytrip.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!!!!

Leiden What is the best way to get from the airport to Leiden?
Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 03:52 PM UTC
We plan to go from the airport to Leiden, from Leiden to Keukenhof and back, to Haarlem and back, and on the third day back to the airport. We would also like to go to Madurodam at some point, maybe on the way to the airport, if it works out--or we can take a side trip from Leiden. Would you recommend the bus or the train? Can you get a book of tickets cheaper than buying them one at a time?

Thank you, Arlene Schander

Keukenhof Are flowers bloomed in Keukenhof ?
Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 10:20 AM UTC
Hello dear Netherland VT mates.

While next weekend we will be there in Keukenhof , we really wonder if flowers are already bloomed in the area , or we will do a looooong way from Greece to be disappointed ? :) :)

And something else : some people say take your ticket to Keukenhof through their web page to avoid big lines of waiting people.
IS THIS TRUE ?

Will be happy to have an answer from you. Thanks a lot.

(weather here start turning to spring and temp goes up - really nice)

Take care

Provincie Zuid-Holland Questions about Middelharnis
Posted: Fri February 22, 2008 11:31 PM UTC
Hello!

I will be visiting Middelharnis in mid March and have a few questions.

1. What is public transportation like. I assume the nearest train access is Rotterdam. So are there buses from ther to middelharnis and how often do they run? Is there a website with the schedules and bus numbers? We will probably spend a night there so is there regular bus transport to neighbouring communities?

2. Is there another major community besides Roterdam that would be a good connecting point to get to Middelharnis? Dordrecht or Breda perhaps?

3. Accomdation. Are there reasonably priced hotels in or near to Middelharnis?

4. This is a difficult one! I'm going to be trying to trace an old friend who lived in Middelharnis when I was a child about 1970. Are there public records that might help me find out what happened to them. I asume the family is long gone from the address so I would be looking at maybe housing record/marriage who knows? What would you look for if you were trying to trace an old friend from childhood?

Many thanks
Mike

Dordrecht P+R in Dordrecht
Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 08:00 PM UTC
I'm taking a train from Dordrecht and will park at P+R Markettenweg. How long does it take to get to the station on foot? The map does not show an obvious route because the station and P+R have the rails separating them! Maybe there's a pedestrian tunnel?
Thanks!

Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel Trees
Posted: Mon January 21, 2008 12:51 AM UTC
I'm writing a book about your area, and I wondered what kinds of trees do you have. I believe it is the birch tree that grows out over the canals and has loose bark. What other kinds of trees do you have in your area. Also, do you have caterpillars and what colors are they?

I would very much appreciate your help in giving me details about your lovely city. Thank you.
