When we were in Cuba we chartered a fishing boat. We were not serious about fishing we just wanted to go and give it a try, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves we did catch some fish which was a real treat and good fun. We also sunbathed, had plenty to drink and did some snorkelling, then the guy's that took us out on the charter caught us a lobster each and cooked it for our lunch it was fabulous.

Where would you recommend us going to book this kind of charter. We are quite happy to go with other people.

Hello Folks, My fiancée and I would like any information that you may have to offer us. We are staying for a week in Orlando then heading to key west for a further two weeks, we arrive in Key West on the 12th January 2009.

Please could you advise us on what's not to be missed, The must do's & dont's.
We love to meet people and generally have a great outlook on life. We are looking for a hotel with a great reputation,and good location.

If you know of any experiences that should not be missed please do say, we don't mind what we pay as long as it's something that you would never forget.


Would you let us know about and fabulous seafood restaurants also any fun and exciting friendly Bars. Basically any thing that you think we should know and even things to avoid.

Does anyone know where I can find a pick of the keno flip flops?

My hubby's son plays professional baseball..we will be in Tampa for a week...We are driving down to Key West the 17th of July for the night.. He hasn't been there since he was stationed there after Vietnam (69)..yes he's 60 but tons of fun.. I'm a "bit" younger.. We can't wait.. want to make sure I don't step out of the box too much on what we wear.. I really planned on just skirt and tank top over my swimsuit for the evening while checking out Duval.. or Sun dress.. but I'm sure we will be checking out the bars.. what's the best spots for one night there?? I've been checking them all out on line... and should I cover up a bit more???

I am coming with my family to Key West July 6-10. I have run into a slight problem, I will be bring a pull behind trailer with 2 jet ski's. The hotel where I am staying has informed me it will not be possible to park the trailer there. So i have called the city Marina and got a price of 50 a day, which seems a little steep. So I need some Help Please! What I am looking for is a place I can dry dock the trailer and possibly leave the jet-skis in the water at a reasonable price. Another option is like a storall place that has rv and boat parking.I also don't know the keys well enough to determine if there is a town 4 or 5 miles north of the keys that I can put there and then go get every morning . ANY suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, Rene

I have been coming to the keys for about 5 years now. I have seen all the hot spots. I'm looking for where the locals hang out. The hidden hot spots. I will be down on 7/10/08 Any help would be great.

We are coming down to Key Colony Beach for a week (June 28-July 5) and are interested in finding blues music in Key West or anyplace near by. Any suggestions? Or recommendations for places to hear other kinds of music? Also any restaurant recommendations in Marathon or Key Colony Beach?

I have a friend that was in Key West, he went to a bar name "FLying Monkey" , I would like (if possible) get him a shirt the has "Got Monkey" on it. Is it possible to order one?

Has anyone used the public bus system in Key West? Anytime I inquire about transportation the only thing that comes up is renting a car or taxis. I know there is a bus line though.
Also where can I find a big grocery store?

We will be driving to KW second week Oct staying 8 days :) I'd like some information about mile marker stops along the way. I once found a list of some very interesting tips and saved it on my computer only to have the darn thing crash and all was lost :( If anyone has any good tips for good side trips or just quick stops along the way (and back), best times to travel, etc., I'd really appreciate it. (p.s I am aware of the strict speed limit enforcement.)

My husband and I and another couple would like to rent a house in Key West In February. We would like it to have a pool and/or hot tub. We would also like it to be within walking distance of Duvall Street. Does any body have any info?

I was shopping on Duval Street last Friday (4/19). There was a small art gallery that also sold beach glass jewelry. In the window was a pearl necklace with a small silver star fish in the middle of the pearls. I can't stop thinking about the necklace and would love to call the store to inquire about it, but I don't recall the name of the store. Came across this site while looking for info on Key West. We will be leaving in May, flying into Ft Lauderdale, renting a convertible and staying at Courtney's place II.
Just wanted to say thanks for all those who post. Answered most of my questions just by reading old posts.
When we get back I'll be sure to post any likes or dislikes.

