Looking for a restaurant 24/7 Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 08:22 PM UTC
The first step of our trip in South Florida in December will be in Fort Lauderdale.
Due to the jetlag (6 hours) we know we will be awoke up around 4 or 5 on the morning and hungry. So, I am looking for a restaurant open 24/24 on N Atlantic Blvd or nearby.
The closest Denny's is at 4 miles from the hotel and I wish to find a breakfast which will be closer.
Thanks for the answers.

Help in planning itinerary Posted: Mon June 8, 2009 05:40 PM UTC
Hi there! I know I should be doing my asssignment and research on my trip but this is a last minute decision and I was on the move if not working most of the time so I did not really have much time to plan my itinerary in advance. In fact, I just booked my flight last night and my flight is tomorrow at 10:30 am. So please help...
I'll be flying from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale on June 9 with a return trip on June 23. I am set on going to Orlando on June 12-19. Any suggestions for an itinerary on June 9-12 and June 19-23 in Fort Lauderdale or nearby areas? What are the must sees? I can also use your advice on must sees and must do in Orlando as this is my first time and I will be traveling alone. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!!

Getting to the airport Posted: Thu April 30, 2009 08:17 AM UTC
Hi all,
We will be arriving in Fort Lauderdale either by Amtrak or Greyhound and would then need to get to FLL where we are planning on renting a car.
Would anyone perhaps be able to offer advice on methods of transport (probably local bus service) to get from either the Amtrak terminal (200 SW 21st Terrace, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312) or the Greyhound terminal (515 NE 3rd St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301) to the airport?
Thanks in advance.

Other parking ideas for Hilton Beach Resort Posted: Fri April 10, 2009 04:22 AM UTC
The Ft. Lauderdale Hilton Beach Resort only offers valet parking for $29 per day. That is a bit steep. Does anyone know if there are any lots in walking distance that we could self park our car. We will be visiting for 4 days in May, Thursday thru Monday morning. Thanks for any info.

Hotel shuttle buses at FLL Posted: Thu April 2, 2009 11:29 AM UTC
Hi
My mobile (cell) phone does not work on US networks so could anyone tell me if there are courtesy phones in the airport concourse, from which you can request a pickup by the hotel shuttle buses, or do you have to use the public payphones?
Thanks

Getting from Kissimmee to Fort Lauderdale airport Posted: Fri February 13, 2009 10:48 AM UTC
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone with a bit of local gen can help me on this one. We're planning a trip to Florida and at one point we'd like to get from Kissimmee to Fort Lauderdale Airport.
I've had a look at Greyhound and Amtrak, both of which would get us nicely from Kissimmee to Fort Lauderdale but then we still need to get to the airport. Is there an easy local public transport (bus or something) that we can use? Better yet, wouldn't the Greyhound bus pass through the airport perhaps? I can't seem to find info on this on their webpage.
Alternatively, any other shuttles or busses or what-have-yous that travel between Kissimmee and Fort Lauderdale Airport?
Thanks,
d

cheapest way to get from Lauderdale airport to Harbor Beach Resort Posted: Wed February 11, 2009 06:31 PM UTC
I've heard that it should only be a $15 taxi ride from the Fort Lauderdale airport to the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. Can anyone confirm this or would it be cheaper to take a shuttle from the airport?
Thanks,
Deb

Little Inn by the Sea Posted: Mon February 9, 2009 11:35 PM UTC
Has anyone stayed at this B&B recently? I am finding VERY mixed reviews regarding this property. I have found little here on VT and what I have found is more than 3 years old. The information given on their website makes it look too good to be true.
Thanks

Budget Hotel/Motel near FT. Lauderdale Airport for 1 night Posted: Sat February 7, 2009 05:05 PM UTC
Hi-Flying into FLL 1 night before cruise out of Miami in April. Arriving late ~11pm so won't need anything fancy as we will pretty much just go to sleep/wake up & check out. Any suggestions for something cheap within a short cab ride to the airport would be appreciated. I know the big travel sites like Kayak etc sometimes don't show the local motels. Thanks

Dress Code Posted: Mon October 6, 2008 06:11 PM UTC
While browsing through Ft. Lauderdale nightlife websites I stumbled upon a warning which says that people dressed like gang members, sport club fans and similar will be refused entrance.
Would that apply to a person wearing something like Iron Maiden T-shirt?
Is there an age limit - I want to do some clubbing with my 15 and 17 yrs old daughters - any places you'd recommend? They love 80's disco, house, rock.
Thank you!

