Yachts Tours Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 08:31 PM UTC
My mother and I are planning a trip to Fort Lauderdale and I was hoping to spend most of the time on a yacht. Does anybody know of ppl who rent out their yacht when they go on vacation or give overnight yacht tours with diving? Something to this effect?

Accomodation and Transportation Posted: Sun February 24, 2008 11:50 AM UTC
Hi all,
My wife and myself are going for a cruise in April that will depart from the following location:
Port Everglades, S.E. 10th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301
I would like to ask whether there are any inexpensive hotels available in this area and how easy it is to gain access to them, being from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the location above.
Regards,
George.

Transportation from Ft. Lauderdale hotel to port in Miama for 14 people Posted: Fri February 1, 2008 10:38 PM UTC
We're taking our two kids, their spouses and children on a cruise over Spring break. We arrive in Ft. Lauderdale the night before our cruise that goes out of Miama. Transfers for 14 people add up to $784. There has got to be a better way to get to the boat and them back to the airport afterwards. Any suggestions???

Beachfront condo/apartment in Fort Lauderdale Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 01:34 AM UTC
We have stayed in either Lauderdale By The Sea (at Paradise By The Sea -- not good) or at Ocean Manor (private condos vary, but they need work) the last few years with our family. We have to go at Christmastime because of family members' schedules. We used to go on spring break to Panama City Florida, where they had clean and comfortable condos right on the beach with lovely balconies. They were much more reasonably priced than the places we've stayed in Fort Lauderdale. What's the deal? We love the Fort Lauderdale area and want to return, however, after spending hours online looking for a place to stay, I've not found much in our price range. High Noon looks nice, but they're already booked for Christmas 2009. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Visiting Posted: Mon January 7, 2008 02:36 AM UTC
My parents are going on a cruise from Ft. Lauderdale in March. They are flying in 2 days early and wondering if there is anything for them to do before leaving on the cruise. They do not like to lay on the beach and are in their early sixties so I am looking for some attractions that might be of interest to them. They also love to eat out. Thank you for any help you can offer me.

PLEASE RECOMMEND A FURNISHED RENTAL FOR 3-4 MONTHS BEGINNING MID DEC OR EARLY JAN. 2008 Posted: Sun November 18, 2007 03:03 PM UTC
My husband and I are looking for a safe, quiet and secure furnished apartment or home to stay in while our permanent resident visa is processed in Miami. It will take at least 3-4 months for the French consulate to complete.
If possible, beginning from December 18th, 2007 for three weeks our family member, Tom, will be flying with us to Miami, but he must return to work in Paris.
We absolutely need a fast wireless internet connection, phone, washer-dryer, a kitchen.
If possible, I would like access to public transportation and not be very far from the Fort Lauderdale
Bridge Club located at 700 NE 6th Terrace, Fort Lauderdale where I hope to play bridge every afternoon.
If you know a good IYENGAR yoga teacher, personal trainer, hair stylist, please let me know.
Merci!

Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach area over thanksgiving Posted: Tue October 23, 2007 11:56 PM UTC
I'm hoping to visit the Ft. Lauderdale area over the Thanksgiving break. Other than the beach, are there fun things to do in this city and the West Palm Beach area as well. I've already seen Miami so I'm not planning on going south from Ft. Lauderdale. I'm pretty much interested in everything!

Any suggestions as to what's the best way to get from Ft. Lauderdale to a hotel in Miami Beach? Per the website it says it's 20 mins. away.

Help me fill in the blanks! Posted: Mon September 10, 2007 06:52 PM UTC
We are going to be coming off a cruise in Miami on Oct.5 and hopefully renting a car right from the port. We will be driving to Ft. Laud. around noon, and seeing a show @ the Broward Center @ 8pm.
Anything else we should really see or do in the afternoon(we like touristy stuff)?
We need to pick a hotel, nothing too fancy. Either by the show or the airport as we will be leaving the next morning.
Any help would be great!
Thanks

Shopping & Motel Posted: Tue August 21, 2007 09:21 PM UTC
We will be coming to Fort L. in January to get on a cruise ship. Since we live in Mexico we would like to be able to do some shopping in the US after the cruise. We would like to find a inexpensive motel near a shopping center,Wal-Mart,Sam's, Costco or other large stores or shopping centers. We think that we would be better finding a motel near shopping places and just catch a taxi to the dock rather than finding a place close to the dock. We would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks Jerry & Susan

Fort Lauderdale Posted: Wed July 18, 2007 05:46 AM UTC
My husband and I will be traveling to Fort Lauderdale during the month of August. We are not interested in beach but do not mind being in the area. Actually we are looking for hotels close to the Olas and the beach broadwalk. We actually enjoy eating out, dancing, and site seeing. We are aldo going to spend a few days in Miami. We will appreciate recomendations for moderately priced hotels, restuarants, and what to do and see in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks!!

Ft. Meyers Airport to Ft. Lauderdale Airport (cruise port) Posted: Thu May 31, 2007 02:37 AM UTC
We're going on a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale (in Dec.) but it looks like our plane tickets will land us in Ft. Meyers (140 mile away) are we better off paying the higher price & land in Ft. Lauderdale or can we get a shuttle from airport to airport? I know we can rent a car but just driving the 140 miles and turning the car back in seems like a waste of time. What's your thoughts on this? The cruise port is 2 miles from Ft. Lauderdale airport. This is our first cruise. Holly

Time to Arrive Posted: Fri May 4, 2007 01:00 PM UTC
What is a realistic time to get to the Air & Sea Show in Ft Lauderdale?. I live in Hollywood and was going to leave my house @ 6 am. I will totally panic if there is mad, mad traffic and like to be the first one there. Is this too late or too early. Also, I have my 4 year old with me. So, where is the best place to park so we don't have to walk alot?

Okay, VT says that 502 members live in Ft. Lauderdale.
Anyone headed out to the Air and Sea Show this weekend on the beach or am I the only one flying to Florida to be part of the 3,000,000 non VT members there? ;-)

Ok to dive? Posted: Sun March 11, 2007 10:07 PM UTC
My question is that I know about not to fly after you dive(waiting 18-24 hours), but what if you fly and land at 2pm...Can you dive that day or do you have to wait until the next? A friend flew down to Lauderdale and landed at 2 and is going diving at 4. I need some quick help. I am certified but still new and want to be safe. Please help ASAP!
Thanks...

Doubletree Gallery One Hotel Posted: Wed February 28, 2007 04:04 AM UTC
Has anyone stayed at the Doubletree Gallery One Hotel? It looks like it's right next to the Galleria Mall and the water taxi stops right outside the hotel. It looks like a good central place to stay for one night, and they have a 2 bedroom 2 bath suite which the 4 of us could share for a little over $200 per couple. How far is it from the cruise ship terminal. Should we take a cab to get there? I know as usual, I have so many questions. Any reviews, comments, advice on this hotel and it's location would be much appreciated.
(only 4 more sleeps to cruise --- yeah!)
Cheers,
Carol.
