Crimea Travel Forum

I am planning to visit the Crimea 10th July 2008 for one week with a view to finding an apartment. I would like to find a guide/translator for this trip. Has anyone been there? any info you can give me? I know Kiev but have little idea about Crimea.

Crimea is a great place to go, but to get away from the usual tourist scene, try going east! Feodosia is a beautiful spot, on the shores of the Black Sea, but still near the mountains. There are a lot of historical remains in and around the city. The big hotel chains have not discovered Feodosia yet, so it has cheaper rates and a small-town feel.

We visited recently and stayed in a rental apartment (rentmyflatinfeodosia.com). The apartment was just renovated and is a great value. The neighborhood is somewhat drab, but the "A (for Apartment) Team," led by Inna, more than made up for that, showing us all the best places in town and round about, offering translation services, and driving us anywhere we needed to go.

We enjoyed seeing the ruins of the medieval fortress and towers, walking the coastal trail hung on the cliffsides over the Black Sea, and buying produce in the huge farmers' market. Feodosia has a lot to offer!
