Miami Beach staying 5115 Collins Av and going (without) car to South Beach
Posted: Sun October 11, 2009 09:58 AM UTC
Dear Miami forum,

Our family will rent this summer a condo in Miami Beach.
My 18 years old daugther and her boyfriend will visit by themselves the bars in South Beach.
But I saw by google earth that is not nearly. We have a rental car but the youth have no driving licences. So they can go by bus perhaps one way.
1) But how do the get back to the condo in de late evening and early night?
2) Is it possible to walk te whole long bordwalk from SoBe to 5115 Collins Av?
3) What are the taxi prices and are there taxi´s enough?
4) Is is safe for them to travel so late to 5115 Collins Av?
5) Can they visit bars and disco´s with a 18 years old age?

I am looking forward to hearing your answers.

Miami Beach Can 19 year old girls get into ANY clubs/bars/lounges in South Beach at all?
Posted: Wed August 12, 2009 07:48 PM UTC
I'm a 43 year old woman going to South Beach for a week with her 19 year old daughter and her best friend. I'm afraid we won't be able to enjoy the nightlife as we are told they need to be 21 to get in clubs. They were also told not to even bother with IDs that are not legit cause they will tear them up at the door. Any one have any advice?

Thanks!

Posted: Thu July 16, 2009 11:28 AM UTC
Hi all,

Is anyone able to tell me (approx) how much a taxi from Miami airport to South Beach (start of Lincoln Road Mall/Washington Ave)

I am wondering if it will be cheaper to organise before I fly out or just to jump in a taxi when I get there, there will only be 2 of us and cost of transfer £12.

Thanks, M

Hi there
Me and my fiance are looking at getting married in Miami Beach. We have looked at a few hotels and really like the look of this hotel.
Has anyone got married there who could share some experiences with us?
Some photos would be great too.
Did you get married on the beach or in the hotel grounds?
Also how far is south beach from Miami beach?
We have never been before so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,

I kinda decided late and am planning to spend the new years at south beach Miami along 2 other folks(3-4 days). But looking at the hotels they seem really expensive.
Is it a good option to stay at arnd 4-5 miles away from south beach and travel by taxi? can we get taxis in Miami at all times(late night early morning)?
Also which pubs/bars/clubs are best for new years'eve party?

Miami Beach Vacation on Thanksgiving
Posted: Mon November 24, 2008 05:54 PM UTC
Hey Community,

i have been living in Michigan for 1 year now as I moved over from Germany.
I just booked a flight to Miami for Thanksgiving (Thu til Mon) with another german buddy.

Unfortunately we do not know that area very well so i am hoping to get some advice in this forum.

First of all. Here is a short description of what we are into:
We are both 21 and 25 years old and are a lot into rather "extreme" sports like kite boarding, paragliding or jetsking.
Furthermore we love hanging out in great clubs and bars.
We prefer clubs that a lot of openminded people use to go to as we would love to meet people.

We dont have a hotel for the nights.. only a car. So we are pretty independent and can drive wherever we want to.

Therefore my question is:

1. What places do you advice to have a look at?
2. What great sport possibilities does Miami (or Florida) offer?
3. What are the best clubs / bars / etc. to meet new people

Thank you very much,
Kevin

Miami Beach Places to stay...on the beach
Posted: Wed July 30, 2008 08:20 AM UTC
Hello,

I am originally from Miami but moved to Denmark 4 years ago. My husband and I are planning to vacation on the beach next summer and we are looking for places to stay under $100. We are not picky and are not looking for stylish design just cleanliness, air conditioning, and as close to the beach as you can get, I mean if you open the door and there is sand that would be perfection =).

We are thinking of an extended stay about 2 or 3 weeks.

I remember there were places one could rent on a weekly basis but I never wrote the information down, never thought I would need it. (LOL)

Does anyone have any suggestions...

Thanks a bunch!

Miami Beach Which area to stay
Posted: Mon July 28, 2008 06:54 PM UTC
Hi Guys.

We're coming to Miami in two weeks and haven't decided where to stay.

We'd like to stay at the beach but need some advice about which part.
We like shopping (not designer pennies don't stretch that far) and stroll in the evening , like takeaways and eating in (so good supermarket). We will have a car.
Kids (aged 17 and 11) would like to try their hand at surfing and probably both the big kids too!
Hope you can help

Miami Beach Interesting or Unique Lodging in Miami/Miami Beach areas
Posted: Wed July 23, 2008 05:20 AM UTC
Hey all,
Don't laugh... but I don't swim, and as a redhead, I avoid the sun - so a pool or beach isn't a priority. Need 2 nights lodging 12/25-27, and would appreciate any suggestions for lodging. B&B might work - more concerned with it being quiet, and with a nice loungy roof garden or terrace or balcony/view - than a pool. Near good food, interesting walks (love architecture, history, gardens)
Tips?
Thanks,
DJ Starr

Miami Beach Is Miami Beach a good place to visit Xmas Time?
Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 01:28 PM UTC
Hello
I have never been to America before and am thinking about going to Miami Beach just after Xmas day for about 8 days, so over the New Year too. Is this a good time of year to visit, for weather and things to do? Been looking at hotels online and loads are fully booked for the times I am thinking of, so does it get very busy end of year?

I am looking at relaxing abit , around the hotel etc, and seeing Miami and then hopefully going abit further on a couple of days, Everglades, Key Largo and Space Centre etc. Are these sort of trips easy to book at the hotel, do you need to book in advance or just when on holiday?

Would the weather be warm enough to use the beach, pool etc? Any suggestions on nice places to stay, area etc would be great, budget of about £100( couple) a night for hotel, so not cheap, or not expensive, mid range.

Thanks in advance for your replies

Rachel.

I am traveling to Miami with my teenage daughter...it is a brief mother-daughter trip. Is it safe or unsafe to stay in South Beach? What hotels, preferably with pool, would you recommend. We're hoping to stay in the low $100s.
