South Lake Tahoe WHERE IS THE TRAIL?
Posted: Thu April 16, 2009 08:19 PM UTC
When arriving at the Reno/Tahoe Airport, I saw a picture of two bicyclists on a bike trail just above Emerald Bay. I would like to ride on that trail. Where do I find that trail head? Thanks!

South Lake Tahoe Vacation Rentals in SLT
Posted: Tue January 13, 2009 04:17 AM UTC
So I know SLT has occupancy laws and stuff. However I have a very big group (20-25) that are only available on the last weekend of February. And I cannot find any affordable ($40-$70/person) places for that weekend. SO, we're going to have to pack it in. Question is, how strict are these occupancy laws? I know the same laws apply in Mammoth Lakes but we get away with it all the time up there. Any advice?

South Lake Tahoe Weather
Posted: Mon December 1, 2008 04:50 PM UTC
Having never been to Tahoe, I have no idea what the weather is normally like there this time of year. But what's up with the 50 degree temps?! Is this typical? When does it usually cool down and snow? I'm coming in late January, so I don't think I have anything to worry about, but I'm just surprised that we have more snow and cold temps here in Ohio at this point. Glad to see Heavenly is at least open on the fake stuff. Any other resorts there open yet?

Thanks

South Lake Tahoe South Lake Tahoe Transportation

Hello All,
I am planning a trip to S. Lake Tahoe in December and wondered if there were any suggestions for getting around there. We don't really want to rent a car and I looked at the local bus transportation, bluego, and it looks like they only go to Heavenly ski resorts, however we may want to go to other places as well, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

South Lake Tahoe Honeymoon Jan. 4 - 7
Posted: Wed October 15, 2008 08:27 AM UTC
I'm getting married in November, but unfortunately my fiance and I can't take our honeymoon until January. We want to see snow, shopping, nightlife, and maybe just a couple of Romantic/Quiet evenings for ourselves. Skiing isn't necessary, but Snow-Tubing, or Snowmobile Rentals would be fun. My first post, very excited about visiting South Lake Tahoe!

South Lake Tahoe Visiting Reno/Tahoe Mid November
Posted: Thu October 2, 2008 11:16 PM UTC
My husband & I will be staying in Reno for a few days the middle of November. We would like to rent a car & take a drive to Lake Tahoe & around the lake area. We would like to go to both North & South Tahoe but I am concerned about the road conditions. I have only been to Tahoe once & the roads look like they could be scarey during the winter. Does anyone know what the normal weather is like in November? We were going to rent just a small car not a 4WD. Is that a bad idea?

Thanks!

South Lake Tahoe Discount Heavenly Passes
Posted: Sat September 20, 2008 04:16 PM UTC
I'm looking for the most cost-effective way to purchase passes for Heavenly ski resort. My wife and I are visiting Jan 24-31, 2009 and plan on skiing 4 of those days. The deal from the resort is a 4 day pass for $284. I've heard of Albertson's, Savemart, and Lucky's offering discounted lift tickets in the past, but I haven't seen anything like that for the '08-09 season. Does anyone know of any great deals, or the best way to get the cheapest lift tickets for Heavenly? Thanks in advance for the help!

South Lake Tahoe 4WD during January an absolute necessity?
Posted: Wed August 6, 2008 01:28 AM UTC
Is it absolutley necessary to rent a 4WD vehicle? OR can I get by with a normal care and tire chains?
We are flying into Sacramento in late January and are renting a car to drive between the airport and South Lake Tahoe. We do not plan on driving much at all during our stay, only one trip from the airport and one trip to the airport.

Thanks

Going with a bachelorette party to South Lake for the weekend and am looking for places to dance that are 18 and over, or a club that doesn't card at the door.

South Lake Tahoe Possible to get by without car rental?
Posted: Mon July 28, 2008 05:53 PM UTC
My wife and I are flying into Sacramento in late January for a week of skiing at Heavenly. I am thinking about trying to avoid renting a car by getting a shuttle from the airport and then utilizing the public transportation system in South Lake Tahoe as well as Heavenly's network of busses to take us to and from the resort. We are staying at Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort (the old Sunterra, now Diamond Resorts facility) at 901 Ski Run Blvd in South Lake Tahoe. We'll need to be able to get to the grocery store and a few restaurants and there will be two days in which we will want to roam the shops and catch a movie, but for the most part, we plan to stay at the resort and on the slopes. Do you think renting a car is necessary, or can I get by without one?

Thanks for the input.

South Lake Tahoe SF- Lake Tahoe- Yosemite
Posted: Tue December 18, 2007 02:27 AM UTC
Hi..I am planning to do a road trip with a couple of friends from SF to Vegas..I have heard a lot about Lake Tahoe..after reading all the posts..i gathered it takes about 3.5- 4 hours drive from SF to Tahoe with a lunch stop at Sacremento. North Tahoe seems a better idea than South Tahoe..but have no clue about the activities there..a budget place to stay at..and for how many days. From there we move to Yosemite National Park..any suggestions..how long will it take to reach the NP?

