Reunion Resort Posted: Mon July 6, 2009 04:47 PM UTC
Hi, I posted a question a couple of months back as I'm researching somewhere to stay on holiday next year. We are looking for a 3 bedroom property in a resort with facilities onsite - pool, restaurant etc. I came across the ginn reunion resort which looks fab! Has anyone stayed there? Or can anyone suggest something similar to this? Appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Tips/tricks for visiting Disney? Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 05:20 PM UTC
So I'm planning a trip to Disney for the winter and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good books for choosing restaurants, hotels, etc? There are so many books out there about Disney that I'm starting to feel overwhelmed...I recently bought a great book about the secrets of Disney called “The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World” by Susan Veness. It’s got a lot of secret facts about Disney and it walks you through all the attractions so it doubles as a guide to the park. I know it'll come in really handy while we're there. But I'm still looking for more info about where to stay/eat/shop/etc. Any suggestions??

Me Again! Few more questions! Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 07:11 PM UTC
I have finally confirmed our flights and know where we are staying!
Now to plan what we are doing when we get there, we are travelling 11 December - 8 January!
1, First, it's my friends birthday on New Years Eve? Any ideas of what to do It'll be 4-6 Adults and 4-5 Aged 5-16 Children! I am thinking most places book early so need some options to consider!
2, In 2004 when I bought my Disney Pass it included a free character breakfast, when I went in 2006 it didn't and we never got round to finding out how to book and how much it would be! Can anyone let me know?
3, Any info on the Disney Christmas Parties would be great - are they worth the additional cost?
4, What dates do the parks start getting busy over Christmas?
5, Do the Sales in the Malls start on Boxing Day or Jan 1st?
If anyone has any other ideas or info that might help I would be much obliged!

Orlando without a car Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 03:39 AM UTC
Hi
We'll be in Orlando for 10days in early Decemeber.
We will not be driving, any recommendation which area will be more convenient, International Drive, Buena vista or kissimmee?
Have anyone been to HGV International Drive, Vacation Village at Parkway, Orlando International Resort Club or Polynesian Isles? Any comments on these resorts? Are there any eating places, supermart, and shopping malls nearby?
Beside DisneyWorld, Universal Studios and IOA, we plan to go Richard Petty Driving Ride-along and Gatorland. May I know how can I get there?
Thanks in advance for all feedback and comments.

Where to stay? Posted: Sun June 21, 2009 10:41 PM UTC
Hi,
i have been to Orlando quite a few times and have stayed in various places - I avoid I-drive like the plague though - hate really touristy areas!
We have stayed in a few places around Kissimmee and when I visited with work last year we stayed at the Lake Buena Vista Village (next to the factory outlets) and I was considering staing here again. 1 problem - I am staying for 28 nights and even with an ahents discount it's proving to be costly. $2750.00 for a 2 bed apartment and $3335.00 for a 3 bed! I am staying mid december to mid Jan so I am aware that it is over a peak time.
I liked this as an option as it's OK if you don't drive ( I drive, it's others in our pary that don't). If they don't want to rely on us it's only $20.00 in a taxi to Universal and they even do shuttles. And then theres the option to stay on resort and if you fancy a drink theres a separate bar just over the road. Theres also the shops in the outlet.
If we stay in a villa in Kissimmee it can get quite isolated as you have to drive everywhere and obviously you can't drink - if you are in a big group you always have to compromise when sharing a car! It's generally always been to expensive to use taxis to get anywhere in Kissimmee or Davenport.
Can anyone recommend and suites similar to the LBV Village? we require 2 or 3 bed suites.

We are taking our 8 year old boy for to Disney World for the first time for the last two weeks of October (2009). Couple of questions. What's the weather like at this time of year? We will be staying at the Radisson Hotel Orlando-Lake Buena Vista. Any comments on this hotel? Area? I appreciate any comments or anything that might help us make this a memorable trip. Thanks

Orlando Walt Disney Hotels and 4 Nts Royal Carribean Cruise to the Bahamas Posted: Wed May 27, 2009 06:35 AM UTC
Has anyone stayed at the Walt Disney Hotel - Dolphin or the Royal Plaza Hotel in downtown Disney area and/or experienced a 4-night cruise from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas (July)? Please share your experience about these hotels and any Royal Carribean cruise to the Bahamas.
Should I be concerned about a cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida to the Bahams in the month of July?
I appreciate your input. Thank you so much.

State Park with a water park Posted: Wed May 20, 2009 07:25 PM UTC
Hello, Spending next week in Kissammee area and besides visits to both coast's beaches and a canoe day at Wakiwa State Park I want to take kids to a water park but don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for all 5 of us. Is there any State Parks that also have a water park/Wet Zone/ kids water activity or large public pool with that kind of water kid play zone type of thing?
Thanks Jim

What to do in Orlando Posted: Wed May 20, 2009 04:37 PM UTC
About 15 years ago my nephew took me to Church Street Station in downtown Orlando. I have seen some comments that it is closed or no longer a good attraction. Has anyone gone there recently and is it worth going? 4th trip to Florida, did all the parks already as well as beaches but we never ventured into Orlando City. Any suggestions on what to see in the city for a family?

