Can anyone explain this?

American Airlines
Toronto to Chicago: 10:10 am arriving 10:40am

There is a time difference but the flight is only supposed to be about 40-45 minutes. AA could not explain this to me.

Chicago Weather in May?
Posted: Mon April 28, 2008 04:41 PM UTC
I know weather is unpredictable, but does anyone know what May is usually like (May 10-16, or mid May)?

The weather network's long range forecast only gives me for this week.

Chicago Train from O'Hare airport to downtown hotel (I know this has been asked many times, sorry)
Posted: Sun April 27, 2008 07:43 PM UTC
After looking at shutttle prices, we are thinking of the train to save money. I know each train has a seperate area for luggage, but once we get off, are there any stairs involved to walk to our hotel? I have injuries and a heel spur, not sure how far the walk would be to 40 Grand Avenue East (Homewood Suites) once we get off the train. Would lugging a large suitcase each (with wheels) be a problem?

TIA!!

Chicago 1st time in Chicago!
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 11:15 PM UTC
We're in Toronto and considering to fly out of Buffalo. Any help with questions would be greatly appreciated:

1. Is there a low cost shuttle from O'Hare aiport to our hotel (near Magnificent Mile)? We don't want to take the train for $2.

2. Is the Go Chicago card available once we get to Chicago? I see the card on sale via internet, but not sure if that is the lowest price we can get.

3. We're interested in shopping and "some" attractions, how many days would we need (4, 5, 6, etc)?

Any other tips would be nice.

Thanks in advance!!

Chicago Riding the Subway
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 06:36 AM UTC
I'm planning on riding the Subway from O'Hare to downtown. What I'm concerned about mainly is safety. I'm sure I'm being a little too cautious but I figure better safe than sorry. I'll be going one way on a Friday morning and heading back to O'Hare on Sunday late morning. While toting a carry-on, and laptop I'll obviously have tourist written on my forehead so do I have anything to worry about?

Thanks ahead

Chicago moving from suburb to chicago
Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 03:53 AM UTC
I'm moving from La Grange to an affordable place in Chicago where I can get to I90 pretty quick. I've found many surprisingly cheap ones on CraigList in the Humboldt park/Logan square area, wondering of how safe they are. Ty.

Chicago Chicago Premium Outlets @ Aurora vs Lighthouse Place Outlets @ Michigan City
Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 05:11 PM UTC
Hi
Hope I could get some help on this...

1. Any advice which one is better for shopping? =) I only know that Lighthouse Place Outlets have Burberry but Chicago Premium Outlets do not.

2. Anyone can tell me how good is the Burberry sales?

3. Need some advice (due to my lack of sense of direction!) - how far are these apart from each other? I am only planning to go to 1 of them - but then again which one is nearer to Chicago city?

Thank you in advance!

Chicago Cheap but good eats in Rosemont
Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 06:02 PM UTC
Looking for cheap, but good eats around the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont. Will be there for a conference in Oct--not funded by an employer--and need to save money, yet fill my belly. Any help would be appreciated. Adventurous eater and ethnic foods are welcomed. However, I would prefer local non-franchised places if possible.

Chicago Downtown Parking on Friday Afternoon
Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 08:09 PM UTC
Hi -
I will be bringing a few kids (16-19) to Chicago (northwest suburbs) this weekend for a soccer tournament (weather is not supposed to be great - yuk) and would like to take them downtown for the afternoon. I plan on driving right to the Field Museum around noon. After that they would like to do something else, but the boys are not interested in shopping. I was thinking I would take them to the Sears Tower then out for pizza before we head to the hotel. Are there any suggestions for a good (secure) place to park around the Field Museum or Sears Tower so that I only have to park at one lot and it would be convenient to everything we want to do? I just don't want to have to pay in 2 lots ($$$). Any suggestions for where to get pizza?
Thanks!

Chicago storage ??
Posted: Sat April 5, 2008 12:39 AM UTC
Hi there,

I will be arriving into O'Hare at around midday in just under 2 weeks time and then later that day meeting up with a friend and staying at their place. However, it is north of the city in Lincolnwood and I think they are probably going to be at work for most of the day that I arrive.

Now, as much as I would be quite happy to go exploring the city by myself, I don't really want to do it with a suitcase !! Also, I'm guessing that its not particularly convenient to leave it at luggage storage at the airport to then have to go back there for it.

So, can anyone recommend any place to store luggage in the city centre for a few hours ... for example, one of the train stations maybe ?? Any other ideas will be very much appreciated !!

Thanks in advance,
Darren

Chicago Signature Room dress code
Posted: Tue April 1, 2008 11:02 AM UTC
Hi,

We have made reservations for dinner at the Signature Room. After I made the reservation, I saw they have a dress code that states "no gym shoes".

Now, I am not really sure what they mean with gym shoes. I always wear Nike running shoes, I don't have anything else. Is that going to be a problem? Does anyone have any experiences with dining at the Signature Room and how strict their dress code is enforced?

Chicago condo area advice
Posted: Tue April 1, 2008 03:09 AM UTC
I have a choice between renting a condo for our Chicago vacation either in the Grant Park area or the Near North area. I can make either location work for what we want to do but I'm wondering if either one is a more safer location to stay at. Thanks!

Chicago Place to stay near Toyota Park
Posted: Thu March 27, 2008 05:15 PM UTC
Hello. My daughter and I will be going to Toyota Park for a concert this summer. Can you recommend some nice hotels (not motels) in the area to check out? We won't have time to go into Chicago, so that's not a concern. A place within a 30-minute drive or so would be good. Will be heading back to Michigan the next day. Thanks.

Chicago Cornerstone Music Festival
Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 01:58 PM UTC
Has anyone been to this festival in the past? I know it's about a 3 1/2 drive from Chicago, but I did not see a forum for Marietta, IL.

I've checked their web site www.cornerstonefestival.com , but just curious if you went and if you thought it was worth it, fun, or whatever.

Thanks !

Chicago Megabus reservation problems
Posted: Sun March 23, 2008 05:20 AM UTC
Sunshine 9689 or anyone else:

Do you know a direct telephone number to the Megabus (or Coach USA) Customer Relations Office? I am having trouble getting Megabus to locate the reservation for which they accepted payment from my VISA account (as verified to me by my bank). (The situation is a bit more complex, but this is the crux of it.)

Thank you.

Chicago Chicago Hotels
Posted: Fri March 21, 2008 11:50 PM UTC
Chicago is now the last City on my list that I haven't found a hotel which I've decided to go for.

From information I've received so far (and a helpful website) suggests that a lot of bars which I'm likely to frequent at night are in the Lincoln Park area. So, probably seems logical that I try and base myself around that area while I'm in Chicago.

Also, I need the hotel to have an Internet Connection and Ideally be circa $200-250 per night.

Any help is obviously appreciated.

My current thought is the Chicago Hard Rock Hotel

Is it safe nowadays to walk through the park behind the museum?