Thankyou so much

South Lake Tahoe Snow and nice places to eat?
Posted: Thu November 29, 2007 11:13 AM UTC
Getting excited to travel to Tahoe next weekend- 12/8.
I have a few questions if I may...
My fiance and I are getting married while in Tahoe and we're staying at Squaw Creek Resort. We plan to ski and hope that we can find snow there-
Can anyone let me know how the snow is looking out there? I am wondering if there is one ski area better than others with snowfall? Optimally we'd love to ski at Squaw but will travel for better snow- Also, can you tell me if there are any nicer restaurants in that area? And how far is Truckee from Squaw, I need to pick up my bouquet there:) Also, after arriving in Reno at noon, we'd like to take a drive around the lake before we get to Squaw- What time does it get dark and how long will it take?
Thanks so much to anuone who replies:)

Please pray for snow:)

South Lake Tahoe Rental Home Question
Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 12:31 AM UTC
I will be renting a home in the South Lake Tahoe area near Heavenly Valley Ski Resort in December. I've looked at the address on the internet and it does not seem to exist. According to the rental agency, this place is new and still not posted. Would someone in the South Lake Tahoe area do someone a big favor and check to see if this address exist? 3633 Mackedie Way, South Lake Tahoe (6 bedroom, 6 bath home)

I would really appreciate this! I live pretty far from Tahoe so I can't check it out myself. I've done some investigating with the chamber of commerce and they don't think that it exist. I'm starting to think that the rental agency may not be legitimate.

Please respond to : mikesletter@hotmail.com

Thank you!

South Lake Tahoe Vacation

We have airline tickets we MUST use before mid-March. We are from FL and want to see mountains and snow! This will be our first snow experience. We are looking to rent a cabin for 2. We also would like to have access to snow activities (skiing, snow-tubing). I heard Lake Tahoe is beautiful. What do you suggest? What month is best? Jan? Feb? March? What area is best? Is a week too long? Please post the good and bad.

South Lake Tahoe Bachelor Party in October - need ideas
Posted: Wed October 3, 2007 10:12 PM UTC
Staying in Lake Tahoe in a great rental cabin. Doing some hiking on Thursday before the bulk of the group gets out there.... The cabin will be sweet, but for 10 guys who aren't all "outdoorsy" I need some good nightlife hints on where to go. Everyone will be there Fri/Sat. so we'll watch and gamble on football but I've never done that in Tahoe...... don't really know what to expect.

Any ideas on how to spice the party up?

South Lake Tahoe pre-christmas ski trip
Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 02:36 AM UTC
Hi there,
I am planning to take my two teenage sons on a California ski adventure. We have chosen Lake Tahoe region and know very little about your area. Our plan is to arrive Dec. 15 or 16. Is there good snow conditions there this early most years?
And can you recommend a nice cabin type accommodation or condo at least two bedroom. From what I've read North Tahoe is where we want to be for the ski season.
Any help you could give to make this a trip to remember would be appreciated.

South Lake Tahoe We want to get married in Tahoe, but need a TON of help!
Posted: Sat September 22, 2007 10:36 PM UTC
Hi! We've decided that we want to run away and get married, just the two of us, in Tahoe. But we don't even know if north or south is better. It sounds like South is more of a tourist spot. Which is bad, but we are looking for a November date at a romantic place outdoors, where we can have a great ceremony with just the two of us

. It could be indoor, at the right place. I've visited Tahoe a few times, but obviously never to get married, so I am drawing a blank...

Can you help?

A co-worker recommended Harrah's as a place with really nice suites. We are only going to be in Tahoe for 2 days before our travels take us elsewhere! And Harrah's sounds appealing as I am sure they have spa's and restaurants at their location...

Thanks for any help submitted!

South Lake Tahoe So many questions.. transport/location/getting to Vegas etc
Posted: Wed June 6, 2007 08:51 PM UTC
Hi everyone..

Tahoe looks lovely and I wanna go (it will be late August).. but I need some help ;)

First of all - can I visit without a car? I know there is a trolley that goes around so it seems like public transport is OK. (I am from England and not confident enough to drive).

Secondly - where should I stay? I'm not even sure what town to visit but here's what I'm looking for:
- I'm not into skiing even if there was snow that time of year
- I love beautiful scenery
- Not really much of a gambler, plus I'm happy to walk/ride a bus to those gambling places if need be
- I'd like to try some lake activities like water skiing, or swimming
- Not into the party lifestyle.. some quiet and serene would be perfect

I'd be coming from San Francisco - how can I get there? I think there is a greyhound bus that goes to Truckee, but if I decide not to stay in Truckee, how far away are the other towns?

Finally.. I've seen a map with 2 airports on it: Tahoe and Reno. Tahoe is not on any of the website's I've looked at, so I'm guessing its either closed or the map maker was mistaken. So.. how do I get from Truckee to Reno? How long would that take? Is Reno the best airport to go to, to get to Las Vegas (my next destination?)

Thank you for your time.. I realise its a tonne of questions and I really appreciate it!

South Lake Tahoe Need recommendation for South Tahoe vacation rental service
Posted: Sat May 19, 2007 03:29 PM UTC
Can anyone recommend a south Tahoe vacation rental service? I need to find a condo/house for about a week in late July - 2+ bedrooms, with a living room/dining area that can handle 8+ people. I'm trying to plan a memorial get-together for my father who recently passed away, and I want a place where close relatives can come by afterwards and share meals. I like the Keys area, but I need to consider price... Thanks for any help you can offer!
