Miami Parking Near the Westin Colonnade in Coral Gables
Posted: Thu January 1, 2009 06:49 PM UTC
Does anyone have advice about safe, yet (relatively) inexpensive parking near the Westin off Miracle Mile in Coral Gables? We got a great deal on the hotel via hotwire but the parking situation sounds awful. When I called the hotel, I was informed that the garages they use don't offer in-and-out privileges. Ouch!

Miami 7 hr layover @ MIA - 12-7am - suggestions?
Posted: Fri December 19, 2008 05:59 AM UTC
I have a 7hr layover each way from around midnight to 7am. I don't want the expense of a room for 4-5hrs. Any safe suggestions for a female traveler at MIA during this timeframe? (for resting, reading, eating, etc) Thanks for your time and input!

Miami Tri Rail from Miami to Hollywood
Posted: Thu December 18, 2008 03:18 PM UTC
Hi everyone!

We are planning on taking the Tri-Rail from Miami to Hollywood for a concert. Does the Tri-Rail only pick up from the Miami Airport (MIA)? Also, once in Hollywood, is it easy to catch a cab from the Tri-Rail station to the concert venue (and back)?

If this doesn't work, we might just rent a car & pay for parking(even though we want to drink at the concert).

Any other tips? Cheers!

Miami going to miami for carnival w/ 1yr old baby
Posted: Mon September 8, 2008 02:06 PM UTC
Hello!

We're planning on going to Miami in march for our wedding anniversary. Hopefully, we'll be there for the carnival but can anyone give me names of places where if it's possible to go/dance and enjoy the music/atmosphere with a child. My question is more related to the separation that there sometimes has to be in the states between the drinking areas and the rest...

If not, do you know family places were we could go to enjoy a nice latin atmosphere and possibly dance? my husband is from venezuela and our son loves salsa :)

Thank you for your answers :)

Miami First time to Miami- few questions.
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 09:04 PM UTC
Hi all,

This will be my first time traveling to Miami, fl. I am looking for idea's for a good hotel to stay at for me and my girlfiend for our first holiday trip together. One concern I have is the noise level. I love to party but I also love to sleep. I want to be close to the action so im thinking of staying on ocean dr or colony so I can walk to the beach or resturants.

Low cost around mid $500's-600s a person booking through expedia fight and hotel from Aug 29th-Sept 2nd.

I have seen these rates for Colony Hotel and Beacon. Both look great from what I can see and our rated decently. Any comments.

Thanks!!!!

Miami miami airport passport security
Posted: Sun June 29, 2008 03:52 PM UTC
We landed from Europe and arriving home thought it would be easy to enter our country since we have lived here our entire lives. Not so fast. Passport lines were the slowest we have ever experienced and it took over an hour to get through passport and by the time we got to our luggage our bags were pulled off the belt with many others and just left sitting on the floor. The it took another 15 minutes to exit.
What is going on. Please don,t tell us the obvious about tight US security. We are not visitors or strangers arriving.
Example we landed in Rome with 45 minutes to clear passport control and go thought security with our carry ons and still made the connecting flight.
Is this something new or is the system just broken in our great country?
It certainly ruins a long trip-We are all for security but not when dealing with citizens returning as all they have to do is verify it is us..
My daughter and 10 year old had a similar experience in Atlanta where they had a two hour connection time and called from the plane as they barely made it after passport control and re-checking bags-
Any thoughts as to why???

Miami August Vacation
Posted: Tue June 17, 2008 07:39 PM UTC
Brit family looking to visit Miami in Aug for a week with family (girls 17 and 11). Would appreciate some advice on the following.

Q1. Am I being uterly stupid about spending days at the beach. (heat wise)

Q2. Likely to ditch hire car as soon as we come into Miami from the Keys, as I'm thinking it would less hassle to taxi it around. Probably only need 1 day retail therapy and 1 day on a bus tour.

Many Thanks in advance