Are there any places with similar beach and water characteristics to stay north of Fort Lauderdale? Posted: Thu July 3, 2008 02:25 AM UTC
My family and I used to spend a couple of weeks every June-July in the old Irelands Inn and loved it and Fort Lauderdale. Now I am alone and would just like to go to Fort Lauderdale or to a good beach hotel north of there on the Atlantic Ocean. It would have to be July or August. It seems to me that there must be hundreds of motels or hotels from Jacksonville on down to Fort Lauderdale that would have a nice beach with rooms facing it. Trouble is when I look for something, I can only find very large resort hotels and that is not my preference. I want to find a small place just to hang out for a couple of weeks of peace and to enjoy the beach and swimming in the ocean.
I have tried Internet searching, but not found anything appealing. I am trying to find what everybody wants, I guess, moderately priced (under $200 per day), some sort of kitchen facility for breakfast/lunch, clean, quiet and with a good beach and good view, free parking, free wireless Internet.
I look forward to ideas, or even to posting that say I WON'T find this and, if this is the case, I would like alternative ideas.
Thanks very much, George

One day in Lauderdale Posted: Tue June 17, 2008 01:07 AM UTC
I will be flying back from Europe and arriving at Fort Lauderdale's airpot. I have about a 7 hour layover before flying to dallas and then to denver. I am curious about possibly leaving the airport and doing some quick shopping or grabbing some good food. What would be the closest places to go and would it be accessible by the Tri Rail? Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks

Ocean Manor Rooms Posted: Fri June 13, 2008 06:43 PM UTC
I am staying at the Ocean Manor Resort in July. We booked our room through a travel agent and not through a private owner. I have heard everyone say that you must book through a private owner. Is this true?

Things to do...any suggestions? Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 06:48 AM UTC
Hello,
I'll be traveling to Southeast Florida in August and am looking for advice on things to do both touristy and non-touristy. Is there anything you recommend that I wouldn't normally know about or should try?
I've already planned:
Orlando - Theme Parks
Fort Lauderdale - Deep Sea Fishing
Everglades - Airboat Tour
I'll have a car and I don't mind driving.
Thanks a lot!

Is anyone going on Vacation this month? Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 09:51 PM UTC
My parents recently planned a last min. trip to Ft. Lauderdale for next week. Since it was a last min thing, I couldn't find any friends that were able to go. I don't mind hanging out with my parents, and I'm pretty close to them, but at the same time, I'm 18 years old, and I want to have some fun! So I was wondering if there are any other 18-20 year olds that are going on vacation next week to Ft. Lauderdale??

Vacation Village Bonaventure Weston, Ft Lauderdale Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 02:14 AM UTC
My wife & I (50 yr olds)will be staying at the Vacation Village Bonaventure Weston, Ft Lauderdale between 28 June and 1 July 2008. Coming from Orlando after 7 days there.
1. Any feedback regarding the resort will be helpful.
2. Is a car absolutely essential to move around Ft Lauderdale? Who to rental from?
3. Suggested places to see and go to without trying to do too much and without breaking the bank.
4. Any other suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks

Accomodation and Transportation Posted: Sun February 24, 2008 10:50 AM UTC
Hi all,
My wife and myself are going for a cruise in April that will depart from the following location:
Port Everglades, S.E. 10th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301
I would like to ask whether there are any inexpensive hotels available in this area and how easy it is to gain access to them, being from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the location above.
Regards,
George.

Transportation from Ft. Lauderdale hotel to port in Miama for 14 people Posted: Fri February 1, 2008 09:38 PM UTC
We're taking our two kids, their spouses and children on a cruise over Spring break. We arrive in Ft. Lauderdale the night before our cruise that goes out of Miama. Transfers for 14 people add up to $784. There has got to be a better way to get to the boat and them back to the airport afterwards. Any suggestions???

Beachfront condo/apartment in Fort Lauderdale Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 12:34 AM UTC
We have stayed in either Lauderdale By The Sea (at Paradise By The Sea -- not good) or at Ocean Manor (private condos vary, but they need work) the last few years with our family. We have to go at Christmastime because of family members' schedules. We used to go on spring break to Panama City Florida, where they had clean and comfortable condos right on the beach with lovely balconies. They were much more reasonably priced than the places we've stayed in Fort Lauderdale. What's the deal? We love the Fort Lauderdale area and want to return, however, after spending hours online looking for a place to stay, I've not found much in our price range. High Noon looks nice, but they're already booked for Christmas 2009. Any ideas would be appreciated.
