Santa Barbara Looking for SB rental house for 16-18 people
Posted: Thu April 6, 2006 07:53 PM UTC
Does anyone know of a large home rental in Santa Barbara, housing 16-18 people? Closer to the beach is better, as altitude is an issue for one member of the group. Thanks for any info you have.

Santa Barbara Suite ~$200
Posted: Sun January 1, 2006 07:54 AM UTC
We are looking to stay in sb for 3 nights and need a room/suite/cottage with enough space to share between the two of us and our 1yo. Something boutiquey would be preferable to a standard family place and fairly central to cafes/shops without being on a main road. There seems to be such a huge choice of places that I am becoming quite baffled. Room size matters, which is a bit hard to judge from pics. And the published rates seem so misleading, which is confusing selection more! We will be there in early May.

Thanks for any help!

Santa Barbara how do you compare Santa Barbara, Ventura amd Oxnard
Posted: Tue August 30, 2005 04:15 PM UTC
I'm supposed to set up an office in or around Santa Barbara, Ventura or Oxnard to deal with a number of agriculture products.
I want to be in a place where I can work in the agriculture sector, but also be able to have good time. I'm looking to rent an apartment in Isla or Goleta.
Are there any other places similar to those in the serrounding area?
Please let me know I'm moving Sept 1.

Thank you.

Michael.

I'm 25, a marketing manager for an
import/export trading firm. I often times work with
different arms of the World Bank in the Middle East
and East Africa. I was previously a international
correspondent (reporter).

I play a couple of insturments, speak a couple
languages fluently, work hard, play hard.

Santa Barbara El Encanto - worth it?
Posted: Fri July 8, 2005 02:22 AM UTC
We're thinking of eating at the El Encanto resaurant. It appears to be pricy. ( For that much we could eat 3 or 4 times at one of the beach-front crab shacks. ) Is it worth the price? Thanks.

Which streets in SB would be the best places to look at residential architecture, preferable Mexican style? Big expensive houses are better than small ones. Thanks.

Santa Barbara More Mesa Beach
Posted: Thu April 28, 2005 08:37 AM UTC
Does anyone know the current status of More Mesa Beach?? This is the secludued beach below the mesa where all the controversial housing development is going on. From Hollister you turn left onto Puente Drive and Mockingbird Lane is a left off Puente. It has been used a s a nude beach for many years, and in the 70's and 80's was incredibly popular. I read around 2000-2001 the cops raided it a lot, but then I read hassle stopped and there was supposed to be an agreement about which section of the beach was clothing-optional and which was not. Has anyone been this spring? Thanks.

Santa Barbara Montecito / SB restaurants + proposal
Posted: Wed March 23, 2005 05:34 PM UTC
A business associate won a raffle prize of 2 nights at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, and offered them to me at a very reasonable discount ( otherwise I'd barely be able to afford it. ) Girlfriend and I are going there on July 10-12th, and since it's supposed to be terribly romantic - Olivier/Leigh/Kennedys etc - I'm planning to propose to her there.

So, I have several questions:

1) In general, any reviews of the SYR? Is it as nice as it is reputed to be?
2) Any recommendations for modestly priced ( $20-$35 ea ) good resaurants in Montecito? I'm going to be stretching the budget on the ring, so I want to watch the other expenses without looking cheap.
3) If the SYR turns out not to have quite the right feel, I'd like a backup location. Is there a really romantic place in the SB area for proposing?

Thanks
HB

Santa Barbara How cold is it right now?
Posted: Sun February 20, 2005 03:23 PM UTC
My husband I are going to Santa Barbara and L.A. this coming Friday, the 18th for our 30th anniversary. The weather is not looking too good right now, with rain forecast everyday and temps around 60. Anyone know how to dress for this kind of weather? Sounds silly I know, but it's been a cold winter here in Michigan and it's hard to remember what 60 feels like, and with the rain, I assume it's pretty chilly there, too. Anyone have any idea how warm a jacket to take? Thanks.

Santa Barbara Coming all the way from Europe to visit SB?
Posted: Sun January 23, 2005 12:34 AM UTC
Is it worth it?

Because of my job i can travel for cheap which gives me the opportuinity to go to places hwere i couldnt normally go. As i have 5 days holiday in February, i want to come to the US but i want to do something different than the usual big cities.

Would it be crazy to come all the way from Europe to visit SB?? Would i be bored if i stay 5 days.I am gay by the way , but i dont travel according to my sexuality so although i do not expect a massive gay scene, is there still a few things and places to go?

thanks for ur help

Santa Barbara San Ysidro Ranch
Posted: Wed November 17, 2004 10:20 PM UTC
My wife and I are traveling to the United States next spring, as we do almost every year, and would like to stay at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. Can anyone tell me more about it? I reviewed the Web site last week, but would love some feedback from a fellow jetsetter! We love to travel and try new things as often as we can. Last year we stayed at Halekulani in Honolulu, Hawaii USA, it was absolutely delightful.

Cheers!

Santa Barbara Santa Barbara
Posted: Wed August 18, 2004 06:49 PM UTC
I dreamed about Santa barbara since i was 11 years old and i watched the Tv series Santa Barbara!! Ok, you might make fun of me but since i always wanted to visit this apparently beautiful town.

I came to San Francisco before without going to SB so now i want to rectify this mistake.

Just for info, i am gay ( Hello!? would i like SB TV series if i was straight!!).

I am not lookinf for dating but to meet a friend who could show me around or have a walk on the beach or whatever.

Also being French ( although living in London), i am just a bit nervous about the welcome i might get in US as they were some tensions between our two countries). Do you think it will be alright?

Santa Barbara Visit Santa Barbara AND long beach?
Posted: Fri June 25, 2004 11:29 AM UTC
As I am at least visitting Long Beach (from there I fly back to NY), would it be still worth it to check out Santa Barbara?
Are these cities quite simmliair or cant they be compared at all?

I mean, if they're about the same style (doesnt have to be bad), it may be a wiser idea to spend more time in San Francisco / Yosemite maybe?

oh, and the usual question; any hostels / cheap hotels you would recommend in Santa Barbara?

Santa Barbara driving to santa barbara from L.a.
Posted: Tue February 17, 2004 02:58 AM UTC
I'm planning a one week trip to santa barbara in August. I thought I would fly to L.a. and then drive. I have a fear of heights. Is there a way of driving to santa barbara that is scenic(from L.a.) but that does not involve driving along curvy roads. where one false move gets you down into the valley below!