Buses / taxis / coaches / trains !!! Posted: Mon April 20, 2009 11:26 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm due to be coming to Orlando in a couple of weeks and then heading on to Miami afterwards. I've got a couple of questions that I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with please !!
1) - I am looking to stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites (on Canada Avenue) and was wondering if someone could tell me the best way to get there from the airport. Would it be a taxi ?? And if so, do you have any idea of the approximate cost ?? Or is there some sort of hotel shuttle bus option ??
2) - When I head down to Miami after a week in Orlando, the obvious option is to just hire a car. However, I'm just wondering if there are any other options such as train or bus ?? I don't suppose someone can say whether these options exist ?? And are they any good ?? And how close to the hotel that I mention are the relevant stations or pick-up points ??
Any help is great and thanks again in advance...

use of travel prepaid cards - visa electron? Posted: Sat April 18, 2009 08:50 AM UTC
I am travelling to florida later in the summer, and travel agents are highlighting the prepaid cash passports - the new alternative to the travellers cheque. These cards are visa electron cards and i have been told this is different to the plain old visa card. The visa electron is a pre paid card loaded with your travel money, and this is debitted as you pay. Unlike a visa card that is a credit card. Could anyone out there tell me how widely the visa electroncard could be used in florida and especially around the disney area?

Good food, Special Mexican, Thai Food ad Fusion. Posted: Wed April 15, 2009 03:19 PM UTC
We go to Orlando, for the kids to have fun. We are Belgians and enjoy fine food.
In San Francisco we loved the fusion kitchen restaurants, are there tables like that around Orlando.
I was in Daytona, years ago. We ate Mexican at a very big, but refined place, It was if my memory serves me well, not far from the race-track. The good thing about it, that is was not the Taco-burrito joint, but they served really special things, like special seafood. It was a very popular place at the time, don't know if it still excist and if there is a similar place in Orlando!
Our favourite cuisine is Thaî. i go every year to Thailand to eat the royal kitchen food. Some really good Thai's you can recommend? We are a bit West of Disney....

Orlando w/o a Car, and Entertainment for Twenty-Somethings Posted: Wed April 8, 2009 01:45 AM UTC
Hello,
I will be heading to Orlando the last week of May with 5 other friends, ages 21-22. We're staying at the Summer Bay Resort which is very close to Disney and offers free shuttles. We are a little bit concerned about other sites though, such as golf courses and nightlife which may not be as accessible without a car. Cars are an extra $25 / day if you aren't 25!
Does Orlando have affordable cabs that will be available on short notice? Or a good bus system? We figured splitting cabs 5 ways wouldn't be so bad, but we are also aware that 5 people don't fit in regular cabs. Will calling cabs slow us down significantly?
Also, although we will go to a Disney park or two, we would also like to incorporate some drinks and nightlife into our vacation without offending the families. We aren't the clubbing type, but like to go out and have a good time. What kind of entertainment would you suggest, preferably somewhat near the Disney area?
Thanks!

AQUATICA Posted: Sat April 4, 2009 06:05 PM UTC
Can anybody tell me how Aquatica compares to the Disney water parks? I have been to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. I'm wondering if my kids aged 11,8 and 6 will have a good time at Aquatica or if we should revisit the Disney water parks which we enjoyed last year.

DISNEY CHARACTER BREAKFAST/LUNCH Posted: Sat April 4, 2009 05:55 PM UTC
I want to make a reservation for a character breakfast and lunch for my trip to Disneyworld in May. I wondered if anybody could recommend a breakfast/lunch. I have two boys aged 6 and 8 and an 11 year old girl. We are not too bothered about which characters we dine with (obviously nothing too girly). If you have had a good experience somewhere, I would be grateful for your comments. We are vegetarian but I guess Disney will cater for this. Many thanks...

So many parks, so little time Posted: Thu April 2, 2009 09:38 AM UTC
Hi all, I'm hoping you guys can help me to narrow down my options a bit. My wife and I will be visiting Orlando in May and as two kids who's barely grown up, Disney World is of course top of our todo list.
But then there are so many other parks that we'd love to see and we will only have five days to spend in the Orlando area. After consulting many travel guides and soliciting personal recommendations, we've identified these 6 parks as the ones we'd definitely like to visit:
Magic Kingdom
Animal Kingdom
Epcot
MGM Studios
Kennedy Space Center
Sea World
Problem is, that is one more park that we have days. So I was thinking we could visit two of these parks for only half a day and so squeeze 6 parks into 5 days. Would anyone care to suggest which of these two parks would be best visited in half a day and which we definitely don't want to spend less than a full day at?
Also, are there any other parks that you feel one should not miss out on? Just remember that with every new park recommendation our choices gets tougher ;-) Aaah well, I guess those are nice problems to have.
Thanks in advance.

Space shuttle launch Posted: Thu April 2, 2009 07:41 AM UTC
I am staying at the Sheraton Vistana the week of May 12 and hope to catch either of the launches on May 12 or May. 15. Now, I received an email from KSC saying the launch transportation tickets and some of the launch viewing tickets have already been sold out. How do I book the tickets for viewing the launch from the visitor complex. How do I get from the resort to the complex? (I decided not to rent a car after reading that traffic can be quite horrible especially on the day of the launch.) Has anyone does this before. It is a bit of a scramble right now, since the mail says the tickets go on sale on Apr 3 morning.
Please help me out.
Thanks a ton.

looking to worship while on vacation this year Posted: Wed April 1, 2009 05:44 PM UTC
Hi, we are from Pennsylvania and we never went to any kind of church or worship services on our previous Florida vacations but want to this year. Does anyone have websites of churches on the lower side of Orlando or the Kissammee area. We are staying at Sunset Lakes community off 192 near the Disney parks. About 12 years ago I was visiting my nephew while I was at a training conference and he took me to a sort of Shopping Mall, theater where they had a full rock band and worship music. I am sort of looking for that type of thing, relaxed, visitor friendly, not too charasmatic, just a good sermon and worship opportunity.
