Ramona Blvd. Posted: Tue November 3, 2009 03:39 AM UTC
My husband and I will be visiting Florida and we are thinking of staying at the new Sleep Inn and Suites on Ramona Blvd. one night and going to the Market Place Flea Market on Ramona Blvd. Could you please tell me if this is a safe area? Or is the Comfort Inn on Airport Road in a safer area? Thank you so much for your input.

Whale Watching Charter Boats Posted: Wed August 19, 2009 01:49 AM UTC
I work w/ au pairs (young adults who come from different countries to live w/ a family and take care of the children) and would like to know if anyone knows of a place to charter a boat to go out and see the whales? My group is relatively small as is the amount of money we can afford, but these girls are very interested in doing this and I would hate to disappoint.

Beach front hotel or appartment? Posted: Thu March 12, 2009 12:50 PM UTC
Hi - I travel to Jacksonville regularly and love the place. Next time I would like to bring my wife and stay on for a few days as a vacation. I would love to stay out at one of the beach, ideally in a place overlooking the beach or backing on to it. However don't think I can afford some of the prices I have seen.
Anyone know of anywhere, can be 30 miles north or south of Jacksonville as well, where you can stay out at the beach?
Thanks in advance

Are there ANY good local restauranst here? Posted: Sun February 8, 2009 12:08 AM UTC
Ok, VTers. I've got a challenge for you. I've lived in New York City and Chicago, I've traveled through Europe, Asia and the US. Everywhere I go, I eventually sniff out great local food. Whether it's satay from the street carts in Bangkok or sweetbreads from Rathbuns in Atlanta, I eat it all. Sadly I have recently found myself in a swirling blackhole of TGI-Mc-Chilis; Jacksonville, Florida, USA. Can someone, ANYONE, please point me in the direction of a decent local restaurant in this town? I don't care if it's five star fine dining or a seafood shack that looks like it's about to tumble into the intercoastal or a backwoods smokehouse pumping out bar-b-qued opossum. Oysters, sushi, carpaccio, fish tacos, burgers? There must be a must-have here. There must. Isn't there one everywhere?

Are Jacksonville/Amelia Island beaches good for kids (low tide possibilities)/Good cheap digs? Posted: Thu January 15, 2009 06:55 PM UTC
Hello!
Three questions, really:
1) Are the beaches at Amelia Island as good as those of Sanibel Island, neither of which we've visited, in terms of having water which is low, warm, good for kids?
2) Any great, inexpensive places to stay that you know about? e.g., 100/night?
3) How long does it take to get to Amelia Island from Jacksonville Airport, and do we need to rent a car?
Thanks for your help!
All best,
Ella

Drop off and pick up for Gator Bowl Posted: Wed December 31, 2008 01:17 AM UTC
I would like to know if anyone has a recommendation for travel to and from the Gator Bowl from the Wingate by Wyndam Jacksonville at Lenoir Drive. We have 7 in our party, and since there is no parking available for cars, and we fear that the shuttle will be a nightmare, we need some advice for econimical travel while we are in Jacksonville.
Thank you very much

How to get to Jaguars Game Posted: Sun November 16, 2008 06:09 AM UTC
I will be on holiday in Florida in December and can anyone tell me how long should I allow to get from Orlando To Jacksonville Stadium to see the Colts game on December 18th. I will be driving a hire car and have heard that it is best to park & take a shuttle bus to the stadium rather than drive all the way in. Is this the best option?

One day in jax Posted: Fri October 12, 2007 12:54 AM UTC
Hi everyone, we are coming to Daytona from the UK for 2 weeks in January, but are visiting Jacksonville for the Rugby league match arranged by Russell Crowe between south sidney rabbitohs and leeds rhinos to be played at UNF. Can you tell us where to stay for the night, somewhere there is a few decent bars nearby, not too expensive, and how far from the beach area is UNF?

Weather and humidity Posted: Sat April 28, 2007 04:41 AM UTC
Hi there... my family and I have recently moved from Tennessee to Alaska.
Being from Tennessee- we are quite familiar with humidity. We have travelled to Destin and Pensacola before. We are trying to decide the best time to come and visit Jacksonville to where we do not have to worry about the humidity. We may even be relocating to Jacksonville permanently. We do not want to move somewhere that is as humid as nashville was. And we are thinking with Jacksonville being so close to the beach- well, we hope that the humidity is better. Alaska is nice- but very far from family and everything else. lol
Any insight would be welcome.
Thanks...
Adam and Jen

Looking for a house! Posted: Thu March 8, 2007 04:51 AM UTC
Hello fellow VT'ers!
My husband is in the navy and we are relocating soon to Mayport. We were thinking of buying a house in the zip area of 32225 and were wondering if anyone has any comments about that area and/or any other suggestions or good neighbourhoods. We have read some of the other forum comments but are having difficulty putting the name of the neighbourhood to the area! If anyone has the name of a reputable real estate agent, we would appreciate it!
Thanks!
