I AM LOOKING FOR A PLACE CLOSE TO SAN RAFAEL WHERE THEY CELEBRATE SERBIAN CHRISTMAS ! THANKS

I would like to know whats the best, cheapest and most optimal way to get from Powell Street, San Francisco to 5th Avenue, San Rafael is? I am totally new to San Francisco and any help on public transportation for this route would be greatly useful. I was thinking taking a cab, but I heard it could cost upwards of $70, which is astronomical for me, so is there a much cheaper and more optimal way to travel from San Fran to San Rafael? Please let me know...thanks a lot!

I'm planning to attend an English course (I'm Italian and my English really needs to be improved...)at Dominican University in October/November, but I have a few doubts.
Is it true that it rains all the time in that period of the year?
Maybe it's not the best time to come to San Rafael...especially if I'm staying only for a month.
Can anyone give me a piece of advice?

I need to be in San Rafael around 8 AM on Saturday morning (July 28) and wish to avoid a 2.5 hour drive. Is it possible to find a place to spend Friday night in San Rafael or nearby (up to 10 miles) for about $30 to $50? Hostel/dorm accommodation is acceptable (I am not a student). If someone could provide some insight, I'd appreciate it.
