Berchtesgaden How long..?
Posted: Sat May 24, 2008 04:05 PM UTC
Hi

I'm doing a day trip to Berchtesgaden and want to visit : the salt mines, Eagles Nest, top of Mount Jenner, Lake Konigsee and St Bartholemew. Is it realistic to do all of this in one day? In which order - roughly - would you recommend?

Berchtesgaden Dinner at Kehlsteinhaus
Posted: Wed August 8, 2007 09:11 PM UTC
I am planning my fourth trip to the Obersalzberg area the end of this month. Although I have visited the Kehlsteinhaus many times, I did not realize until recently that it was possible to eat an evening meal at the restaurant. Is there someone that could get me some details on such things as making reservations, the cost, the quality of the food etc. Also, does anyone have any information about the buffet meals at the Berghotel Rehlegg in Ramsau?

Posted: Thu May 3, 2007 02:35 PM UTC
Hi, I'm wanting to take a short trip to the koenigssee next week, (may 9 and 10) and was wondering if there are any hotels that are located on or very near the lake?
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. I am with my mother who has a broken foot so we are not able to hike, but would love to enjoy the lake side area.
Thanks!

Has anybody try a winter hiking in Berchtesgaden? I'll visit here in this winter, and wish to do an easy (approximately 2-3 hours)hike.

Thanks.

Berchtesgaden Hostel - Guesthouse for June 9-11?
Posted: Tue June 6, 2006 06:55 PM UTC
I'm a student wanting to visit Berchtesgaden - would be arriving by train from Munich June 9th around 8 pm and leaving around 3 pm on Sunday the 11th for Stuttgart. I've done muliple searches for a place to stay. Does anyone know of a place to stay that might be along the train route? I want to visit the Salt mine and the Eagle's Nest but can't seem to find affordable accomadations that I can get to with public transport. I wondered if there were rooms available in town that might not be on the net? Does anyone know about the avail. transport outside the center city for 8 pm on a Friday? I'm willing to stay just about anywhere - if I can get there easily. Thanks, J.

Berchtesgaden house rental for 9 people - anyone know of any?
Posted: Mon May 29, 2006 05:20 PM UTC
We stayed at a great place in Loipl just outside Berchtesgaden a couple of years ago. Unforunately it's since stopped doing holiday rentals, but my family and my sister's family (5 adults, 3 children, 1 toddler) are looking for a similar Bavarian retreat. Ideally it would be more rural than urban, and in the Berchtesgadener-land. We're looking for a couple of weeks in August 2007, and have looked on the internet, and seen some places, but none that are ideal. Therefore, I'm hoping somehwere out there is someone who knows of a private rental (or one I simply haven't stumbled on yet), and can point me in their direction.

Thanks in advance (and with fingers crossed)

Berchtesgaden Konigssee side trip (with car)
Posted: Tue April 25, 2006 08:29 PM UTC
I plan on stopping in Konigssee for about 5 hours on a trip from Garmisch to Salzburg. I enjoy hiking and beautiful scenery. Is the boat trip worth it or too touristy? (or too long?) Is there usually a long wait? (I have a copy of the schedule.) I understand there are rowboats to rent; does anyone know how long would it take to row to St. Bartholomew? Is the hike to Obersee the best hike, or are there better ones? Any other recommendatons for an itenerary? Danke!!

Berchtesgaden Konigssee
Posted: Wed March 22, 2006 06:55 PM UTC
I was stationed in Salzburg, Austria between Dec ’53 – Sep ’55. Yes. It’s a very long time ago.
During those months I spent many weekends in Berchtesgaden creating memories, but those memories may be deceiving me now, on one point.

I remember a 2 or 3 level, outdoor, terraced restaurant at the edge of town that faced south. It is my impression that we could look out from there to the Watzmann, the Jenner, and the Konigssee between. Though the view is still vivid in my mind, someone has since told me that the lake cannot be seen from Berchtesgaden itself. Is this true? Is my memory playing tricks on me?

Berchtesgaden Train Stations
Posted: Tue August 2, 2005 04:01 PM UTC
Hello, everyone.

My wife and I will be travelling from Munich to Berchtesgaden via train. I've gone on the bahn.de website and noticed a total of three stations. Questions: What is the most centralized station? And are taxis readily available in the early evening?

Berchtesgaden All about Berchtesgaden
Posted: Thu February 17, 2005 06:20 AM UTC
We are planning to go to Berchtesgaden from Salzburg. Some questions:

1) What are the bus and train connections like? Is it frequent and how long does it take?

2) How far is the salt mine from the train / bus station in Berchtesgaden?

3) What can we expect from the weather? Extreme conditions?

4) Any accomodations in the town?

Thanks.

Berchtesgaden Wheelchair hire?
Posted: Sun August 15, 2004 12:13 PM UTC
Hi, I'm holidaying in Berchtesgaden for 10 days with my entire family. We're really looking forward to it, but my mother who is 68 might find it a bit tough going when we're out and about (she has back problems which can limit her mobility). I was wondering whether it would be possible to hire a wheelchair in Bechtesgaden (or Munich, which is where we fly to - or Salzburg, for that matter). She wouldn't need it all the time, but it might be quite a good standby.
Does anyone know if it's possible, and if so, any links?

Thanks

Berchtesgaden Berchtesgaden Accommodation
Posted: Wed July 7, 2004 01:03 PM UTC
There are 6 of us looking for a place to stay over Christmas in Berchtesgaden - preferably somewhere close to or even on the slopes as we are all keen snowboarders/skiiers.
Also - how far are the ski areas from the main part of town, I have seen a few different places but not sure where they are in relation to both town and slopes?

Cheers

Berchtesgaden Summertime in Berchtesgaden
Posted: Fri September 26, 2003 04:45 PM UTC
Hi,
My husband and I are planning a trip to Berchtesgaden from the USA next summer. Why question is, what is the best time of season to travel there, where should we fly into from the USA, and can anyone recommend quaint places to stay along the way? I would like to travel the Romatic Road and the Castle Road, and spend most of our time in and around Berchtesgaden. We are into hiking, biking, ecotourism, nature, architecture, and gourmet cuisine.

We are looing for places to stay and eat that will be memorable. We don't have an unlimited budget, but cost is not a huge concern.

Thanks!
