| Orlando | Layover at MCO Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 04:56 PM UTC
My parents have a 6 hour layover in Orlando (flying from Puerto Rico to Austin). Any ideas about what to do? Is it possible in that amount of time to leave and visit anything in the area. They've done Disney many times, so that's not a necessity -- any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks, Carol

| Orlando | Vantage Point to Watch Space Shuttle Take-Off Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 01:27 PM UTC
Hi All,
We will be in Orlando, Florida for a convention the weekend of May 30-31st. The convention agenda ends at 5 PM and the Space Shuttle is due to take off at 5:02 PM on May 31st. We must stay at the convention until close to the end so unfortunately we will not be able to get to Kennedy Space Center in time to watch the take-off or book a Gray Line tour to the launch pad. We realize that we will be able to see the shuttle after take off but are wondering if anyone knows special places in Orlando which provide a decent vantage point for watching take-off or at least a somewhat unobstructed view of the shuttle and or launch? We will be at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and Convertion Center and could possibly take an hour or so go to a specific place within reasonable driving and time distance from the convention. We realize that Orlando is some distance from the Space Center but we welcome all suggestions. We know Florida is flat so perhaps there is a tall building with access for launches? What bad luck to be busy in Florida on the day when the shuttle is scheduled to take-off! We've dreamed of seing a take-off for all of our lives! As always, thanks for your help! Andrea |

| Orlando | Motobility Scooters Posted: Sat May 3, 2008 02:03 PM UTC
Hi everyone, we have just picked a late booking to fly next Saturday (eek!) so not much time to research this one. It is 4 years since our last visit and my Mum is now not as mobile as she was since breaking a hip so at home in the UK she uses a small electric scooter to get about while shopping etc. She can walk short distances but we need to make life as easy as possible for her to last the pace. It sounds like we can take her scooter with us if necessary but have been thinking it may be easier to hire one over there.
Where would we get one? Would a 7 seater mini van be spacy enough to load it to cart around? Any help would be gratefully received. KQ |

| Orlando | october trip crowd concern Posted: Thu May 1, 2008 02:04 PM UTC
Hi,
I am looking for some input about a Wed-Wed trip to Orlando including Columbus day weekend. I am told Florida doesn't have Columbus Day off. We are taking the kids out of school for this trip and I would hate to get down there and have it be crowded, which is what we are trying to avoid. We have previously stuck to vacation weeks, but are so frustrated with the crowds at Disney! We are planning to spend only 1 day at Magic Kingdom and the rest at Universal and Seaworld parks. Thanks for your help! Jennifer |

| Orlando | Orlando for Older Adults Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 01:39 PM UTC
My husband and I (mid 60's and mid 50's) will be visiting Orlando for a week at the end of April. We have been to Disney World in recent years with grandchildren and this will be our first visit as "adults only". Can anyone make suggestions for activities at Disney that we might especially enjoy? We have made reservations to see Cirque de Soleil and would appreciate any other suggestions you might have for the area. We are moderately active adults and also appreciate chilling by the pool. Thanks for any advice.

| Orlando | some advice please Posted: Wed March 26, 2008 07:28 AM UTC
HI Hope you can help:
1) What are the crowds and weather like last two weeks in May; there arent any major US holidays that will impact the crowds is there? 2) Planning to stay first week in Disney Animal Lodge)but looking to stay on I-Drive 2nd week to be closer to Universal and outlets Last time we went, we stayed at Holiday Inn, and whilst location was good hotel was not up to scratch, so need advice on a decent hotel on that side of Idrive that is accessible on public transport/shuttles as we will not be driving. 3) If we decided to spend 2nd week at the beach, would you recommend this on Gulf coast or Atlantic coast - looking for good beach, and good shopping (which hotel please of at least 4 stars) 4)Do you get to see any animals at Animal Lodge ? Is it worth the price ? 5) For UK residents - better to book a year in advance or 4 weeks ? Thanks for all your help |

| Orlando | Get from Orlando to Melbourne Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 05:45 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I are planning on flying into Orlando to get to Melbourne at the end of May. We are having trouble figuring out how to get from Orlando to Melbourne though. We were going to rent a car, but we are only 20 and most places do not allow it. Are there any other suggestions, or does anyone know of another car rental place that allows 20 years old to rent?
Thanks in advance. |

| Orlando | Orlando Park Tickets Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 09:38 AM UTC
Hi, We (myself, my wife and 10 y.o. daughter) are traveling to Orlando for a 5 days in May 1st week. We wish to explore the best of the theme parks As 5 days is too short a time to cover all the attractions in Orlando and want to know which parks we should not miss. If any one can give me an idea of budgeting and pricing of tickets it would be great.

| Orlando | Suggestions for our trip? Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 06:58 PM UTC
Hi there, does does anyone have any suggestiosn ona good plan fora two week holiday in Orlando?
We have been several times before but many years ago, now our youngest daughter is 8 it's time to visit again, we have two older daughter of 13 & 17 both have been before. Last time we foudn it best if we went to the parks early then left early afternoon to go to the water park then in the eve go to see the fireworks at Epcot, we loved to do somthing like this again. But also take in other parks and the new water ppark thats just opening (forgot the name) We have hired a villa in Kissamee with a pool so we don't have to do a park each day , it's far too tiring! so unsure what passes might be best to go for, it seems a bit of a rip off now, having to buy lots of days to get a fair deal. If anyones done a two week holiday or got some good plans on how to do it I'd really appreciate some idea's. Thanks again |

| Orlando | Visa for a 16 year old Posted: Sun March 2, 2008 04:50 PM UTC
My son has recently been arrested, not yet been charged but has admitted being involved in an incident where someone was assaulted - wrong place wrong time not with his usual group of friends, although I'm not condoning - I'm gutted. First offence - never even been in trouble at school. Our holiday was booked last Sept for beginning of July this Year . Just waiting for his new passport to come back and we can go ahead and make the appt which they have told us will be April/May. He needs a form from the Association of Police Officers (that replaces the old subject access form)and the staff at that office were very helpful. The local police see no reason why he can't travel as if charged he may not have even gone to court by the time of the holiday.Does anyone have any further advice of other supporting documents which may help his case, seening as he will not have been convicted and the charges(if charged) may change. I know this may seem like hes being rewarded but he has actually helped pay a large sum of moneyfor this holiday and at the moment hes not been charged and I have other family memebers to consider..Any advice would be extremely grateful.Thanks.
