992 San Diego Airport to Downtown Bus Posted: Fri June 19, 2009 08:56 PM UTC
Can anyone indicate to me just how "luggage-friendly" this bus is? I will be arriving with a large suitcase and a carry-on and would like to know if there are luggage storage racks under or on the bus. Also, are there are nasty stairs on the bus to ascend/descend? Do passengers with luggage use the bus or, is it used mostly by airport workers without luggage? Any comments would be helpful.

Buying Wine Near Horton Plaza Posted: Fri June 19, 2009 03:42 PM UTC
Is there a store near Horton Plaza that sells table wine and bag-in-box wine? Do pharmacies sell wine (as they do in states such as Florida)?

How to get from SAN to LAX? Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 11:25 PM UTC
I was wondering what's the best way to get from San Diego Airport to LAX? I know about the train and bus but it's time consuming since they take me to Union Station and then I would catch a bus from there. My flight leaves at 1pm and I rather not head out from San Diego at 5 in the morning. Once when the canceled my flight form San Diego to LAX, they put us all in a big shuttle bus and took us there. Is there a bus company that regularily runs between SAN and LAX? Can I take the coaster up to Oceanside and catch a shuttle from there?

San Diego in August with a 4 month old? Posted: Tue June 2, 2009 11:52 PM UTC
Hey all. Me and my husband are contemplating traveling to San Diego with our son who will be 4 months old by this time and would love some ideas, recommendations and opinions. Is Aug. a weather month? What is the family friendlyist area for us to stay? What should we include on our visit? We will be there for one 6-8 days in the middle of the month. We are going to try VRBO first for an apartment so if anyone has any recommendations we'd appreciate it. If we can't find an apartment/house we will be using priceline. Any takers for a house swap? We are in San Antonio near Fiesta Texas. Thank you in advance.

Fun things to do with kids? Posted: Mon May 25, 2009 03:28 PM UTC
We'll be in San Diego for four nights beginning on Friday, May 29 with my two kids, ages 5 and 7. So far we're planning to visit Sea World and the USS Midway. We may also go to the zoo. Originally we had planned to spend quite a lot of time at the beach, but it doesn't look like it will be warm enough. So, we're looking for suggestions for other things to do. Thanks.

Can I exhibit my photographs at San Diego County Fair Posted: Fri May 22, 2009 11:30 AM UTC
I have heard a lot about the famous San Diego County Fair (www.sdfair.com), the fifth largest Fair in North America that I am really excited to witness it myself. I have booked the flight tickets for San Diego and rooms at California Suites Hotel (http://www.californiasuiteshotel.com). But what I am unsure about is, can I showcase my photography at the Fair? I am a good photographer and would love to exhibit some of my pictures. Can anyone suggest how I can do that?

Where to stay for 2 nights in July? Posted: Thu May 14, 2009 10:52 PM UTC
Hi there, my partner & I will be in San Diego for 2 nights in July. We are planning to visit Sea World for one day, and relax the other day before our flight.
We'd like somewhere for around $100 US a night & if possible clean, safe & near a few decent pubs/music.
We are thinking about hiring a car to drive down from Anaheim.
Thanks!

College guys on vacation Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 04:41 AM UTC
Me and two friends are planning a trip to san diego in late june.
I am researching the best locations to stay and party. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
We want to stay on/near the beach. However we need access to where the nightlife resides. Optimum location would be walking distance (4-5 miles).
What street has the most and best quality clubs and bars? Pacific Beach?
What Beaches/clubs/bars are the best for our age range? (23-24) And we like girls.
Money is somewhat a matter. But not much.
Thank you.

San Diego - 2 adults 1 9 year old - Where to stay Posted: Sat April 25, 2009 10:53 PM UTC
Hi...I am a little overhelmed with all the hotel options available in San Diego.
We will have a car and we are planning to go to The Zoo, Sea World, and Legoland.
We will be two adults and 1 child age 9...traveling June 18th thru 23rd.
Any recommendations would be great.
THe preferred rate would be 150.00 to 175..of course a beach would be nice..but I am not finding that...
I have checked out a few of your travel pages..but there are still soo many choices.

