Waikiki Waikiki Info needed
Posted: Thu September 10, 2009 02:37 AM UTC
Hi All,

We are travelling to Hawaii and staying in Waikiki next Monday 14th of September. There is 3 families (all related) consisting of 6 adults and 5 teenagers and 1 baby.

What can people suggest about shopping. Where are the bargains. Where are the value for money food eateries.

And for the guys where are the best places to grab a coldy.

What places should we steer clear of?

Basically after any advice you can offer. We will be doing the Pearl Harbour tour as I don't believe you can come to Hawaii without paying your respects.

Cheers,

Shane

Waikiki Having a barbecue in Waikiki, . Public parks
Posted: Tue September 1, 2009 07:03 AM UTC
Hi

Do any of you know where to throw a barbecue in Waikiki. I have read that Fort DeRussy has grills and is a nice place. Any suggestions for places to grill, and for good food to serve and where I can buy it. I'm going to Costco for steaks, dog and burgers. Any cool deli suggestions or food I should serve:
age group is 20 to 55 in a wedding party mode,

Thanks for any help.

Waikiki Around the Island on "the Bus" and places to avoid
Posted: Tue July 14, 2009 02:01 AM UTC
Aloha ahiahi from Vancouver, Canada

Is there a single transit bus that will take you around the entire island without transfers? or would you recommend a tour bus?

Also, are there certain streets or areas of Waikiki one should avoid? (We have something called "East Hastings" in downtown that is not a nice area ie drugs, homeless etc)

Mahalo in advance.

Waikiki Maximum Guests in Room Limits?
Posted: Sun June 21, 2009 09:14 AM UTC
Aloha, I have a question on hotel room limits in Waikiki. We are planning to travel to Waikiki in late November. There will be 2 adults and 3 children all aged under 5. It would seem that the extra child is cutting down our options in terms of where we can stay. Are these limits set by the Hotel themselves or is this a legal requirement. One of the hotels we looked at has a limit of 4 guests but has 2 double beds and a pull out sofa bed. I would like to think that this would be more than enough for us.

Can anyone shine some light onto this?

Thanks in advance.

Waikiki Which area to stay at Waikiki?
Posted: Sat September 6, 2008 12:07 AM UTC
Hi, I will stay at Waikiki for 4 nights in October. I'm not sure which area is best to stay in: near Fort de Russy beach park or Kuhio beach park. I need to choose between hotels Castle Maile Sky Court and Waikiki Sand Villa Hotel. I read that the beach near Castle Maile Sky Court is the nicest beach area, but I think all the action is near Kuhio beach. Is it a long walk from Maile Sky Court to Kuhio? I would like to stay near a beach area where I can rent a surfboard. It would be great if anyone could advise me on this. Thanks!!!

Waikiki Which is the Better Hotel: ResortQuest Waikiki Beach v. Waikiki Beach Marriott
Posted: Tue February 27, 2007 11:04 PM UTC
We're traveling to Oahu for a little 5 days getaway next month (just hubby and I- no kids)-- hotel choices are Resort Quest Waikiki Beach, Waikiki Beach Marriott (perhaps Hyatt Regency Waikiki, Sheraton Moana Surfrider).

ALSO-- anyone hear anything positive about the New Otani? It sounds like the New Otani is on a great stretch of beach (Sans Souci).

Overall, we'd prefer to be toward the east (Diamond Head area)-- away from the hustle/bustle (been there and done that 20 years ago).

Will spend time on beach, in water, hike Diamond Head, visit USS AZ.

Our trip is in conjunction with a 2 hour meeting hubby has one afternoon. Not bad to spend 5 days in a WARM locale for a 2 hour work function!

We like comfy acommodations, but don't necessarily require "posh!"

Thanks for any input~

Waikiki Accommodation near beach & nightlife for youngier party goers????
Posted: Wed February 7, 2007 12:13 AM UTC
Hi

I am trying to find a hotel that is close to the beach, shops and nightclubs that is cheap.
We would like somewhere with a pool, and lots of young people to meet up & have a drink with - aimed at a younger crowd rather than families & oldies looking for a quiet holiday.
We don't mind not staying in a 5 star resort, and have thought about staying at the hostel, but aren't sure we want to share bathrooms etc.
I have looked at Royal Grove & The Ambassador - but not sure if they're what we're after
Any advice would be great!
we're going early April for 2 weeks.

thanks heaps!!!

Waikiki Waikiki Weather
Posted: Mon January 8, 2007 08:26 PM UTC
What are the warmest (with least rainfall) months for Waikiki/Oahu travel? I know that every month is warm and beautiful, but I'd like to participate in a number of water sports, so slightly warmer temps would be nice. 70 - 74 degrees is a little too cool for me. I'd prefer 75 - 80 degrees. I'd also like to avoid the rainy season & pack in as much sun as possible. I've looked online, but all I can find are sites with forcaster gobbledegoop. Can anyone teach me a bit about Oahu weather? Much appreciated!

Waikiki Hilton Hawaiian Village eventing entertainment & Fireworks
Posted: Thu October 19, 2006 09:15 PM UTC
I see on the Hilton Hawaiian Village website that there is entertainment on Friday's refered to as "Aloha Friday King's Jubilee & Fireworks" The entertainment includes "Village Guards Precision Rifle Drill Team, Main Show at the Super Pool, and Fireworks Display." Is there a fee for this, are tickets requried? Basically, what's the deal, and best area to view the entertainment? Do we need to get there early, etc.? Any information appreciated. Thanks for sharing what you know about these Friday evening events.

Also, I read there might be construction going on at the hotel, is that affecting the show? Thanks.
