Honolulu Aqua Waikiki Marina
Posted: Mon October 19, 2009 08:14 AM UTC
Hi,

I've discovered what looks to be a pretty good deal with this hotel, and although me and my girlfriend aren't overly fussy, 2.5 stars does concern me a little bit.

Has anyone stayed here, any good/bad bits about it, and is it good enough for 2 20-somethings with no real airs and graces, but who enjoy a comfortable, clean, stress free stay?

Also, is it worth hiring a car for 5 nights, or is there plenty of public/tourist transport? I would quite like to go up and check out the North Coast, Waimea Bay, Sunset, Pipe, etc. Would this only be possible with a hire car?

Thanks for your help

Honolulu Restaurant and meeting space in or near the International market place
Posted: Wed October 14, 2009 08:11 PM UTC
I have a group staying at the Ohana East Hotel on Kaiulani Avenue next year. They are seeking a meeting room that would hold about 40 people within walking distance to the hotel, as well as a restaurant (not fast food) for their farewell dinner. The hotel prices are somewhat high. Is there any place you can recommend?

Many thanks for your help.

Honolulu Puka Dogs
Posted: Thu October 8, 2009 03:17 AM UTC
I heard this placed discussed on the radio: http://www.pukadog.com

Has anyone tried it? If so, what do you think? In terms of overall taste and enjoyment, how do these hot dogs compare to ones you've tried in other cities?

Is the real estate in Hawaii as bad as in Europe and the rest of the world? Bad in a sense that it's way too cheap?

Honolulu Bus to Arizona from cruise ship
Posted: Thu July 16, 2009 06:23 PM UTC
I'll be in Honolulu on a cruise in late Sept. We wish to go to the Arizona by bus, rather than spend the astronomical price that Carnival charges. Where would we pick up the bus? Is it somewhere close to the Carnival cruise pier?

Honolulu Best Room/Should I Upgrade?
Posted: Fri June 12, 2009 05:49 PM UTC
I booked my room (Hilton Resort and Spa) through a travel agent, I am not sure what room or view I have, should I expect to be in the cheapest room available? Will my Travel Agent know what view/room? Should I ask for an upgrade? I want a great view and a really nice room. Does the hotel automatically upgrade once I arrive? Let me know, I want this to be the best vacation ever--since I am taking my mom on HER dream vacation; she is 71 years old and has wanted to go to Hawaii since she was a young girl. Thanks

Honolulu Aqua Waikiki Wave or Ohana East
Posted: Fri May 8, 2009 10:26 AM UTC
I want to choose between these two hotels in Waikiki:

1)Aqua Waikiki Wave ***
2299 Kuhio Avenue, (Formerly Aqua Coral Reef Hotel), Honolulu, Oahu, HI 96815

2)OHANA East ***
150 Kaiulani Ave, Honolulu 96815 USA

The price is almost the same. Anyone knows about them, where they are according to walking distance from main spots, beach, nightlife?

How easy is to reach them by bus from the airport?

Honolulu 9 days in hawai without a car
Posted: Sat February 28, 2009 09:42 AM UTC
we'll be in Hawaii next october for 9 days. I dont drive so I wonder which islands are easier for me to explore. I like sightseeing, walking in cities or nature and I dont care about surfing etc

I was thinking to start from Oahu, staying there for 3 days and then relax at Kauai which I've been told is the most romantic island. How easy is to move around this island?

Honolulu Backpacking Hawaii
Posted: Fri February 20, 2009 12:15 PM UTC
I am seriously considering travelling to Hawaii this summer for 4 weeks, but will do so alone and as a backpacker. Is this a good place for backpacking, meeting people, and just "go with the flow"? Or should I hold of on going to Hawaii until I have someone to travel with? If I were to go, where should I start to meet up with people?

Secondly, I'd love to take the PADI open water course to learn diving. I have been looking at the different diving companies, but has any of them got especially good/bad reputation? (any recommendations?)

All answers and advice is very much appreciated =)

Honolulu Authentic Hawaiian restaurant?
Posted: Fri December 5, 2008 05:49 PM UTC
Hey everyone! I've been in Honolulu for only 2 nights already and I love it! Gorgeous!

Anyways, my hotel is in Waikiki, which is obviously very populated with tourists. I'd like to eat some authentic Hawaiian food but get out of Waikiki. You know, just somewhere where regular folks would go. I have a car, so I can go wherever. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Honolulu US Citizen clearing customs in Honolulu

Thanks to all who can help. I am a US citizen and will be returning to Los Angeles from Sydney via Honolulu. I will be landing in Honolulu, and changing airlines to continue on to LA. Does anyone have recent experience concerning the amount of time to clear customs at the Honolulu Airport? I will have no checked luggage, just a large carry-on bag. Thanks again! Honolulu away from the crowds
Posted: Sat October 25, 2008 12:46 AM UTC
We are a party of 4 (from the UK) one of whom will celebrate her 60th birthday during our visit in January 2009. We are taking a trip to visit relatives in New zealand and hope to use Oahu for a relaxing week after hectic time getting around all the family. We would like somewhere not to commercialised but not to far away from civilization either. We fly into Honolulu International airport. Any suggestions as to which area we should be looking at to book accomodation. The only must see is the Arizona Memorial. We can hire a car but don't want to be driving long distances. As you can probably gather we know absolutely nothing about the area and will be grateful for any advice.

Many Thanks

Honolulu Short Layover in Honolulu
Posted: Thu September 4, 2008 07:15 PM UTC
Our ship comes into port in the early AM on Saturday and our flight leaves at 3:00 PM. We are debating what to do in the meantime (with luggage in tow). Renting a car to either go to the other side of the island and back, or to go to another site (i.e. Pearl Harbor) seems the best route. We would love to see as much as possible before we leave Oahu...to get a good "view" of the island. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