Is California Suites Hotel a good place to stay? Posted: Tue April 21, 2009 09:46 AM UTC
Spring is awesome in San Diego. We had heard tons about it and this year we’ve all decided to come to San Diego for a nice long weekend. Sandy beaches, wild parks, sea world and shopping centers, you got ‘em all here. And of course the thrilling and rocking night life. But we are still undecided on where we are goin’ to stay. Someone suggested California Suites Hotel. Looks like a good location from its website (http://www.californiasuiteshotel.com/). But what about the services and stuff? Pls suggest.

good restaurants for birthday celebration Posted: Sat March 21, 2009 11:03 PM UTC
My family is meeting in San Diego in September'09 to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. She loves San Diego and we want to take her out for a special birthday dinner. She isn't into high tech cuisine, but she's is a good cook who appreciates good food. She's not a big seafood fan (except for salmon and shell fish).
We're looking for a restaurant that is classy without being pretentious with a warm and inviting atmosphere and really great food. Any suggestions?

"Place" to stay in June for 7 days for 2 people Posted: Fri March 20, 2009 02:22 PM UTC
Hey guys
I was wondering... Florida has these really neat houses to rent, so called vacation rentals for about 1000-1500 usd/week, i.e. http://www.floridaheindl.com/
I'm trying to find something similar for me and my GF in San Diego but all I'm googling are some 3000-4000 usd/week houses of far lesser comfort than the ones mentioned in florida; how come?
Assuming that I won't get any further in my quest with affordable house rentals in san diego I decided to switch my preferences:
Duration of visit: 7-9 days
No. of people: 2 (double bed, shower, kitchen would be nice too)
Max. price for 7 days (for 2): 1500 usd
Location: as the vacation rentals with pools or at the beach front don't seem to be an option, I'd prefer downtown (near gaslamp, little italy etc.).
Type of "place" in order of preference: house > condo > hotel/apartment > hostel
Yes, I know Hotel Coronado is relly nice but also too far away (we won't be driving with a car, buth rather with public transportation) and also not really affordable (-:
Thanks for all good recommendations (downtown would be really nice!).

Possible restaurants - Major's Diner in Pine Valley, Roberto's, looking for others in same price range
We are not looking for theme parks as we live in Orlando and have plenty here.

Students, 10 days too long? Posted: Mon March 9, 2009 09:41 AM UTC
Hi everyone!
2 friends and I are planning a trip to SD in late June and we're very excited about going! we were thinking about staying there between 10 and 15 days. Is this too long?? Are we going to get bored after 5 days? We thought about this destination because there seems to be plenty to do: city, beach, mountains, Mexique, LA not too far... so we'd have time to rest, do sightseeing, shopping etc... We really just want to enjoy everyday life and discover a new city.
We won't have a car coz none of us has a driving license yet but we don't mind taking buses/train to go out of SD for a day or so.
Thanks for your help!

Getting married in San Diego Posted: Thu February 12, 2009 06:43 PM UTC
My daughter wants to get married in San Diego in July 2010. All well and good, except we live in Ireland! So now I have lots of research to do and where better than VT? I'll throw my questions out there and if anyone can chip in with an answer here and there I;m sure we can give her that special day.
1. Is it possible to arrange a wedding in a centrally located Roman Catholic Church? And just to make things more awkward she likes the idea of a little white chapel.
2. We will be having a reception for 25-30 guests so suggestions for a nice hotel or restaurant with private facilities that could accommodate us would be welcome. Also,it may be necessary to hold the ceremony at the same location, so please factor this into any suggestions.
3.Are there any popular, picturesque outdoor locations commonly used for wedding ceremonies in SD?
4. All the guests will be flying over from Ireland, so accommodation will be needed. Some will only be staying for a few days and just need some decent quality budget accommodation. Others will make a holiday out of it and will bring young children along, so something central with a pool would be ideal. And some of the younger guests might want to stay near the nightlife of SD. Suggestions for all would be most welcome.
Finally, I would like to say that I visited SD on my honeymoon 30 years ago and I'm really looking forward to seeing it again.
