PLEASE help me contact this shop on St.George St !!! Posted: Mon August 11, 2008 10:45 PM UTC
I know this is a shot in the dark, but I was in a shop on St. George street recently and I need the name/number for it. This is all I remember: Its on the right (maybe 1/3 of the way in -?) as you enter from Cathedral Pl. Its a gift shop, where I bought a small "hippie" bag and I remember there being other novelty bags. 1 or 2 stores down (on the same side and down a hallway) was tiny cigar shop and a new age magic shop. There was a bench near the entrance.
If anyone knows the name of this gift shop I will be forever indebted. I'm kicking myself for not buying a particular item....
Thanks a ton!

Driving down the coast via route 1A Posted: Mon June 2, 2008 05:32 PM UTC
Hello VT members. I want your advice on a driving route. Our family is driving down I-95 from PA and will spend a day and overnight Friday in St Augustine. We will end up in Orlando to check in Saturday night.
Is it a good idea to take 1A down to Daytona Beach then get I-4 over to Orlando. I am sure it will take twice as long as I95 but thought it would be scenic and memorable. Maybe stopping along way to walk out on beach if possible.
Specifically, will I have to pay tolls to get down to Daytona at bridges and State Parks? How many?
Should I do it?
Jim

Christmas in St. Augustine Posted: Sun October 7, 2007 05:42 PM UTC
HI! We go to St. Augustine usually once or twice a year. We just came back from a wonderful trip in September. We are planning another trip christmas week. We were wondering if there are any good restaurants open on christmas. We are staying at the St. George Inn on St. George St. and will have a car.

Oldest Home? Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 04:42 PM UTC
It sounds like the structure that is sitting is from the 1700s. Is there anything left of the 1575 home? There is a home in Maine, the John Bray House, that was built in 1662.

purses Posted: Sun August 12, 2007 03:36 PM UTC
I visited St. Georges Street in St. Augustine last week and regret not buying a couple of purses that I saw. The shop was full of all kinds of purses, but the owner had a large inventory of Mary Frances purses. Does anybody know the name of the shop and how I can get in touch?

Down to Earth Bar / Club in the Area Posted: Sun August 5, 2007 05:06 PM UTC
My wife and I are planning to visit the St. Aug area this weekend (Aug 10-12). Can anyone recommend a Down to Earth Bar or Club where anything goes and living on the edge is acceptable and not frowned upon. We are in our late 30's mid 40's couple. Not much into the disco or dancing scene. A place that offers good music, crowd and atmosphere is prefered. Thanks in advace.

A Couple of Qs Posted: Mon October 16, 2006 10:58 PM UTC
Hello travelling friends,
We're heading to Orlando in December and are thinking of visiting St. Augustine while we're down. We're undecided as to how long to stay. It would be 4 adults and 2 young (under 4) children. Normally I wouldn't hesitate to stay for a weekend, but with the kids, I'm not sure if we should just make it a day trip. So my question is: can it be done without rushing in one day? Or is it best to stay the night? Also, from what I've read here and elsewhere, I get the impression that all the tourist attractions are within walking distance, is this correct? Im sure I'll have more questions...thanks for any advice!

Is this a good place for a single 40something woman traveling alone? Posted: Sun July 9, 2006 04:55 PM UTC
Hello everyone,
I'm considering a trip to St. Augustine, based on a friend telling me how pretty it is, and also that it's not just a 'beach town' (Important, since I want to go to the beach, but I want to do other things as well.
I'm a woman, traveling alone, and I don't drive, but I was told that the trolly goes alot of places, including to the beach, and there are things to see and do in St. Augustine itself.
My questions are...I'm considering the Holiday Inn Downtown Historic District. It has a pool, and it is supposed to be centrally located, anyone have any ideas on it? Do they have a contienetal breakfast?
the other is I'm wondering what else is around to see and do for someone traveling alone? Is there evening enternatinment, or do they just roll up the sidewalks?
Any ideas are appreciated.
Thankyou,
Fyre

We are staying at Grande Villas at golf world outside of St. Augustine but the courses there seem very expensive. Anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced public course?

Nature preserves and St. Augustine??? Posted: Sat October 1, 2005 07:00 PM UTC
Hi!
My original plans for a January trip to Florida have had to be scrapped. Now I'm considering the possibility of St. Augustine. So far I've been able to find lots of info on places of historical interest (which is good) but none at all on any nature preserves, hiking areas, or good places for birding & general nature watching.
Also, can anyone give me a feel for how "busy-busy" the place is? I'm looking for sun, fresh air, nature & quiet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!!