I'm planning to stay in Key West for most of June. I can't find anyone interested in tagging along, and frankly, I think that is kind of exciting.

My question:
Are there any things I should know about vacationing alone, or about Key West in general? This will be my first time seeing the ocean. Hopefully that gives you an idea about how unweathered I am.

Hi Everyone, I have never been to Key West, and will be in Palm Beach area in May and will be driving down to Key West for one day/night. I want to stay near the "action" -- Mallory Square, Sloppy Joe's, all those famous places. Can someone please recommend a place to stay for myself and my husband for one night only where we do not have to walk a ways. Also, I cannot pay $400 a night, so someplace a little more reasonable please. It can be a Bed & Breakfast or hotel, I don't care. I just want to soak up the atmosphere of Key West. Thanks a lot,

Does anyone know if there are any Lockers at the Key West airport? I'm going there and i have too much luggage (shopping from Miami) and this information will be very important for my travel plans. If not at the airport i'd like to know wherelse i could find in Key West.

is-it possible to travel from Key West to Fort Myers by ferry with my motocycle on bord?

Has anyone ever stayed at Margarita Villas? Quiet/Noisy? How many units? Impression? If you rent for the week through keystravel.com (in Albuquerque) and you have problems, who do you call? We are a party of 4 mature adults that need 1 queen, two twins, and a sofa sleeper (minimum) for the week of 4 to 5 days, 3/10-3/15. Any suggestions? Thanks!

ummm.. I know this is kinda strange but....hubby found out that there have been 2 diving deaths in the Florida keys. I am the one who wants to dive but hubby is a concerned about this since the deaths have been reported. Can anyone tell me the location? or the name of the diving boats these people went on? And anything new on the investigation on the diving equipment?
It would be my 1st time diving. I was expecting to take a resort diving course. Wondering how safe.
I do understand that 2 diving deaths in all the excursions is probably like shark attacks (few and far between) but this prompts me to do more research.

I purchased this fused glass tile about 2 years ago in Key West, Florida, and would like to obtain more. I've since lost the card with the artist's name and the name of the gallery she worked out of (she was a young woman in her 20s/30s). I believe the word "cat" may have been part of the gallery's name.

The gallery was on a corner, near to a frozen key lime pie shop, and perhaps a couple of street away from a marina.

I've researched galleries in Key West on the internet but can't find anything.

If you can help, I'd appreciate it.

Please help me! A few months ago was down in Key West on Duval Street and my girlfriend and I did some shopping. The only piece of Jewelry shes ever seen and liked during the tenure of our relationship was in this one shop on Duval. As I recall, it was located on the "East" side of the road, probably somewhere near the middle. It was fairly upscale, and pretty nice inside. I remember seeing mostly women's clothes displays in the area in front on the door. The feel was a lot more trendy and designer feeling than most of the shops in that area. It wasn't just jewelery that they sold, in fact as I recall the only case that I saw was in the middle of the store. The space was pretty open, I think the store was open on both sides of the doorway and there may have been a slight ramp, or hand railing on the right. As I recall it was probably mostly womens clothes. If you have any ideas please... please help. I know its a long shot, nut I really need to get this ring for xmas and I cant find the time to make the 5 hour drive anytime soon. If you could give me a store name maybe I can make a call and hook this up! THANKS!! Corey

So, not sure anyone will read this in time to respond...but we are staying in a residential neighborhood I believe its called old town...pretty old houses at least...we are on reynolds st. Curious if there are any small local places to eat in the local area here...I know duval is where the action is but we are looking for a few close places for breakfast (or one good one) and someplace laid back for dinner tonight...any ideas?

Considering spending the week between Christmas Day and New Years Eve in Key West with wife and two teen boys. Does the town operate as normal, or are some amenities and activities limited or closed down?

I will be driving from Miami to Key West in the afternoon (3pm) of 21st November. Should I be expecting bad traffic? I am guessing 4 hours for a straight drive there. Does that sound about right?
I am only there for a couple of days before heading back up the keys to Islamorada. Any Thanksgiving tips? I hope places are still open.
