| San Diego | How to Get to Tijuana Airport from SD Posted: Thu January 10, 2008 06:17 PM UTC
Can anyone recommend a good way to get to the Tijuana airport from San Diego using public transportation and/or taxi?
I was thinking about taking the trolley to the border, walking across, and getting a cab to the airport. Will that work OK? Any ideas on cost of taxi? Thanks |

| San Diego | July 4 Posted: Tue January 8, 2008 01:49 PM UTC
We plan to visit S.D. in July and are wondering if the fourth is a good time to visit. Are July 4th and the fireworks family friendly? Is public transport a good way to go from the bay back to hotel (thinking of Old Town area)? Thanks!

| San Diego | Looking for Local Fun in San Diego Posted: Tue December 25, 2007 10:57 PM UTC
Happy Holidays all! I'm visiting my parents for the holidays in Vista, near San Diego, coming from Toronto, Canada.
I'd like to get some recommendations for fun spots or activities in (and around) San Diego. I've been to most of the tourist spots such as Balboa, La Jolla, Sea World, and the Wild Animal Park. I'm looking for more of a local flavour... some fun for someone my age (23) and perhaps a chance to meet a few friends. I'm interested in anything from cool restaurants/bars/hangouts, to live music venues, to salsa clubs. Appreciate any recommendations! |

| San Diego | people in San Diego / the trolley Posted: Sat December 22, 2007 11:01 PM UTC
Hello,
I'm curious if there's any truth to this: I've heard quite a few times that people in southern california tended to be rather superficial and unfriendly. I know that doesn't mean all of them are, but I was even told so by somebody who lives in orange county. However I've also heard that San Diego had some of the most friendly people in the US and that people there were considerably more friendly than they tended to be in LA. I know that you do have nice people and idiots everywhere, but it depends on their ratio, doesn't it?;-) Another thing Ive been wondering: How efficient is the trolley in San Diego? I know that usually in California anything other than a car is not an option, really, but I've heard that the trolley in San Diego worked quite well. But then again Im wondering does that only mean it works well in comparison to public transport in other cities in southern california? or is it a means of transport that enables people to use it as a part of their daily lives instead of a car? thank you! |

| San Diego | Budget Accomodations Posted: Wed December 19, 2007 08:25 PM UTC
In looking for budget accomodations in San Diego, the most reasonable seemed to be in the Imperial Beach area. I read on the net that this might not be the best of areas. Any advice on the safest neighborhoods, or any other accomodations would be appreciated, evenly locally owned, not necessarily a chain. thank you

| San Diego | Chula Vista, San Diego Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 08:24 PM UTC
Hi,
We have a week scheduled this summer at a RV campground in Chula Vista. The RV resort is located on Sandpiper way next to the marina. We were thinking of taking the public transportation to downtown San Diego until our neighbor mentioned that it was not a good area to be out at nights and it was generally not a safe area. Before we change our plans on the transportation to town I though it might be helpful to get other opinions on the area. If you have any opinions on the area please advise us. Thanks, Mike |

| San Diego | Visiting California Posted: Sat December 15, 2007 02:14 PM UTC
Hey there, just after some advice. I'll be flying into San Diego with the plan of visiting Mexico. Anyone give me some advice on where to visit in Mexico, other than the obvious border towns. I'm planning on staying 2 weeks, hoping to spend most that time in Mexico, so any advice on places to stay and where to avoid?

| San Diego | SF to SD without LA Posted: Fri December 14, 2007 09:25 PM UTC
I was born in SD and lived there for several years. Once in a while I go back. Sometimes I fly and sometimes I drive. But each time I drive I get stuck in traffic in Los Angeles.
Friends of mine tell me that there's a good route around LA, east of the mountains. Does anyone have suggestions for this? |

| San Diego | Visit in November 2007? Posted: Fri November 9, 2007 10:49 PM UTC
Hi folks,
I'd like to visit SD in November for a week or so, I'm from Toronto, Canada. My concerns are the air quality and the allegedly shorter supply in accomodation after the wildfire tragedy that occured...So I thought I'd rather ask for your expert opinion before going there: how far has the situation improved? Is it still advisable to visit SD under the above conditions? Regards, VSB |

| San Diego | Fire Concerns Posted: Tue October 23, 2007 02:00 AM UTC
We're arriving noon on Wednesday with two grandsons ages 8 & 10 for a 5-day stay. We had planned to do the usual kid tourist things, i.e., Sea World, Balboa Park, Legoland, Old Town, etc. Will the fires you are currently suffering hinder these or other outdoor activies? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

| San Diego | Sky Scrapers in San Diego Posted: Mon October 8, 2007 08:42 PM UTC
I was in San Diego a few years ago and went on a tour. They took us to town and showed us the new buildings. These building were in a district that to build there had to be a theme such as a ship coming in or a sailboat something to go along with San Diego. Anyone know anything about this and can you tell me where some info and pictures are?
Thanks Madonna |

| San Diego | San Diego to Tijuana for a day Posted: Sun September 16, 2007 02:19 AM UTC
We shall be renting in Los Angeles and then driving to San Diego for three days. We intend visiting Tijuana for four hours or so, and wonder if it is best to use our rental. Believe there may be insurance issues taking a Hertz into Mexico....? If so should it be left on the U.S side parking area and we make our way across on foot or via shuttle bus, if such exists. Or is it best to leave our car in San Diego and take a bus straight into Tijuana? Have read a previous posting re the 'trolley'. Is this one way of doing the trip in a hassle free way? many thanks
